Ah Short Steps

Saturday, September 16, 2023

Whew.  TGIS.  I ate too much last night, went to bed too late.  Was worried about not sleeping well but it turned out that slept well enough.  Woke up about 4:30 and didn't end up going back to sleep.  Pushed myself out the door at 6:00, I'm home, cleaned up and ready to get cranked up.

Good start.  We'll see how the rest of it goes.

Paid a very small price on the scale for yesterday's abysmal eating.  I have next week mapped out and did pretty well at the grocery store so I'm optimistic that I'll be doing better.  Not so much today, of course, but it's coming.

Breakfast:   Lazy bagels w very veggie cream cheese, coffee

Why is yogurt so expensive when milk is so cheap?  I guess some of it was I had to buy Fage since there hasn't been any Meijer brand (half the price) on the shelf the last three or four weeks.  I'm lucky if there is any Fage or other brand.

Lunch:  Taco salad, al pastor

Notably better than last week and it took me a while to figure out why ... I'm about 99% sure they gave me chorizo instead last week.  I am absolutely stuffed.

Dinner:  Home pepperoni pizza, 12 oz All Day IPA, Haagen Dazs butter cookie cones

Really tasty pizza.  I did not do so well at the store today.  Large coupon on the cones so I bought a box.  They are tasty but I'd never ever pay the stock price, or even think about it.  I'd rather just have plain old ice cream.

Exercise:  Walk, 1 hour 2 minutes, pedometer app says 2.4 miles.  A few small hills, went OK but I definitely felt it on the last one.  My original planned route was even longer but I lopped off a segment and I'm glad I did.  This was the right amount - I can definitely tell I was out there and I'm a little fatigued but not to the limit.  We will see how tomorrow goes.

I figured out why my distance was so short last week (today wasn't quite as bad but still short) -- my stride length is notably shorter than usual, so step count equals less distance.  Some of that is recovery, but it's also attributable to it being 0 dark 30 and me not wearing glasses.  Being vey careful of my footing.  Oh, and the aches and pains associated with being super fat and out of shape.  Those were mildly annoying but not debilitating.
