Six Hundred Words

Saturday, October 7, 2023

TGIS.  And I have no idea, actually, how many words I'm going to spray all over this page.  It just seems like it may be a lot today.

I spent an unreasonable amount of time yesterday paging back through the archives, going back a couple years.  It was an interesting takeaway that I have very, very, very rarely been consistent for more than a couple days in a row.  It's a day or two or three and then boom, pizza.  Or fast food.  Or something.  It is pathetic how little focus and dedication I have.  It's hard to pick out the successful stretches and explain why they were successful, for the most part.  Occasionally it is obvious, but not often or always.

It feels lately like I'm caught up on being perfect.  Instead of things that are good enough, I want to only buy and eat stuff that's perfect - organic everything, grass fed beef, no seed oils, etc etc.  Decided yesterday that I'm taking the wrong approach.  Over time, yes, I'd like to get there.  For now, it's okay if I am not perfect.  I worry about omega 6s and antinutrients in nuts, which would generally be fine as something low in carbs.  Plus they may be roasted in oil.  But you know what, I can probably eat them and be fine.  For now I am going to try and worry less.  Better choices, yes -- delete the low quality fast food for example.  But less emphasis on perfection.  I have plenty of weight to lose and just being better will help me get there.

On a related note, one experiment that's coming right up is whether I can truly deal with corn.  Bought two packages of my preferred tortillas (which are not sold many places locally), so there will be a lot of home tacos and breakfast tacos in my immediate future.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.  Good to maintain on a weekend for once.  I was hungry about 9:45 or so but had no problem waiting until I got home just before noon.

Lunch:  Taco salad, al pastor.  A few lime Masa chips.  Later, two lazy bagels with cream cheese.

As mentioned, I was pretty hungry.  Again may be the last taco salad for a while due to carbiness -- if I had been doing my errands just a little later I was going to hit up a BBQ joint instead, but it was too early and I didn't feel like waiting.  Wanted to hit the farm and get home.  Also:  It took WAY too long for satiety to kick in.  Jeez that's annoying.

Worst lazy bagels I've made, they just were meh.  And the cream cheese tub (it was a new one of whipped) was frozen.  Oops.  Guess I know where the cold spot in the fridge is now.

Add:  More Masa chips.  It's starting to look like a good thing when they are gone.  I just need to not have food handy.  Idiot.  Way too many chips.

Dinner:  Home pepperoni pizza, 12 oz Miller Lite, Tillamook mint chip ice cream

Standard stuff.  I think I have one more dough in the freezer.  I was lazy plating it, which is too bad, this was such a good effort it deserved more respect.  Delicious.

Exercise:  Walk, 1.25 miles or so, 28 minutes.  Weekday loop, but I cut off about a third of it because it was COLD.  Only mid-40s, but vey windy.  First day like that.  I was fine in pants and a sweatshirt but I did not wear gloves and that was a problem.  Hoping to be geared up properly tomorrow for a longer hike.
