Forever Not Understandable

Saturday, October 21, 2023

TGIS.  As usual.

I will never, no matter how hard I try, understand the human body.  I did not get to sleep as early as I had hoped last night (shouldn't have eaten those chocolate chips dumbass), it was after 10:00 when I did.  Woke up shortly after 3:00 and was ... not that tired?  Functional?  Huh?  Sure I didn't do anything until I kicked myself out the door shortly before 5:30, but I did not go back to sleep.  After two days where I was really really tired in the morning.  I don't get it.

Anyway, I was glad I ignored the weather app (rain starting in 30 minutes my ass) and got out there.  It was a good morning for a walk, though there was definitely more traffic than usual on a weekend at 0 dark 30.   Not a fan of that part.  Hopefully it's quieter tomorrow.  Otherwise I may have to push myself out earlier, I like the peace.  New shoes were fine, no foot pain, just a bit of toe chafing down the stretch, not a big deal.  They definitely feel different, like the heel is more built up.

As an added bonus the scale was down this morning.  Brisket good?  No ice cream?  I dunno what the difference was, but okay.  Planning to try some more new stuff this week, looking for some consistency and we'll see if that produces results.

Breakfast:  Lazy bagels w Tillamook very veggie cream cheese, coffee

Not super early, but definitely earlier than my preferred window.  I'm OK with it.  And I definitely understand the impact these will have.  Too much starch.  On the plus side, it helped me once again avoid buying donuts at the grocery store.

Lunch:  Brisket, cheesy potatoes, cornbread

Other BBQ place.  Not their finest effort on the brisket, but it was still fine.  Potatoes were excellent.  It wasn't really worth the drive, but whatever.

Dinner:  Home pepperoni pizza, 12 oz Miller Lite

Excellent.  I had a tiny bit of doubt, since I forgot to put the dough in the fridge when scheduled and it sat out an extra 8 hours or so but it was terrific.  A batch of dough, jar of sauce, block of mozz and pack of pepperoni is good for three weeks worth of these.  Yum.

Exercise:  Walk, just over 3 miles (pedometer said 3.2 today), about 7k steps, 1 hour 10 minutes.  Usual very slow pace, never had any pep, was pretty tight throughout, fairly tired down the stretch.  But I powered through and got it done.  Add in a couple trips to the grocery store etc and I'm well over 10k steps by mid-afternoon ... and tired.
