LOL Pedometers

Sunday, October 1, 2023

Give me a break.  I walked the same route I did a week ago Saturday this morning.  The only, and I mean only, difference is that I spent a fair amount of it walking in the street instead of on the sidewalk given that it was rather dark and there were an incredible number of people autowatering their sidewalks.

Same route.  Same pace.  Same everything.  The only difference is I edited my height and weight on my phone, I think the default was midget setting.

Anyway, this time, it says I took about 500 fewer steps, which, okay, fine.  But it bumped my alleged mileage from 3.4, which was already suspect, to 4.6!  It's not 4.6 miles.  Really.  I might go out and drive it sometime today just to see what the car says.  I have a pedometer (this is just a phone app), I need to remember to grab that next time as well.

Enough.  It was a super pleasant morning.  I encountered zero people, which was ideal.  And I somehow didn't gain weight yesterday, yay.  I woke up a 3:45 and felt pretty decent.  Intended to get some additional sleep but that never happened and I was able to kick out the door at 5:30.  I like walking so much more when I can get out before 6:00 and when I'm feeling okay physically.

Quick September recap:  MEGA FAIL.  Gained quite a bit of weight.  Ate horribly.  Was very inconsistent on the exercise.  All around not satisfactory.  So let's set some October goals.  Back in the old days I hoped to lose 15 pounds in a good month and I'm carrying around enough water that I think that's feasible.  Let's also shoot for 20 days of meaningful exercise.  About the only thing I did right was get more sleep.

Breakfast:  Lazy bagels with very veggie cream cheese, coffee

Audible, I was going to make pancakes.  Decided to do that next weekend instead.  Cleaned up the cream cheese.  Need to be less starchy starting tomorrow.

Also:  4 strips bacon, Jack's paleo double chocolate cookies

Did it lower and slower, 45 minutes at 350.  Pretty good result, not overdone.  This is grocery store bacon, Hatfield brand.  I have one more package of store bacon, then I hope to get some CF bacon when they restock.  Cleaned up the cookies.  Should not buy again.

Lunch:  Enchilada eggs, Masa lime chips and guacamole

First try of the lime Masa chips, I think I prefer regular.

Snack:  2x McDouble, Sprite.

Idiot.

Dinner:  BLT x1.5, Lays chips, choc chip cookies, Tillamook Oregon Dark Cherry ice cream

Sunday dinners.

Exercise:  Walk, 1 hour 10 minutes.  As mentioned, lolpedometer said 4.6 miles, which it was not.  About 7,500 steps it says.  I hit a mini wall on a short rise an hour in -- better/later than last week -- but the home stretch is downhill then flat and the restaurant along the way was frying bacon and that spurred me on.  Overall pace was slow but steady, not much pep but other than the wall moment I didn't really drag either.  Satisfactory.

Edit:  I clocked it in the car, odometer said just over 3 miles.  Seems right with my lol usual 20 min/mile pace.  And my weekday loop is 1.75 miles.

81.0
