Christmas Peace

Tuesday, December 25, 2012

A peaceful and beautiful start to the day.  I did not see another person or car on my walk this morning for more than 20 minutes.  It was a beautiful, mostly clear, calm morning and I had the world to myself.  At least to the extent such a thing is possible in town.  Many folks left their christmas trees and lights on so it really was a pretty hike.

I tried dealing with the seasonal blues with family and booze yesterday and it worked decently.  I'm definitely not out of my funk but it was still a nice time.  It's the alone time that gets me and thankfully walking helps there.  Fewer deep thoughts yo.

Edit:  Holiday blues returned with a vengeance in the afternoon, subsided during evening events and returned one last time in the evening.  Yikes.

Breakfast:  1 medium organic russet potato, peeled and boiled, leftover sausage and some shredded cheddar cheese; coffee.  Decided I didn't want to wait until brunch.

Lunch:  Sausage strata, oatcakes, 2 slices bacon, 1/2 grapefruit, ~ 5 oz orange juice

Snack:  Chips and onion dip

Dinner:  3 potato rolls with butter, ham and turkey slices, a little green bean casserole, some diced potatoes with cheese and sour cream, a bite of cranberry, a couple mini dill pickles, celery with ranch dip, 12 oz Coors Lite, ~ 3 glasses of riesling, ~ 1/3 bottle or more of cotes-du-Rhone.

Also:  The last two red waldorf cake balls and one bite of almond banket.  I'm good on sweets for a while.

Exercise:  Fairly similar to yesterday but I sliced off the last loop.  Ended up at 3.4 miles in an hour and five minutes.  I honestly expected it to be much slower - I was dragging pretty good after getting about 4 hours of sleep last night.  I might need a nap today.
