Things are back to normal today. I did a better job of going to sleep at a reasonable hour yesterday, though I was a bit stressed about all the things that remained undone. I have a couple of cooking projects (most notably stew) that I want to get done and there just wasn't enough time. Possibly tonight.
It was notably dark when I was out for a walk this morning. As for the title of today's post, I was searching around yesterday trying to figure out what I should do in the way of shoes if I'm going to be serious about stepping up my exercise regimen. Totally confusing and honestly pretty frustrating. Finding something to fit my enormous feet properly will be a challenge. I may just stick with what I have, more on that some other time. I also don't have any other gear - I look pretty funny ambling along in jeans, layers and a hood but that's OK, there aren't that many people out if I go before 6:00.
Breakfast: ~ 1.5 oz Armour novara hard salami, 2 slices Kraft big slice sharp cheddar cheese, coffee
Lunch: 3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese and avocado; sausage; coffee
Snack: ~ 1.5 oz Meijer peanuts. Finished off the container.
Dinner: 2 Taco Bell chicken burritos, 1 container Meijer greek yogurt with a couple frozen raspberries
Busy, ate late, stuff wasn't thawed, yadda yadda. Fail but not the worst fail ever.
Exercise: Usual loop, clocked in a just over 1.1 mile, about 18 minutes. As a pre-pre-pre-prelude to attempting the Couch to 5k program I decided to test out a couple little jogging intervals. I did four of them, about a block each (so not very far or very long) and they felt okay. The last one was more like a block and a half and that's about as far I wanted to go that time. Walked the rest of the way and feel fine. We'll see if I can bump things up before actually starting the program. I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to make it work anyway, since I have no place to jog (it's insulting to runners to call what I do running) indoors and it WILL snow one of these days. I may just do the best I can until spring, we'll see.
Also, I decided to add some other stuff today so after I finished my walk I did a whopping total of 5 modified (i.e. girl) pushups and 5 situps. These were surprisingly difficult, especially the pushups. Yeah, I'm out of shape and heavy. And I have quite a gut that makes situps a challenge. It will be interesting to see if I can progress on those. No goals yet.
