Six Hours and Some Miles

Saturday, December 29, 2012

Some assorted first world problems today.  I went to bed pretty early last night - I figured if I was asleep by 9:30 (which I was) I would get seven solid hours before the alarm.  I moved the alarm up 15 minutes because I've been a little poky getting out the door during the work week.  I didn't get my seven hours, though - I woke up at 3:30 and didn't really get back to sleep.  I gave up and got up at ten after 4, feeling just dandy.

I was a little worried about the walk this morning, since it snowed yesterday and the sidewalks weren't clear.  Fortunately my shoes proved to have sufficient grip and I only slipped a bit once.  I'll call that great success.

Also in the first world problems - I walked so long this morning that my coffee maker's heating element shut down well before I got home.  It keeps the coffee warm for 2 hours.  Doh.

Breakfast:   A couple leftover oatcakes, 6 slices CF applewood bacon w/ a little pepper, 1 slice Kraft Big Slice sharp cheddar cheese, coffee

This picture has no eggs.
Delicious as always.  In hindsight I probably should have cut a couple strips of bacon and fried up a couple eggs instead but I eat enough eggs as it is.

Lunch:  Qdoba naked burrito, 1/2 rice, double steak, pico, hot salsa, cheese and sour cream.

So good.
Was going to eat at home.  Got hungry while doing errands.  Lots of errands.

Snack:  ~ 2 oz CF cajun beef jerky

Dinner:  None.  Can you believe that?  I went and played cards, staying longer than planned.  No dinner.

Exercise:  Extra long walk today, 5.5 miles in about 1 hour 40 minutes.  Felt strong throughout, a little tired in the legs now that I'm done and have breakfasted.  Definitely quieter out there on the weekend, really a pretty nice morning.  I'm still amazed how much I'm loving this - it's rapidly becoming the best hour (or more) of the day.  I get a lot of thinking done.

Edit:  The errands racked up a bunch more mileage, I'm over 9 miles for the day and it's only mid-afternoon.
