Mr. Potato Ed

Wednesday, May 22, 2024

Looks like it will be a potato-filled day.  Something that is interesting only to me.

I think I'm slowly figuring out the cramp puzzle.  I had some fairly vicious cramping overnight, I thought it was toward morning but when I looked at the clock, nope, it was 2:15.  I did manage to go back to sleep in the recliner and then slept through until it was time to get up.  So it was annoying and a bit painful but not major.  Anyway, I think what I have figured out is that electrolyte issues not only are triggered by sweating, but also by taking in lots of water (diluting).  I didn't sweat that much last night - the temperature was kept pleasant by a nice breeze - so I figured I would not have an issue.  But I did drink a lot of water.  Maybe it's exacerbated by the beer, that I do not know.  But I think I diluted my body's supply and that triggered the cramping.  At least that's my current working theory.  One which I plan to test in detail over the coming weekend.

Otherwise, another day closer.  Pleased to see a drop on the scale, I certainly did not earn one.  BP has also been steady (on the inaccurate machine) at a lower number, so that's good too.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.  It's been nice not being hungry in the morning -- I could have eaten today, but I did not need to eat.  The psychological "need" to eat mostly kicks in at other times, like when I'm driving around.

Lunch:  4 eggs scrambled, CF chorizo, a little cheddar cheese, hatch chiles, hash browns in olive oil

Had a package of chorizo that needed to be cooked, so I had a HUGE fat bowl o' breakfast.  It was delightful.

Dinner:  Barbacoa, mashed potatoes, guacamole, 12 oz All Day IPA

From an older, lesser batch of barbacoa.  It was fine.  I will say that the giant breakfast bowl kept me well sated all afternoon.

Exercise:  Yes.  I did a walk to pick up a car this afternoon, not far, only six blocks or so.  Going to do another one to the health food store of similar length.  Nothing major, but enough to count.
