Day Zero

I haven't gone outside yet but I can already tell that it's a beautiful day.  At least it has been kicked off in fabulous fashion.  I went to bed at 9:00 last night.  Yep.   Super, super lame.  But I ended up having the best night of sleep in recent memory and I felt *good* when I woke up this morning!  That's rare.  And exciting.  I haven't had to rush into anything.  Fixed a delicious breakfast.  Now about to kick back with one more cup of coffee before deciding what I want to do.  Holidays, you gotta love 'em.

Breakfast:  2 CF eggs fried in butter, 4 strips Hormel thick cut jalapeno bacon, Alexia hash browns in butter, coffee.  587 calories according to MyFitnessPal.

Kicked up a notch!
I actually paid attention to how much butter I used and kept it to 1T total for the hash browns and eggs.  Somehow I managed to buy out of date bacon -- hard to believe -- but it was still fine.  I'll probably eat it up over the next two days and it was vacuum sealed so I'm not exactly concerned.  Just annoying.  First time for that flavor, it was quite good.  Flavored bacon in general is kind of a waste, since so much of the flavoring cooks off in the pan, but this kept a little kick.

Lunch:  2 grilled cheese sandwiches (white bread, american cheese, butter), homemade vegetable noodle soup (chicken stock, carrot, celery, onion, egg noodles, spices).  950 calories.

Probably the first time I have ever added egg noodles to a soup.
Goodbye grilled cheese, you were delicious.  That was the last of the holiday white bread and american cheese.  I did measure the butter to keep it in check, the sandwich didn't suffer.  The soup was good and very easy, would make again and probably throw in some chicken or something.

Snack:  2 oz cheddar cheese popcorn.  280 calories.

Popcorn, with powdered cheese
Who says the holiday season is over?  I received a gift of six of these 1 oz variety popcorns.  2 of them were (and I mean were) cheddar cheese.

Dinner:  Omaha Steaks filet, twice baked potato, salad with ranch, 2 Pillsbury crescent rolls, 12 oz Miller Lite.  1,080 calories.

A casual snap on the fly
Pretty tasty.  First time I recall eating an Omaha Steak.  I don't think I'd pay the premium on a regular basis - the local grass fed stuff is delicious - but it was quite good.

Exercise:  1 mile walk, 23 minutes.  Took a nice leisurely walk after breakfast.  Slow pace due to icy sidewalks, I got a little bit of a bonus workout finding safe spots to walk.  Downloaded a new GPS activity tracker app for my phone, seems to work.   It was kind of neat to hear it announce "1 mile" just as I was returning home.  Also walked around Walmart for a while but not counting that.

Day Total:  2,897 calories.  That's 700 or so too many.  Easy to see where they could have been shaved.  I'll try to do better tomorrow.
