Rest From Walk Weekend

Monday, November 22, 2021

Pleased that I tolerated yesterday's walking quite well.  I never got notably tired -- we played in 4 hours and I never sat down or stopped for more than a minute.  I wondered about a couple late hills but they were no issue at all.  And I burned off lots of calories including all that rice.  Good times.  Got a solid night of sleep and had a planned rest day this morning.  Thanksgiving week is off to a pretty good start.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Hamburger soup, HSCR toast w butter

Slices were a bit bigger in this batch (which means the non-CR bread will be smaller).  Good as always.

Dinner:  Taco bowl, 12 oz Miller Lite, slice of keto butterscotch cream cheese pie w whipped cream

Duplicate of yesterday.  One fat slice of the pie left for tomorrow night.

Exercise:  Nope.  Rest day.  I did look a little and I think yesterday was the first time since 2013 that I walked 18.  Happy it went as well as it did.

Eating Isn't Everything

Sunday, November 21, 2021

I was not real sure what I was going to see from the scale this morning.  Felt a little bloated and definitely backed up.  At the same time, I got a lot of walking in yesterday and the eating wasn't as awful as last weekend.  And ... it was not great bob.  Like I said yesterday, weekends need to look more like the weekdays since those, for the most part, are going well.  Oh, and I should add a couple bites of bread -- had to test the new batch of homemade bread as I bagged it up for the freezer -- and a bit of butter to last night's eating.

So it goes.  May be able to get in some more golf this afternoon, we will see if the weather holds.  They've backed off the forecast of meaningful snow tonight into tomorrow so maybe there will be a chance over the holiday too.  Who knows.  I definitely don't bank on what the long term forecast says.

Fun with numbers:  Just for entertainment I made a spreadsheet of scale results for days where I eat breakfast for dinner versus taco salad versus taco bowl.  It's not perfect, since there is some variation in exact composition (especially of breakfast) but I'm not trying to prove anything in particular.  The results were interesting -- taco dinners resulted in between 3 and 4 times the average loss the next day compared to breakfast.  Bowls were no worse (slightly better in fact) than salads.  Only one day was a gain out of 12 for tacos.  3 out of 9 (plus a zero) for breakfast.  I tried to be as consistent as possible, which was relatively easy given that I've had soup and toast every single one of the sample days for lunch I think -- I didn't tabulate days with a weird lunch.   Kind of eye opening!  I should also do a sheet of what my awful weekends are doing to my progress sometime.

Breakfast:  Pancakes w/ butter & maple syrup, bacon, coffee

Freezer cakes, leftover bacon, easy five minute meal on the griddle.  Carby but delicious.

Snack:  A few Epic salt and pepper pork rinds.  Finally finished this bag, spread out over ~ 4 snacks I think.

Lunch:  Yellow rice with diced ham

Carb loading before golf.  SMDH.  At least I cleaned up the open package of ham.

Dinner:  Taco bowl, keto butterscotch pie, 12 oz Miller Lite

Standard bowl with the Siete chips.  A very fine dinner and I'm glad I had it handy so I could talk myself out of getting takeout.

I made a half pie this morning - it's an almond flour crust, filling is cream cheese and sugar free butterscotch pudding.  A little whipped cream on top.  Not bad.

Exercise:  18 holes walking.  I need to try and figure out if it's the first time I've walked 18 holes since Thanksgiving 2012.    15k steps and it went just fine.

Easing In

Saturday, November 20, 2021

Lots of musings today, which figures given that I've been awake for three hours and the sum total of my accomplishments is I walked and I got cleaned up.  Oh, and I just made a cup of coffee.

Still, I'm calling that a successful start.  Easing into things, I woke up at 3:30 and took plenty of time to do very little.  Went out at my usual time, maybe 15 minutes earlier than I have been since I was fully awake at 5:00 instead of just waking up.  Between successful eating yesterday, clearing the system and a walk the scale was primed for a nice drop.  All good.

It was interesting that I encountered nearly zero people this morning.  No walkers, runners or dog people.  I know it's a weekend and I'm slightly earlier, but it was pretty nice (with appropriate gear) so I would have expected a few.  A couple people were working to open a restaurant for breakfast downtown, a police officer returned to the station and an ambulence went by a few blocks down, but that was about it.  Maybe a car or two but nobody else.  I usually only expect that kind of peace and quiet on Christmas morning.

I have plans to cook and bake stuff this weekend, but I'm definitely thinking that I should eventually move toward eating more like I do during the week, at least during the golf off season.  I'm a little addicted to seeing that scale move down.

Breakfast:  2 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese and guacamole, coffee

One of the best omelets I have ever made, which admittedly isn't saying that much.  I didn't have a ripe avo so I just used a mini cup of guac -- honestly, I may do that more often since the cups on average can be less expensive than even the small avos.  At least they were this week.

Snack:  A few Epic salt and pepper pork rinds

Didn't need many.  Just a few - lunch was delayed by bread baking.

Lunch:  Home pizza with ham and mushrooms

Tasty, though dough again well past its prime from the freezer.  I think I have one left.

Dinner:  Tuna melt bowl (tuna, avo mayo, dill pickles, green olives, american cheese), 24 oz All Day IPA

No bread in this tuna melt.  Just trying something new.  It was pretty good, we'll see how well it sticks.

Exercise:  Walk, 1.8 miles, just under 40 minutes.  A bit quicker today, actually felt good on the flat stretches.  Uphill was still a bit of a struggle -- okay, that's overselling it, but it's notably harder.  Felt faster, was faster.  Also:  9 holes, walking,  Took about an hour and a half.  My phone credited me with 6,200 steps or so.   I was at 4,600 beforehand (including the walk) so it was a good hike.

Things That Make Little Sense vol 900

Friday, November 19, 2021

A little bit of a frustrating morning.  First time in a while where I woke up and my body actively resisted doing so.  Got rid of some water, dozed and was still very much not ready to get up when the alarm went off.  So I didn't.  Plan was to do my grocery shopping before work but I cut it too close so I did not go and will have to do it this evening instead.  I just don't understand why there are days like that, I was in bed early, went to sleep at a reasonable time if a bit later than I planned and it seemed like I slept "ok".  Argh.

Also noting that there may well be a correlation between eating breakfast for dinner and less than optimal results on the scale.  May have to explore that in a little more depth, if there is truth to it I may need to change up my dinner options.  Doesn't seem to be an issue on weekend mornings, but that may just be a function of following it up with hours of walking around.  Something to investigate anyway.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:   Hamburger soup, HSCR toast w butter

Yup.

Dinner:  Taco bowl w/ Siete grain free tortilla chips

Yup.

Really, I hardly even need words for today's eating.

This weekend will be different.  I have a couple new menu items lined up and I bought a *lot* of groceries.  So I'll be making things.  All of the things.  Plus more for Thanksgiving and then the following weekend.

Exercise:  Nope.  Ended up being a rest day.  Will do some grocery shopping tonight but that doesn't really count.  ... It ended up being well over an hour of "fun".  Still not counting it.

Meh For Effort Egg Version

Thursday, November 18, 2021

All good so far today.  Managed to get up.  Walked for a third day in a row.  Standard eating planned for today and tomorrow.  No change on the scale but it felt like a consolidation day when I got up this morning.  Now I just need some good eating days to lauch things further downward ... as we roll into Thanksgiving week.  Guh.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Hamburger soup, HSCR toast w butter

First from the most recent batch and really good.  I added some leftover beef stock when I made it and I like what that seems to have done.

Dinner:  2 eggs scrambled with polish ham and some extra sharp cheddar, hash browns, 12 oz All Day IPA

Meh.  Not notably good, not sure why.  I ate it and it was a lot of food but I didn't really enjoy it.  I suspect the hash browns were the culprit.  Probably would have enjoyed more as a breakfast sandwich but I didn't have any regular bread thawed.  Or I could, you know, just not have the carbs.

Exercise:  Walk, 1.8 miles, 42 minutes.  Same route and time as yesterday.  A little gimpy but not too bad.  Definitely much colder and breezy.

Lost Sort Of In The 50s

Wednesday, November 17, 2021

Had a debate this morning with myself about walking.  Ultimately the fact that it was fifty degrees pushed me out the door.  I'm still pretty marginal when it comes to doing back to back days but other than a tight achilles today felt fine.  We'll see about later and about tomorrow morning but things are good for now.

Speaking of things that are good, another new low on the scale this morning.  I'm sure it wasn't entirely the result of yesterday's haircut but that certainly did not hurt...

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Taco bowl with Siete grain free tortilla chips

Very late, super short lunch so I went with the quickest thing I had on hand.  I'll eat the soup I had planned tomorrow.  Got a lot of chips out of that 5 serving bag (I did 4 when I had planned on 3 before opening).  Ate a couple while the meat was heating, they taste kinda like Wheat Thins to me.

Dinner:  3 eggs sunnyside, hash browns w extra butter, 2 sausage patties, Meijer spicy veg juice, 12 oz All Day IPA

GOAT bowl, sausage version.  Always good.  I like bacon better but only by so much.  This was a bit too much food, we'll see how well it gets digested before bedtime...

Exercise:  Walk, 1.8 miles, 42 minutes.  Same loop, a hair slower due to the aforementioned achilles.  Oh well, I made it.  Last 50 degree morning of the year, of that I'm quite certain.

Smoothed

Tuesday, November 16, 2021

I definitely like it when I wake up before my alarm and can ease into the walk.  Managed that today, getting up a half hour early.  Got out there, got it done, smooth.

Also got a haircut this morning and liked what I saw in the mirror.  Still tremendously fat, just less so.  Visibly less puffy.  Managed to get rid of most of what I put on over the weekend, just water weight as usual - it takes a lot of calories at this weight to put on real fat and while I ate a lot of starch it wasn't pounds of extra calories bad.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Hamburger soup, HSCR toast w butter

Standard.  I really need to not put odd pieces of bread into my freezer packets.

Dinner:  Taco bowl with Siete grain free chips, 12 oz All Day IPA

Tasty again.  Didn't even finish off the bag of chips somehow which is astounding.

Exercise:  Walk, 1.8 miles, 40 minutes.  A few seconds faster than Saturday, same route.  May be my preferred one for a while, we'll see.

Off On Wrong Foot

Monday, November 15, 2021

Ugh.  Monday.  Got off to a very inauspicious start -- the alarm went off, I shut it off, didn't jump right out of bed.  Checked what a thought was a couple minutes later ... NOPE.  It was more than an hour later, after 6:00 and too late to get out and walk due to early work obligations.  Argh.  I knew I was pushing it and stayed up too late last night but I had hopes that I had banked enough sleep to get by.  Apparently not.  I did not even feel like I went back to sleep but I must have.

It was also definitely not a successful weekend on the food front.  I didn't do quite as much damage as I feared but still, two days of notable jumps later I'm dissatisfied.  Should be a good week this week, maybe I can do better this weekend and build a little momentum before Thanksgiving.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Hamburger soup, HSCR toast w butter

Standard.  Tasty.

Dinner:  Taco Bowl w Siete grain free tortilla chips, 12 oz All Day IPA

Yum.  We'll see what the body thinks about the carb count.  Didn't seem to be a problem on Friday, but who knows.  Also:  You get quite a few of the chips in a serving, more than I would have guessed.

Exercise:  Nope.  See above.  FAIL.  Quite irked by this since I feel pretty decent, took some steep stairs this morning (at work) without issue - I have taken the elevator plenty of other times due to fatigue.

Very Much As Expected

Sunday, November 14, 2021

Fully expected to pay for yesterday and I did.   It probably didn't help that I didn't get in a walk this morning and things are a little backed up, but whatever.  I should really go to 2MAD on weekends too but there are so many good things to eat and this time of year I have a little more time at home to make them...

Breakfast:  Pancakes, 4 strips bacon, coffee

Easy leftovers breakfast, pancakes from last week and bacon from yesterday.

Lunch:  Pizza toast (just sauce and cheese), cracker crust pizza w bacon

Cleaned up some HSW bread and made a dent in the other stuff.  Was still hungry so I cleaned up the cheese and the bacon.  Did need the space in the fridge.

I definitely have the hunger today.  Probably all the CARBS.

Snack:  Epic salt and pepper pork rinds

The pizza didn't really do anything for the HUNGER but the pork rinds subtly killed it.

Dinner:  Deli roast beef in leftover tomato gravy with leftover TCD style mashed potatoes

Reheated nicely.  A splash of milk in the potatoes, an ice cube of beef broth in the gravy and both were like new.

Exercise:  Nope.  Miserable day and the legs definitely were in favor of a rest day.  It was a VERY lazy day.

Overshifted Much

Saturday, November 13, 2021

TGIS.  Was able to get to bed at a reasonable hour, but not early.  Slept okay.  Woke up ... at 3:15.  Got rid of some water and pretty quickly figured out that I was not going to get back to sleep.  Sigh.  I don't usually do too well on less than six hours.  But it's been going okay so far three hours later.  I felt better during my walk, it wasn't hard to get out there after being up for a while.  We'll see how hard I fade later but fingers crossed it will be OK.  But yeah, getting up that early would be an overshift of the schedule.  Big time.

Time to get cleaned up and see if those Siete chips did anything negative.

Breakfast:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese and avocado, slice HSW with butter, coffee

Whew.  That was a lot of food.  I'm stuffed.

Lunch:  Home pizza with ham and mushrooms

Not a lot of pizzazz in this old dough from the freezer, but it was still tasty.

Dinner:  Deli roast beef in homemade tomato gravy, TCD style mashed potatoes

I had fun with a new toy - an electric vegetable peeler - and winged the gravy (butter, flour, seasonings, onion, beef stock and tomato sauce), turned out delicious.  And I have more for lunch tomorrow and will try freezing a container of the gravy for another meal.  I may yet have an All Day IPA.

Yeah, WAY too many carbs today but they sure have been tasty.

Exercise:  Walk, 1.8 miles, 41 minutes.  I added two blocks onto Thursday's distance, largely repeating that route.  It's not easy, there is a good sized hill that has to be navigated both ways.  Felt a little more spry than usual so I think the pace was slightly better.  I do hope to get down to a legit 20 min/mile or better soon.

Storming In November

Friday, November 12, 2021

Glad to see the end of the week.  Busy day, busy week, wiped out.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Hamburger soup, HSW toast w butter

Standard.  Short lunch, had to eat fast.

Dinner:  Taco bowl (taco meat, cheddar jack, mini guac and sour cream), Siete grain free tortilla chips, 12 oz All Day IPA

Impulse bought the chips at the store and it was a nice way to mix up the taco bowl.  Adds carbs of course, but oh well.  I didn't eat a ton.

Exercise:  Nope.  Thunderstorm when I got up this morning.  I did walk around the grocery store for an hour after work.

Long Week Hey

Thursday, November 11, 2021

Finally getting to this after dinner and I'm spent.  Had planned to go back to the office tonight but I'm going to have to do the weekend instead.  Too bad.

Did get a nice complement yesterday, nice that someone sees weight loss.  I sometimes have a hard time seeing it but I can feel it and that might be even more important.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Ham and cheese sandwiches, a couple chips with some kind of cheese spread, bites of potato salad and pasta salad, coffee

Seminar food.  It was fine, but it made me hungry.  Way too many carbs.

Dinner:  2 eggs scrambled with ham and american cheese, Meijer spicy veg juice, 12 oz All Day IPA

Got home late, fixed the fastest thing I could think of that wasn't taco salad.

Exercise:  Walk, about 1.7 miles, 41 minutes.  Not the same route.  Was late getting out the door but I made it.

Overcome Sorta

Wednesday, November 10, 2021

Sigh.  Neither habit nor consistency nor force of will always wins.

I was quite tired last night so I went to bed early and fell asleep without issue.  Woke up about 2:30 and couldn't get back to sleep in bed.  Felt fine other than dry sinus sniffles.  Moved to the chair and a while later was able to doze off.  Woke up with the alarm at the usual time and uhhh no.  Body was having none of that.  Eventually went back to bed -- under the covers as I was cold -- and didn't get up until 7:30.  Yikes.  I was most awake at 2:30, even compared to now, six hours later.  I'm not too upset about the lack of walk since I went hard yesterday and I will be a bit more active than usual this afternoon, but still.  I want to be consistent and this definitely was not.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Keto bowl with ground beef

"Meat of your choice, cheese sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, guacamole, shredded cheese, & sour cream "

I didn't get any cheese sauce and the onion wasn't notable but whatever, it was fantastic.  Last time I got steak and the large size, this was definitely better, though it was so good that I could have certainly demolished a large.  If this place was close by I'd eat there a decent amount.

Dinner:  2 eggs over medium, hash browns in butter, 2 sausage patties, Meijer jalapeno verde salsa, spicy veg juice, 12 oz All Day IPA, Epic salt and pepper pork rinds

Only an 8.5/10 effort but delicious none the less.  All a bit much but I'm OK with it.

Exercise:  Not really.  Walked around for half an hour plus this afternoon doing an appraisal but that really doesn't count.

Partial Force Of Will

Tuesday, November 9, 2021

Got somewhat more resolute late yesterday afternoon.  Made myself do some things.  Went back to the office after work and picked things up.  Came home, moved the alarm up and went to bed.  Got up and out there for a full walk.  The only thing not done so far is get to work earlier.  Still, a success.

Spent way too much of the walk wondering why I don't feel better.  I mean I do feel better than I did, no doubt.  But I haven't had much pep and I certainly recall feeling physically better the last time I was this light.  Is it just too many carbs?  Too many accumulated nagging injuries?  I am ready for some pep. I'd also like a second opinion from another scale - I'm entirely confident that I'm shrinking, just question if it's as good as my scale says.

Otherwise, happy and in a good mood this morning.  Dumped the weekend water and broke through another lower bound.  Success is motivating. I do have to worry about a couple lunches out this week but I'll get through.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Hamburger soup, HSW toast w butter

Standard.

Dinner:  Taco bowl, 12 oz All Day IPA, some Epic salt and pepper pork rinds

Stopped at the grocery store after work, took too long.  Seriously considered just having pork rinds for dinner - not all that hungry, tired and late.  But I rebounded and had a bowl, which was a taco salad minus the lettuce and jalapenos tonight.

Exercise:  Walk, 2.7 miles, 1 hour 3 minutes.  Longest one yet - I nearly overlapped my old loop, slicing off 10 blocks but having 6 blocks to get on and back home added back.  A pretty nice morning so there were several people out.  Looking grim for the weekend and after though.

Retention Pond

Monday, November 8, 2021

I'm getting a lot better at noticing when I'm retaining water.  Not surprisingly that is the case today, given that I ate oh, I dunno, 200g carb just in rice yesterday.  Maybe more than that.  It was a lot, anyway.

Felt a little bad that I passed up a nice 50 degree morning and didn't walk.  Decided before going to bed last night that it would be advisable, as my legs aren't too happy and since I golfed in the afternoon yesterday.  I did get up, somewhat reluctantly -- due to eating too much and too late and who knows what else I had the worst snore score in a couple weeks at least.  Even though I got eight hours it wasn't the most restful night.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:   Hamburger soup, HSW toast w butter

Fresh batch of soup.  As usual, would be better if frozen first.

Dinner:  Taco Salad, 12 oz All Day IPA

Satisfactory.  And I think water release may finally be kicking in.

Exercise:  Nope.  Rest day.

Replace Those Batteries

Sunday, November 7, 2021

Grateful for the extra hour, even if I didn't make good use of it.  Stayed up way too late watching a football game, then my body was confused come morning and I woke up around what would have been the usual time.  Oh well.  I'll adjust.  DST remains stupid.

Breakfast:  Buttermilk pancakes w butter and maple syrup, 3 strips bacon, Meijer spicy veg juice, coffee

Fresh batch.  Fantastic.  And as usual I will have a couple meals worth to toss in the freezer.

Lunch:  Yellow rice with extra butter, diced ham, glass of whole milk

Pantry cleanup.  Plus a little fridge cleanup.  Tasty but carby LDO.

Dinner:  2 eggs over medium, leftover yellow rice, 2 sausage patties, jalapeno verde salsa, Meijer spicy veg juice, 12 oz Miller Lite

Way too much food.  Plowed through it though since I was kinda hungry.

Exercise:  18 holes with cart, 11k steps.

November Niceness

Saturday, November 6, 2021

A very nice day for November.  Glad that it happened on a weekend.  Supposed to be beautiful again tomorrow.  Yes.  And it didn't hurt that the scale was kind this morning despite a relative lack of exercise and larger dinner.

Breakfast:  2 eggs over medium, hash browns, 3 strips bacon, raisin toast w homemade strawberry jam, coffee

Standard pre golf breakfast out.  Always tasty.

Lunch:  12 oz Miller Lite

After golf

Dinner:  Home pizza with bacon and mushrooms

The old self-rising flour and parmesan cracker type crust.  Prompted by looking at the archives of course.  Tasty.  Caused me to realize that I forgot to buy ham.  Oops.

Exercise:  18 holes with cart, 11k+ steps.  I'm pretty tired and can use the extra hour of sleep tonight.

The Wall

Friday, November 5, 2021

Very glad that today is Friday.

I got an amazing amount accomplished around the house yesterday evening.  All sorts of projects were either finished or progress made.  I don't often accomplish so much.  Regrettably I was wired enough that it was hard to shut down (and I was already late because of how long the laundry takes).  Managed to get up this morning but wasn't moving anywhere very fast.  Looking forward to that extra hour this weekend.

Definitely notable when I have carbs for dinner, even when it feels like not that many.  Kinda wondering if I'm yo-yoing in and out of ketosis.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Hamburger soup, raisin toast w butter

Again.  And good again.

Dinner:  2 eggs sunny, hash browns in butter, 5 strips Meijer bacon, jalapeno verde salsa, sour cream, Meijer spicy veg juice

Been a while since I just completely nailed it.  Everything 10/10 would eat again.  I was hungry, so I ate a lot of food and now I am not hungry.

Exercise:  Not really.  Didn't walk but did eventually go and do my grocery shopping.  So I did get in some movement before work but it really doesn't count.

That Power

Thursday, November 4, 2021

The power of fewer carbs remains impressive as more water departed last evening and overnight.  I don't enjoy getting up in the middle of the night but it's worth it I guess.  We'll see if I can keep things relatively in check this evening as I have to deviate from the daily taco salad.  Must say that I'm really enjoying what the scale has been telling me - guess I should do as many walk, soup and salad days as I can stand, huh?

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Hamburger soup, HSCR toast w butter

Again.  And good again.  Not sick of it yet.

Dinner:  2 eggs scrambled w a splash of milk, cheddar jack cheese, 2 sausage patties, Meijer jalapeno verde salsa, HSCR toast w butter, 12 oz All Day IPA

Lots of words for not that much dinner.  We'll see how much worse it is than the taco salad.  A little too much starch I think - I had an oddball crust.

Exercise:  Walk, 2.1 miles, about 48 minutes.  Same as my longest morning route to date so I knew the mileage. May do my grocery shopping tomorrow morning (or maybe not) so undecided if I'll be able to go further this week.  Anyway, it wasn't painful though it didn't go by quite as quickly as yesterday.

Arrows Aligning

Wednesday, November 3, 2021

All of the arrows are aligning in the proper direction.  Weight down.  Exercise up.  How I feel up.  Clothes fitting up.  Mood up.  The day is just getting started of course and it could all turn to **** but the first few hours have been good.

I'm not too surprised by the weight (other than by the size of the drop) since I let a lot of additional water go.  Turns out a low carb dinner is good for aiding that process.  I may need to be just a little restrictive on the weekends and maybe there is more yet that would flush out.  Anyway, new low for the year.  Yay.

It was hard getting up this morning - I was sound asleep and dreaming when the alarm went off which has not been the case lately.  Was about 15 minutes late getting out the door but I made it.  And the walk was the most issue-free one I have had yet - no physical complaints, didn't feel strained, it went by quickly and without incident.  It wasn't the full distance yet but it was more than Monday.  No aches or pains is a very very good thing.  There were notably fewer people out, I guess cold will do that.

Tried on the next shirt size down and holy cow, they fit.  I could wear them.  I probably won't, not until I lose more, but I did start the process of getting them washed.  I think this is also going to give me some things to purge - either because I've saved shirts in marginal condition or that I otherwise won't wear, and once I'm comfortably in that size I'm getting rid of the biggest size ones.  Win-win.  I'm wearing the next size down pants this morning too for the first time, not too many pounds to go before the next one (and last on hand!).  I won't even mind if I have to buy some new smaller clothes someday.  That's probably fifty pounds away or more though, I can wear oversize stuff for a while.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup

Lunch:  Hamburger soup, HSCR toast w butter

This is not a recording.  But it is working.  Soup is much better after freezing, dunno why.

Dinner:  Taco salad, 12 oz All Day IPA

Once again, the same as yesterday.  I'm out of stuff now though, so tomorrow will be different.

Exercise:  Walk, 1.6 miles, 39 minutes.  Same route I did on 10/26, same time more or less.  I am still very slow - not to the point yet where I have pep but I was definitely closer today.

Lagging Intensity

Tuesday, November 2, 2021

Not a lot of pep this morning.  It wasn't hard to talk myself out of walking, the prospect of a few sprinkles was enough.  Legs are still not super happy with me either and that did not help.  So we'll give them a genuine rest day and try to hit it tomorrow.  Also think I would like to move my alarm back when the time changes - hey, I'll split that free hour with you body - so I don't have to rush out the door.  Maybe a little gear up time would be helpful idk.  Can't say I enjoyed the blip up on the scale either.

Failed at more and better sleep last night.  I should have gotten enough, but the quality has been lacking some lately.  Snore score was low, but I still woke up several times and am very dozy this morning.  Sigh.

In the fun department I was shopping at Amazon last night looking to see if they had any deals on pants the next size or two down and what do you know, I found one that I bought previously ... on March 25, 2013.  Not long after I hit my low and in prep for a trip if I recall correctly.  I'm about 98% sure I still have that pair and if I can drop that next 20 lb I'll be wearing them...

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Hamburger soup, HSCR toast w butter

Exact same thing as yesterday.

Dinner:  Taco salad, 12 oz All Day IPA

Ditto.  Literally the only difference is today I had one fewer cup of coffee and added a can of Dr Pepper Zero Sugar after lunch.

Exercise:  Nope.  Rest day.  I will say that I physically feel better this afternoon and evening.

Nobody Has Ever Wished You Happy November

Monday, November 1, 2021

October is in the books and I would describe it as reasonably successful.  Maybe even better than that.  Hard to get a real accurate assessment given that I was on vacation at the start of the month.  Still, I'm a lot lighter than I was before I left and that's despite a big run up when I got back.  Some more consistent exercise and a tighter weekday meal rotation have been good things.  Let's keep it going.

Also in the plus new front I tried on a pair of pants from the next size down and they fit, which is good because the current size (and the pair I'm wearing today which is one size bigger yet) are now too big.  I don't have much of a supply of the next size down, so I need to hurry up and lose about another 25 so I can get down to the smallest size I have on hand (from the 2013-early 2014 era iirc).  I'd have a ton of dress shirts too if I lost that poundage.  It's possible I might have some small sizes yet but they won't be of my preferred pants which I only discovered 10-15 years ago.

Up a bit on the scale this morning, way too much starch and french fries too.  More normal eats coming up today.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.  Three cup day.

Lunch:  Hamburger soup, HSCR toast w butter

Standard.  New batch not as good as the prior batch.  Did a better job on the bread though.

Dinner:  Taco salad, 12 oz All Day IPA

Only difference from last week was that they were out of fresh pico when I got groceries so I subbed some medium Meijer fresh salsa.  It has a pretty good kick, I'm definitely feeling it.

Exercise:  Walk, 1.2 miles, 27 minutes.  The bare minimum.  Everything from the knees down complained a lot about this, at least up to the last two blocks or so.  Didn't sleep great last night which didn't help, I think that plus the afternoon golf meant that a recovery day was in order.  Going to try for more & better sleep tonight.
