May 2013 be a breakthrough year for me and a happy and healthy year for anyone reading.
I did not stay up to see it in, preferring instead to greet the dawn. I went for a walk and then went to the beach to see the sun rise. Beautiful. I am going to be more appreciative of such things this year.
Pre-breakfast: 1/2 oz salami, coffee. A tiny bit of fuel before the hike.
Breakfast: 3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese and avocado; sausage; coffee.

Lunch: None. Was actually too full and had an early dinner.
Dinner: Strip steak, green beans.
This was a grocery store steak, broiled. It was OK. Wouldn't be my choice but as a guest I try not to be too critical of other people's choices and cooking.
Also: 1/2 glass of pinot noir. A nice treat while cleaning up my kitchen.
Exercise: I got up at the usual time and did my favorite 3 mile loop (which showed as 3.3 miles on the pedometer today). That is about the perfect distance for a regular morning walk, at least it is for me. After that I had some coffee and waited for it to get closer to sunrise, then I went to a local park and hiked down to the beach. Lots of stairs, it was a good workout. The not-so-trusty pedometer clocked it at 3.2 additional miles. I'd guess it was more like 2, but with the stairs it was an excellent workout. It was also very peaceful -- there was nobody else there in part because it was still dark when I started -- and I'll definitely be going back. I feel absolutely wonderful today.
