Walk On For Once

 Monday, October 18, 2021

Well that was unexpected.  I set an early alarm despite not getting to bed real early, expecting that I'd end up shutting it off and snoozing, but instead I woke up ten minutes ahead and was at least semi-functional to the point where I actually convinced myself I needed to get up and walk.  How about that. I didn't get to the office real early but it was nice to be able to have a leisurely morning prior to departure.

I do hope that I can persist and that future walks involve fewer aches and pains.  Feet, knees, groin, all grumbled during parts of the walk but I made it.  Hoping to be more rested next time too.

Periodically reading through the archives when I have spare time, it's interesting to me how things have evolved.  For now I'm pretty content not micromanaging calories or carbs or anything else, just trying to stick with 2MAD during the week, better choices, less processed crap that sort of thing.  As long as it's working, great.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Usual.  Have decided that I hate drinking out of a regular mug at work, it doesn't stay hot long at all.  Travel mugs work so much better, I just didn't have a clean one today.

Lunch:  Homemade hamburger soup, homemade soaked cinnamon raisin bread w/ butter

Produce of yesterday's cooking efforts.  Skipped the green beans in the soup, so it looks a lot like the WAP soup just with a can of tomato sauce and some veg juice.  Tasted good.  Bread was from a recipe I found on the internet, also good, though it would have been better if I had more patience, rolled it out and rolled it into more layers so the cinnamon and raisins were more spread out.  Oh well.  Like I said, tasted good.  I should look and see if this soaking method lines up with WAP or not, it was just a random internet recipe.

Dinner:  Leftover BBQ crockpot brisket, hash browns in butter, Meijer kosher dill chips.  12 oz All Day IPA

Turned out better than I thought it might, had some significant doubts while fixing it.  Went hash browns out of laziness and to clean up a package taking space in the freezer, they were past their prime.

Exercise:  Walk, pedometer said just over 2 miles which should be right given it was 20 blocks and just short of 45 minutes.  I was reasonably happy with the route, seems like I didn't have to dodge too many tree branches or other obstacles.  One in a row!

Incidentally it was also nice to get a little confirmation of (modest) weight loss and that maybe my scale is more or less accurate -- I put on my cold weather walking jacket for the first time in a while and it's definitely looser.  Even if my midsection is still bloated it's nice to know that it is ... not AS bloated.
