Not A Pain Fan

Sunday, February 4, 2024

Ouch.  I do not know what I did to my right knee and leg last week, but it's a mess.  All the walking I did yesterday - maybe limping would be a better description - did not help.  Today, it is quite painful.  I have never, ever had an issue with that knee or leg, it has always been the left side.  It is a challenging adjustment to not be able to depend on the right leg.  I sure hope it's a temporary thing.

Nothing else of note.  The crap I ate yesterday balanced out the exercise precisely.

Breakfast:  Sausage and cheese omelet, raisin toast w a little grape jelly, coffee

Went out to breakfast, business reasons.  It was a good thing.

Lunch:  Not quite italian beef sandwiches - Papa Charlie's italian beef, smokehouse cheddar, hot giardiniera on Meijer italian sub buns

Not authentic but pretty tasty.  I'm not crazy about the ingredient list, but the beef was good.  The peppers had serious kick.  And the rolls worked out fine, though of course I shoud have just had a bowl.

Later, 2 slices of mexicheese toast, cleanup.

Dinner:  Chuck roast, mashed potatoes, carrots, gravy, NSA peaches, 12 oz Miller Lite, a slice of banana nut bread with a little butter

All very tasty.

Fourthmeal:  TB chx ench burrito, double taco, loaded nachos

Exercise:  Nope.  Not a chance, not today.

Day totals:  $ 18.25 +$7.92 spent, way over on carbs, epic fail

Unscientific Experimenting

Saturday, February 3, 2024

I learned a few interesting things last night.  Interesting to me, anyway.  One thing I did not need to learn, that I already knew, is that having a blowout like I did jacks up my heart rate.  It was elevated when I took down numbers before bed and it was definitely still up there when I woke up at 3:00.  It was back down to normal when I took morning measurements about 8:30.

Another thing it did was jack up my blood pressure.  The pile of flour, fat and garbage seed oil bumped the top number up about 25 points to the worst reading I've had in a month.  There wasn't anything else I can attribute it to, it was the dinner no doubt.  Awful.  I need to remember that the next time I'm tempted.  It was lower this morning but still somewhat elevated.

Weirdly enough, I'm actually down on the scale.  I dumped a little extra water and for whatever reason the pizza didn't make me thirsty like it usually does so I didn't drink that much.

Anyway, it's not likely to be a great weekend for eating, though at least this afternoon I have some plans to get out and about.  Which reminds me, I need to get moving.

Breakfast:  3 CF sausage patties, plain greek yogurt w wild blueberries, coffee

Cleaned up the sausage, remembered halfway through to take the photo.

Lunch:  2 McD beef patties, late a slice of deluxe pizza and combos

LOL wut.  I ordered two mcdoubles, plain.  I received two burgers - a single beef patty, no cheese, on bun.  So I was shorted two beef patties and cheese.  Oh well.  The other stuff was garbage eaten after a couple hours of limping around outside.

Dinner:  2 eggs, leftover new york strip, hash browns in olive oil, avocado.  12 oz Miller Lite

The steak reheated nicely, sliced thin and heated in a pan with butter.

Exercise:  Yeah.  I walked a neighborhood for a good two hours.  Slowly, as I am having some significant knee pain, but I did it.

Day totals:  $4.02 + $ 6.66 spent, carbs not totaled, fail.

A Major Crack

Friday, February 2, 2024

Finally cracked tonight.  I'm not proud.

Breakfast:  CF sausage patties, coffee

Standard.

Lunch:  Soup, grilled cheese

Not standard.

Dinner:  Dominos thin pep, bread bites, 12 oz Miller Lite, Jack's paleo cookies

Didn't get home until 7:30.  Snapped.  Sigh.  Cookies were almost the only impulse buy, this is the 2nd time I've found them on the rack marked down 60%.  I'd never pay full price (and I shouldn't eat them at any price), but at this price I bit.

Exercise:  Nope.  Very tired this morning.

Day totals:  About $55 at the store, I'll have to add it up, plus $8.47 at Dominos.  Way over on carbs, very much FAIL.

File Under More Of Same

Thursday, February 1, 2024

Another day, another gain.  This one was deserved, as yesterday's food choices were not ideal.  There is going to be some of that, but still, not ideal.  I did manage to avoid eating more after I had my late dinner sub, as I would have been perfectly happy to plow through a bunch of chips or something.  It's so important to have nothing on hand.

Had a checkup, the nurse that took my BP got a fantastically low number, even better than the nice low one I got when I did it at home earlier.  Good news.

Even with recent gains and serious exercise failure, January was still a major win.  Dumped all sorts of water and got the BP moving in the right direction.  Now, I just need to buckle down and also figure out how to break through the plateau.  I foresee a lot more exercise coming.

Breakfast:  CF sausage patties, coffee

Standard.

Lunch:  Soup, pickle

Also standard.

Dinner:  NY strip, garlic mash, green beans, steak and potato soup, slice of bread, spicy shrimp app, 24 oz All Day IPA, a couple bites of apple tart w ice cream, Wendys baconator

Quite excessive.

Exercise:  Nope.  I tried to go to bed on time, but was chased out by wierd cramping etc and I ended up getting six hours or more in the recliner.  Was tired when I had to get up for my early appointment.

Day totals:  $ 0.00  spent,  over on carbs, not a success

Bloat On Up

Wednesday, January 31, 2024
Day Thirty

Welp.  A thoroughly unsatisfactory end to the month.  Another jump.  And more fail.

It ended up being a very long and busy day, the eating reflected that fact.  Not good.

Breakfast:  CF sausage patties, coffee

Okay at least there was a good start.

Lunch:    Jimmy Johns #9 minus mayo and V&O, add mustard, peppers and pickle.  Salt and vinegar chips, diet lemonade

The chips were a notable stumble.  Doh.  Had a lunch meeting so I had to have lunch at my desk afterward.

Dinner:  Deluxe sub, 12 oz Miller Lite

Had an event.  Didn't eat any of the hors d'oevures or sweets, but failed by having a sandwich later.

Exercise:  Nope.  Needing a LOT of sleep right now.

Day totals:  About $30.00 spent (with tip at lunch), way way over, FAIL.

Sometimes I Hate Being Correct

Tuesday, January 30, 2024
Day Twenty Nine

Yeah, I knew that I ate too much again yesterday.  It was, as predicted, too much for the power of tacos to overcome.  So it goes.  I had the last of my weekend leftovers for lunch today, so I should start getting back on track here.  I do have an event tomorrow night that will be a problem, and another thing this weekend, but most days I should be able to do the usual thing.

Breakfast:  3 strips CF hickory bacon, coffee

Again.

Lunch:  Grilled leftover meatloaf sandwich with butter and provolone, pickle

One of the best home meatloaf sandwiches I've ever had, and I didn't even need to resort to mayo or ketchup.  Just outstanding.  And satiating!  I was fine being done eating, which was nice.

Dinner:   3 CF eggs scrambled w veggie cream cheese, avocado.  3 strips CF hickory bacon, 12 oz Miller Lite, 2 slices garlic mexicheese toast

Fattening but delicious.  Cleaned up the bread and this package of mexicheese (I got Sargento, which I never do) and it is just absolutely perfect.

Exercise:  Nope.  This is getting frustrating.  I got eight hours of sleep, it felt like decent sleep, but I was still tired and didn't get up and going.  I'm going to have to force the issue.  January has been a complete and utter failure.

Day totals: $0.00 spent, carbs not tracked, not a success due to being way over.  4 slices of bread again.

Too Much Food

Monday, January 29, 2024
Day Twenty-Eight

I knew even as I ate all the things that it was too much food.  It wasn't enough to make me uncomfortably full, but I was very full none the less.  And it lasted.  So much of my eating is just because I like to eat.  It's not because I'm hungry or deprived or need the calories.  I have enough fat to not need to eat a thing for months.  I eat because I like to eat and yesterday I ate too much.

Anyway, I also had too much food for lunch.  I think I'm going to have to reverse course on the idea that maybe I wasn't eating enough.  The last couple meals definitely feel like too much, breakfast excluded.  I have some leftovers for lunch tomorrow, tacos tonight and it'll be time to get back on the wagon.

Breakfast:  3 strips CF hickory bacon, coffee

I didn't take a photo, phone was charging.

Lunch:  4 eggs scrambled with mexicheese, tomato, onion, jalapeno, cilantro, sour cream.  Avocado.  Leftover chorizo gravy

Tasty as leftovers even if I ate all of the biscuits yesterday.  Too much food.

Dinner:  2x mexican 2x american tacos, 12 oz Miller Lite, 4 slices mexicheese garlic toast

I don't think even the power of tacos can overcome this kind of overeating.

Exercise:  Nope.  I was up way too late last night.  Got maybe six hours, probably less.  Inadequate.

Day totals:   $ 7.09 + tip spent,  carbs not tracked, not a success

Back Up To The Top Rope

Sunday, January 28, 2024
Day Twenty Seven

Another up-blip, back to the top of this range I've been stuck in.  Given that the bottom of the range is only a pound or so -- less than two, anyway -- lower, it's hard to get too excited.  I'm not surprised, since I ate a lot of food yesterday and had popcorn.  But I am pleased that I have not blown up, haven't given in to any desires to have pizza or chips or sugar.  I am still puzzled about the plateau, but I'll keep tweaking things to see if I can break it.  I may even call upon the power of tacos.

Oh yeah, and I need to add exercise to the mix.  Idiot.

Breakfast:  Greek yogurt (7) with wild blueberries (3), coffee (0)

Again.

Lunch:  2 eggs, cornbread with chorizo gravy, mexicheese, onion, tomato, sour cream and avocado.

Forgot to take a picture.  Oops.  Was hungry.

Very tasty.  Not going to take the time at the moment to calculate the carb count, I know it's way over.  This menu was planned a few days ago, with the intent to do something more carby as a changeup.

Also:  Extra biscuits.  Darned tasty carbs.

Dinner:  Meatloaf, box mashed potatoes, cheesy green beans, peaches, 12 oz Miller Lite

Same deal.   Since I have leftovers there will be similar carbation tomorrow, too.

Exercise:  Nope.  It was a decidedly lazy day.

Day totals:  $0.00 spent,  well over on carbs, non-success (but planned)

More Understandable Bumps And The Things That Cause Them

Saturday, January 27, 2024
Day Twenty Six

Okay then, this one I understand.  Small bump up on the scale, prompted no doubt by the lateness of eating and the excessiveness of peanuts.  I'm okay with it, not something that will be repeated soon.  As mentioned I'm going to bump up the amount I eat and be a little looser with the carbs, but nothing crazy.  And I'm also thinking very hard about whether it's time to go back to 2MAD or otherwise shrink my eating window.  Maybe I'll take an intermediate step and bring my breakfast to work and just eat it if/when I get hungry.  We'll see.  Exercise is also a wild card there.

Slept poorly.  Woke up at 2:30, was awake until about 6:00, then dozed off until about 8:00.  Which, predictably, screwed up my planned schedule for the morning.  But, oh well, life happens.  And since I have decided to make a trip to the farm that already kinda messes things up.

Breakfast:  Meijer greek yogurt, plain (7), wild blueberries (3), coffee (0)

I bought a different yogurt for when this kind is gone -- it's the Meijer organic version.  For whatever reason, the new variety only has 5g carb for the same serving size.  Also 20 fewer calories, so it might be legit.  It'll be a bit before I get to it, but we'll see if it's notably different in any way.  Of all the carbs out there I might be the least worried about plain yogurt carbs.

Lunch:  3 egg (2) omelet with avocado (4) and veggie cream cheese (4), 4 strips CF hickory bacon (0)

Had a lot of avo since I bought a bagful last week on sale at Walmart.  Super delicious.  I think I might make this a regular feature, it's my old favorite lunch out except no sausage patties.

Dinner:  8 oz taco meat (1), mexicheese (3), jalapenos (1), trace sour cream (0).  12 oz Miller Lite (3).  Popcorn w butter (20)

Had the popcorn as a treat, since my original plan was to have potatoes with dinner.  Put me slightly over but not too bad.  And yes, I do love butter and salt and coconut oil.  Interestingly (to me), when I packaged up the leftover taco meat, my 1C containers would only hold maybe 5oz each, so I ended up with 2 x 4 oz (more or less).

Exercise:   Nope.  Annoyed by this.  At least it's Saturday and I will be very active.  Okay, somewhat active.

Day totals:   $ ~ 92.00  spent,  38 g carb, not quite a success but not terrible.

Went to the farm, bought a couple dozen eggs, four pounds of bacon, 3 packages of sausage patties, a pound of chorizo, a couple pounds of bulk italian sausage.  Should be good for a few weeks.

Smoldipped

Friday, January 26, 2024
Day Twenty Five

Hey, how about that, finally a small dip.  Still not out of range, but any downward movement was happy news.  Really, the only things different about yesterday were I ate a bit more (add 2x McDoubles) and I stood for more than an hour and a half straight at my social function.  So, not much.

Super busy weekend lined up.  I'm not going to get half the things done that I want, but I'm going to give it my best.  I just hope to need less sleep than I have this week, I've been struggling with mornings.

Breakfast:  CF sausage links (0), coffee (0)

I admit, I forgot a photo so this is yesterday's.  I ate the exact same thing, I'm sure the links were just arranged differently.

Lunch:  Soup (10), pickle (1), 2 slices provolone cheese (1)

Not the best snacking cheese but I have some to clean up.  Trying to get in a bit more protein.

Dinner:  Keto bowl with ground beef (20e), later 12 oz Miller Lite (3), Hot chipotle peanuts (18)

Eh, first impulse buy in a while.  Too many carbs.  Would have been fine if I didn't have the peanuts.

Exercise:  Nope.  Barely dragged myself out of bed.   Snoozed until 7:30.  Awful.  Hoping to get going this weekend.

Day totals:  $ 15.37 + $ 66.29 (groceries) spent,   53 g carb (est), not a success

Nothingness

Thursday, January 25, 2024
Day Twenty Four

I am completely baffled.  No movement in either direction today.  Exactly the same number.  So we have two weeks of crazy fast loss due to water depletion, and now ten days of nothing.  I truly do not believe that there are so many stray carbs hidden in what I've been eating to stall like this.  It may be that there are some.  Also, it may be that fake sugar is a problem.  I don't eat a lot of it - jello, an occasional zero sugar soda, one pint of Nicks.  But I'm so fat that I truly believe that any obstacle shouldn't last this long, not when I'm eating reasonably.

So it's experiment time.  One thing I think I may need to do, strangely, is eat more.  I should try and figure out the calories on what I take in, it may be that it's too low, though that would be a little surprising.  Also, more protein.  I think I may bump the allowed carbs slightly, though I do need to read up on the latest when it comes to eating carbs and fat together.  It may be that I need to go back to 2MAD and shrink my eating window.  I don't think that would be super hard since I don't eat that much for breakfast.  And of course I need to exercise.

Something has to give, and what that something is, is this plateau.

Breakfast:  CF sausage links (0), coffee (0)

As mentioned, I really like CF sausage.  I think the weather is going to work to get out for a restock this weekend, which is good, since I'll be out of eggs and sausage and working on my last package of bacon.

Lunch:  Soup (10), pickle (1), 2x McDoubles plain no bun (2)

Had a prelunch McSnack, part of the mission to eat a little more, more protein.  Did the job.

Dinner: 3 eggs (2) poached in leftover pasta sauce (7) w parm (1), 12 oz Miller Lite (3), Cabot extra sharp cheddar (1), SF lime jello (0)

It's funny, I had an after work social event.  Passed on the mexican food bar (which in all honesty I should not have) and finally left about 7:30.  I had thoughts of just getting some takeout or drive thru food but absolutely nothing sounded good except BBQ and we don't have a convenient BBQ place in this town.  So I went home and had eggs again.

Exercise:  Nope.  Frustrating.  Was in bed last night on time, could not shut down the brain.  Very tired when I woke up and clearly needed more sleep.

Day totals:  $4.02 spent,  27 g carb, success I guess

No Expectations Nothing Met

Wednesday, January 24, 2024
Day Twenty Three

Sigh.  Another min-gain.  I really had no idea what to expect this morning.  I felt like I actually looked a bit leaner, a little flatter in the belly.  But I had no expectations.  Knew it could be up, could be down.  And the answer is ... up.  Oh well.  Life goes on.  But it is just plain strange to me that I'd be plateaued at this number.

Slept decently, but I lazed about way too long this morning.  I need to be better about kicking myself in the butt and moving.  There is no reason why I couldn't have gotten out the door in plenty of time to exercise, instead I lazed until I was lateish for work.  Pathetic.

Also, an end of day note:  Had the hunger today.  That has NOT been missed.

Breakfast:  6 strips CF black pepper garlic bacon (0), coffee (0)

Double portion today, was somewhat hungry.  I have sausage links to cook to cover the rest of the week.

Lunch:  Soup (10), pickle (1)

Standard.  Good as always.  It's probably also a good thing that I don't have anything snackable on hand.

Dinner:  3 CF eggs (2) poached in leftover pasta sauce (7) with parm (1), Cabot extra sharp cheddar cheese (2), 12 oz Miller Lite (3), SF lime Jello (0)

I may have to axe some things I like even though they don't have many carbs.  We'll see.  I was very tempted to make the drive to go get a keto bowl -- I was hungry -- but stuck with the plan.  It helps that I like the eggs.  They are quick and easy too.  I am now out of farm eggs, hoping to maybe make a trip out this weekend.

ETA:  Nick's mint chip (4).

Might be my last pint of Nick's, it kinda looks like Meijer is going to stop carrying it too.  At least that's what it looks like in the app.  Crazy that I just bought this pint a couple weeks ago on sale and they had plenty!

Exercise:  Nope.  Effing pathetic.

Day totals:  $0.00 spent,   30 g carbs, success

Fully Plateaued

Tuesday, January 23, 2024
Day Twenty Two

Boinggg, a rebound back up.  I think I am officially plateaued.  I've been stuck right around this number now for a solid week.  Annoying.  BP number was also higher this morning, boo.

Anyway, more of the same.  I went to bed on time last night, nice and early.  It took a little while to fall asleep, but not bad.  Woke up at 5:00 but wasn't ready to be awake, ended up sleeping late, until after 7:30.  And I would have still liked more.  At least once I got going things have been OK.

Just going to keep on.   May have to cut a few of the peripheral things, try others.  I think the basic theory here - real food, minimal carbs, not sugar - is sound.  I need to be more active.   And I need to be patient.

Breakfast:  3 strips CF black pepper garlic bacon (0), coffee (0)

Again.

Lunch:   Leftover CF italian sausage (0) with pasta sauce (7), mozz and parm (2).  Pork rinds (1).

Tasty.  Cleaned up the few pork rinds I had left too.

Dinner:  Leftover chicken breast (0) with guac, sour cream and jalapenos (~ 5), Cabot extra sharp cheddar cheese (2), 12 oz Miller Lite (3)

I ate maybe half of the chicken (and none of the pictured salsa).  Just wasn't feeling it, wanted beef.  Didn't have any beef, so I had some cheese.  This reminds me, I better thaw a soup for tomorrow.

Exercise:  Nope.  Slept.  It was icy out there but still, this was sleep-driven.

Day totals:  $0.00 spent, 20 g carbs, success

Mixed Bowl

Monday, January 22, 2024
Day Twenty-One

And now we wait to see what the impact of the carb load ends up being.  The initial result was amusing, as I dropped the weight I "gained" the day before.  Didn't notice any other effects, really.  To be seen.

I did have another very good BP number this morning.  It would be incredible if it keeps improving and I hit the normal range.  It's close, though part of the deal is it needs to be consistent and the morning numbers are often better than the evening numbers.

Breakfast:  3 strips CF garlic black pepper bacon (0), coffee (0)

I may have overcooked it a shade yesterday, but it was better than I thought it was going to be on re-heat.  All good.

Lunch:  Barbacoa bowl with cheese, salsa, sour cream, guac and jalapenos (10)

Should be accurate within a gram or two either way, I think.  In a rush so I didn't weigh anything.  I don't know what it is about mexican food but I do love it all mixed up in a bowl.  Originally I planned to be stricter and just have barbacoa and maybe an avocado, but decided I'm okay with the works.

Dinner:  CF italian sausage (0) with pasta sauce (7) and mozzarella (1), iceburg salad with parm, pepperocini and homemade vinegar/EVOO dressing (3), 12 oz Miller Lite (3), Bakenets hot n spicy pork rinds (4)

Of all the pork rinds I've tried, those might be my favorite.  Unfortunately not super clean on ingredients (MSG, artificial colors etc) so I shouldn't get them again.  Need to find a spicy variety that's cleaner.

Found a jar of pepperocinis in the pantry, score.  They were exactly what my salad was begging for.  Took it up multiple notches.

Exercise:  Nope.  Unsurprisingly I had a hard time going to sleep last night, ended up with a few hours in the recliner.  Was fretting about this morning's work, which went better than expected.

Day totals:  $0.00 spent, 28 g carb, success

Three Of Four Not Great

Sunday, Jaunary 21, 2024
Day Twenty

Okay, I am no longer zen.  I'm irked.  Up again today, that's three times in four days.  And this wasn't a min-gain.  It wasn't huge, but frankly any gain at all is grating when there have been no eating stumbles of any consequence.  So, I'm going to shake things up a little.  I'm going to have some carbs today, to see if that resets the system, then be a little stricter than usual tomorrow.   I didn't even have a low BP number to celebrate.  It was decent, about the same as last night, but higher than the last couple mornings.  I still think carb restriction is the long-term answer and it's dumb to focus on short term stuff, but when you have as much baggage as I do gains are really effing annoying.

Part of it of course is the ongoing failure to exercise, and that also needs to be corrected.  It did not happen this morning - while I got up about 5:30, I was still tired and quickly dozed off.  Did not get up until after 9:30, which is crazy.  The whole day is thrown off.  Which is problem, I have lots to do.

Also had a couple foot/ankle cramps.  Not major ones, but still irritating.  I didn't have any good salt yesterday, so maybe I flushed out too much potassium and didn't replace it?

Breakfast:   3 CF eggs (2), scrambled with leftover CF chorizo (0) and mexicheese (2) and sour cream (1).  Avocado (2), coffee (0)

I guess you can call it breakfast.  First meal of the day and it's after 11:00.

Lunch:  Homemade chex mix (33e)

Here we go, some concentrated carbs.  Someone gifted me a bag of mix on Friday.  Went with the carb count for commercial mix, figure this is about a cup, maybe less.  So it's estimated but should be in the ballpark.

Dinner:  Tequila lime chicken, black beans, spanish rice, guacamole, cheddar cheese, sour cream, salsa, a couple Tostitos (100e), 24 oz Miller Lite (6)

Birthday party, Sunday night.  I was able to pass on the cake and ice cream.  Now we wait and see what the extra carbs do.  I had a few more than intended, but we'll just have to see what the impact will be.  At least everything was very tasty.  Almost forgot the photo.

Exercise:  Nope.  See above.  And tomorrow is going to be a problem too, since I didn't get enough time at the office today.

Day totals:  $0.00 spent, 146 g carb (est), not at all a success but intentional, let's see if it produces a reset.

Flattened Out Holding On

Saturday, January 20, 2024
Day Nineteen

TGIS.  Pretty relaxed so far.  Slept in a little later than planned, but the extra rest felt good.  Having a cup of coffee before getting going full bore.

Another mixed morning.  Woke up before 5:00, but dozed off in the recliner about a half hour later.  Slept pretty hard, surprisingly, including a wild, vivid dream.  I forced myself awake when that reached a point of potential disaster.  It was almost 8:00 by that point.  Decided not to force myself out the door, today is a day the public is invited to the Y and it'll be a zoo.  Lame excuse, but factual.  I have lots to do around the house, I'll be sufficiently active.

Not much love on the scale.  Reversed yesterday's blip, but that's all.  I seem to be plateaued at the moment, which is understandable if a bit disappointing.  Will have to make some changes to shake things loose.  Plus, you know, exercise you dumbass.  I did get another very pleasing BP reading, so there's that.  I think that's sticking (in a good way) in a new lower range.  Now to lower it further with more weight loss and better conditioning.

Breakfast:   Meijer plain greek yogurt (7),   Meijer wild blueberries (3),  coffee (0)

Pretty standard stuff.  I will probably eat more yogurt going forward, assuming that (a) I can find it, it is usually out of stock and often I'm too cheap to buy Fage, and (b) I can be disciplined on the other stray carbs.  I think I can and it won't be too hard.  Just have to limit the extraneous stuff.  Toppings etc.

Lunch:  3 CF eggs (2) with CF chorizo (0), mexicheese (2) and sour cream (1).  Avocado (2).

Extremely tasty.  Devoured.  Will run it back tomorrow.  Almost out of CF eggs, had to buy a dozen conventionals at the store to get through the upcoming week.  It'll probably be a while before I get back out to the farm.

Snack:  Meijer pork cracklins (0).  Cleanup.  Also had a bottle of Topo Chico, love beverages in glass.

Dinner:   Leftover CF ovenbaconatorcheeseburger (2) with mustard (0) and jalapenos (2).  12 oz Miller Lite (3), iceberg salad with EVOO/vinegar and parmesan (2), SF lemon Jello (0)

Again pretty good.  Took another run at salad dressing, it's fine but still missing something to make it elite.

Exercise:  Nope.  As above.  Active day, but nothing dedicated.  I did buy some new wireless sport earbuds, going to give them a try.

Day totals:  $9.99 spent,  26 g carbs, success

I bought a tub of frozen italian beef on sale at Menards.  I'm not crazy about the ingredient list, but I'm going to give it a try anyway.

Didn't Need To Go For Four

Friday, January 19, 2024
Day Eighteen

For the second day in a row and fourth time this month, a mini blip up on the scale.  Still calm about it - I did feel a little bloated this morning and if I had needed to make weight I could have.  I'm bemused that it happens as often as it does, especially given the massive amount of weight lost overall in a very short time.  If it continues, I'll adjust.

Once again a new low on the BP number this morning.  Really, really pleased by that.  Not that much above the cutoff for hypertension.  At least the old cutoff.  Not quite to the new one.  Still, being non-hypertensive, period, is within sight and would be a welcome relief.

Breakfast:  CF sausage links (0), V-8 (4), coffee (0)

I think that's the end of the V-8, which is fine.  It's not worth the carb cost, I'd rather have room to throw some veggies into dinner if I want.  Sausage remains elite.

Lunch:   Soup (10), pickle (1)

Standard and delightful as always.

Midafternoon I had a BK Minute maid light lemonade (3e).

Dinner:  Meijer pork cracklins (0), 12 oz Miller Lite (3), Home CF ovencheesebaconator (2) burger with guac (4) and mustard (0), roasted garlic kraut (1), SF lemon Jello (0)

I really like the CF baconator beef.  And when made as an ovenburger it's super easy and not at all messy.  Just takes a little time.  Which is why I ate a few too many pork cracklins.  All good though.

Exercise:  Nope.  Annoying.  I woke up at 3:30 and was wide awake.  Thought I might just go when the Y opened at 5:30, but then I got sleepy about 5:00 and caved.  I don't think I'll have an excuse tomorrow, so maybe, just maybe, I can get the ball rolling.  Getting the diet straight was first, but it's past time on the exercise.

Day totals:  $52.02 spent,  28 g carbs, success

Hit the grocery store after work.  Fifteen of that was beer and ten olive oil, I didn't buy that much else.  In pretty good shape on the food front, still quite a bit of quality CF meat on hand, lots of cheese.  Soups in the freezer and a few things of barbacoa.  All good.  Ribeyes were on sale but I passed, knowing that I have meals planned out for more than a week already.

Calm About Blips

Thursday, January 18, 2024
Day Seventeen

It's been such a good month scalewise that I am suprised when there is an upward blip.  Today was the third one, I think, in each case by the smallest amount recorded by my scale.  I'm not fazed by it, I know that I really shouldn't weigh in every day but I think it does help with the accountability ... and it's sure nice when it's a good sized drop.  So I'm calm.

And it wasn't all meh news, I got the best BP number I've had in a long time.  It's been trending down nicely but this was really, really good to see.  Still a ways to go there, but I'm hopeful that with weight loss, diet and exercise I'll get back to where it should be.  Exercise, you dumbass.

Breakfast:  CF sausage links (0), V-8 (4), coffee (0)

I blanked on taking a photo, remembered just after I finished chewing.  Doh.  Anyway, same serving size as the patties, more or less, it just takes more links to get there.  And I'm sure there is some fractional carb in there due to seasoning but I'm not going to worry about it.

Lunch:  Soup (10), pickle (1)

Again.  And again good.

Dinner:  Ground beef keto bowl (20e, $15.37), SF raspberry jello (0)

Audible.  Needed to run an out-of-town errand and was hungry for dinner.  It worked out that I was near this place.  One of the best keto bowls I've had.  Would eat a couple times a week if it were local (and if I'm right and it's not super carby).  Also of note:  I could have happily kept eating, but now, almost two hours later, I am still very pleasantly full.  Delayed satiety, but it kicked in HARD.

Exercise:  Nope.  I was a little frustrated, I was in bed by 9:30, but then my mind got going and I could not shut it down.  It was after midnight before I got to sleep.  Made for a sluggish morning and a late start. I need to do better.

Day totals:  $15.37 spent,  35ish  g carbs, semi-success

I'm really not sure about the carb count on the keto bowl.  There are some carbs (and seed oil, undoubtedly) in the cheese sauce.  Some in the guac, tomato and onion.  Nothing worth worrying about in the cheese, beef or lettuce.  I think 20 might be on the high side, but since it's a local place they don't even have guesstimated nutrition info.
