Well At Least It Is Spring

Sunday, March 21, 2021

Whew.  Had a successful and much needed night of sleep.  Moderate snoring, more than I would like.  Asleep by 10:30 or so.  Minimal waking before my alarm went off at 7:00.  Good temperature regulation.  Felt OK when I got up - nothing noticably wrong.  So I've very happy about that.  I was very, very, very tired last night which is why I did essentially nothing other than watch basketball on TV.  It was all I could do to load up and run the dishwasher, I was that tired.  Pleased that the late day carbage last night didn't completely wipe out the good work of getting out there and golfing.

More of the same on tap for today, since it's going to be another nice day.  A trip to the grocery store and golf this afternoon, I expect to be wiped out again.

Breakfast:  2 sausage patties, medium avocado, coffee

90% fat, 100% delicious.  Decided to change it up -- not terribly hungry but needed a little something.

Lunch:  Wendy's Daves Double

Just not enough time to make pizzas as planned.  It was fine.

Dinner:  Hard shell tacos with LTC x4, applesuace, a few Doritos, one bite of chocolate ice cream

Tasty.  All tacos are good.

Exercise:  18 holes with cart. plus the trip to the grocery store this morning.  I have managed to screw up my pedometer, but I believe the step count of 12,550 is accurate.

Kinda Bitter TBQH

Saturday, March 20, 2021

Well that's certainly disappointing.  Wake up, feel decent, get rid of water, feel lean ... and the scale is up a full pound.  C'mon man.  Sigh.  Okay okay I get it.  More walking, less carbs.  Still going to make the pizzas this week but I get it.

Breakfast:  Bacon, coffee.  Followed by 2 eggs scrambled w cheese, sour cream, salsa and hot sauce, croissaint with butter

One way to drown your sorrows is with a plate of bacon.  Just saying it's a way.  That's all.  Mmm hmm.  That's right.  A way.

Decided to eat the last croissaint and won't buy any this week as part of operation wheat less.

Lunch:  Not applicable.  Did have 12 oz Mich Ultra after golf.

Dinner:  Taco salad with al pastor, extra avocado

Really hit the spot.  Obviously audibled away from making pizzas tonight.

Later:  Yellow rice.  Straight up carbage.

Exercise:  18 holes with cart.  Messed up my pedometer so no idea on distance, did some extra walking but not a huge amount.  Quite tired and I didn't feel good.

Overwheated Overcheesy

Friday, March 19, 2021

A little disappointed to see a small bump on the scale.  No snacking, eating as planned, even slept pretty well.  So it goes, there is definitely some randomness involved.  But it's also a sign that I need to dial back the starch and maybe the cheese too.  Still going to make pizza this weekend but then maybe I should take a hiatus for a bit.

I was very pleased to have gone a number of hours without snoring for the first time in a while.  Hoping that continues as the weight drops.

Breakfast:  2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee (w cocoa butter)

Added back some cocoa butter to the routine morning.

Lunch:  Croissaint w butter, ham, hot dill pickle chips, plain yogurt

Standard stuff.  New kind of pickles, endorsed by my niece.  They're pretty decent.

Dinner:  2 eggs sunnyside, hash browns, 2 sausage patties, medium avo, sour cream & salsa.  12 oz All Day IPA, 12 oz Miller Lite

Delicious as always.  Hungry tonight.  Thinking about testing out a rye or vodka or gin & squirt zero sugar

Exercise:  Nope.  Need to do better.  Golf tomorrow.

Ain't It A Shame

Thursday, March 18, 2021

Say it with me:  Pizza is not a diet food.  Ain't it a shame.

Notwithstanding that fact, I've just had it for the third day in a row.  And I have full intentions of making another batch of three this weekend.  It remains to be seen if pizza is tolerable if more exercise (i.e. golf) is involved.

Solid night of sleep last night, in bed at 9:00, asleep by 10:30, up after the alarm without residual sleepiness.  A good morning, though it was a lot of hours.

Breakfast:  2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee

Standard, no photo.

Lunch:  Croissaint w butter, ham, dill pickle, Greek Gods plain yogurt

Standard, forgot to take a photo until just before I ate the yogurt.  Oops.

Dinner:  Leftover pepperoni pizza, 24 oz All Day IPA

Pretty good.

Exercise:  Nope.  Very bad.

With Extra Loudness

Wednesday, March 17, 2021

Trying to get the sleep schedule on track, it's not going great.  Plus:  Managed to get in bed at 9:00.  Minus:  Didn't actually get to sleep until well after 11:00.  Bad, loud snoring night.  Didn't feel awful when I got up but sleepiness overtook me and I ended up dozing in the recliner until late.  Sigh.

Breakfast:  2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee

Standard, no photo.

Lunch:  Croissaint with butter, ham, dill pickle, Greek Gods plain yogurt

Also standard but with photo.

Dinner:  Leftover home pepperoni pizza, 24 oz Bells No Yeah beer

Good stuff.  Making smaller pies working so far.

Exercise:  Nope.

Predictable Consequences

Tuesday, March 16, 2021

Eat like crap and way too much and you get weight gain.  Rocket science this is not.

Better today, somewhat anyway.  I may need to really buckle down if I'm going to see a notable drop before upcoming golf.  I have about five weeks to work with, theoretically I could lose some of the gut.

Got up a little earlier today, but not much.  Going to try and move it up a little every day, hard to be patient when I have infinite work to do.

Breakfast:  2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee

Standard, no photo.

Lunch:  Keto sausage balls, medium avocado

The KSB are sure a nice easy lunch.

Dinner:  Homemade pepperoni pizza, 24 oz All Day IPA

Chicago tavern style.  Made 3 11" pizzas, in hopes that I'll eat less at a sitting.  It's still quite a bit, about the size of a frozen pizza, but not quite as much as the last time.  Photo is after eating several squares while waiting for the 2nd and 3rd pizzas to bake.

It was a pretty cheesy day.

Exercise:  Nope.  Need to change this.  NOW.  It will be a struggle, though, until I'm more caught up at work.

Walked Out

Monday, March 15, 2021

I was pretty tired last night.  Not sleepy, though, which foiled my plans for getting up early today.  It hasn't been the most productive morning.

Yesterday's dinner choices (especially) were not ideal.  I could feel the water being retained and I drank a lot of it.

Breakfast:  2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee

Standard.  No photo.

Lunch:  Leftover american goulash with parmesan

Cleaned up, good to be done.

Dinner:  3 american style, 2 mexican style tacos.  Hudsonville salted caramel brownie ice cream

Sure, they picked this week to give me FAT tacos.  And I really need to not buy ice cream even when it's free.

Exercise:  Nope, rest day and it's frigid out there.

Screwed Up By DST As Usual

Sunday, March 14, 2021

Ugh.  I thought I was ahead of the game.  I went to bed early.  I even was tired and sleepy enough to get to sleep at a very reasonable hour.  I woke up at a reasonable hour.  I got up just after 6:00, new time.  Was fine for a bit, and then wham, fatigue hit and I dozed on and on, next thing I knew it was 10:00.  FFS.  So I'm hours behind schedule with lots to do today.  Dammit.

Happy not to pay a price for last night, I was still a bit uncomfortable when I first got up, I'm taking that as a sign that my stomach is shrinking ever so slightly.

Breakfast:  Breakfast tacos, grapefruit, coffee

Same tacos as yesterday, again exquisite.  But messy.

Lunch:  Culvers mushroom & swiss burger

Audible triggered by golf plans.  I don't really track 0 calorie beverages but again had Dr Pepper Zero Sugar.  I even bought a 12 pack for the office today.

Dinner:  American goulash, salad w/ lemon dressing, garlic bread, applesauce, apple pie w vanilla ice cream

Family standby.  The pie was half of a 4" pie from the store with a small scoop of ice cream -- too much goulash and garlic bread a much bigger problem!

Exercise:  9 holes walking.  Also did the grocery store.  Wish I'd remembered the pedometer (this reminds me, must find it) since I am quite tired.

Making Rounds

Saturday, March 13, 2021

Glad to have another weekend, even though the to do list is so long I couldn't get through it in a month.  Fortunately I feel pretty decent this morning and ready to tackle some stuff.  Was pleased to see the best snore score in a while last night, being less bloated is definitely helping and I'm at least a little optimistic that I'll be able to tweak things further and get good rest more consistently.  Really not too many physical issues at the moment other than extreme fatness - just started treating the never ending callus on my foot to see if I can get that under control, still have a structurally messed up left knee that reminds me periodically that it's not right, but other than that things are pretty good.

Plus it's pizza day.  Yay.  I did the math and divided my two dough ball recipe into three balls, in hopes that I can reduce my consumption per sitting.  Should make 11"ish rounds instead of 14".

Breakfast:  Breakfast tacos, 5 strips Meijer bacon, grapefruit, coffee

Best effort at breakfast tacos yet, they were delicious.  2 eggs scrambled in a pat of butter, a pinch of cheese between the tortillas, sour cream, hot sauce and jalapeno verde salsa.  Will eat again.  Tomorrow, in fact.

Lunch:  Keto sausage balls, medium avocado

Yum.  I've also been working on some Dr Pepper Zero Sugar, which I have to say is quite good.  It's better than the regular Diet Dr Pepper which is the best diet soda in my very limited experience.  I've always resisted drinking diet soda, chemcials and all you know, but there are other things more likely to kill me so I'll be having some I think.

Dinner:  Dominos thin pep ham jala, lettuce salad with lemongraitte dressing, 24 oz Bells No Yeah

Oops.  Forgot to clean some spilled cornmeal out of the oven and it smoked pretty good while I was preheating to make home pizza.  Given the limits on my ability to deal with it other than by letting it cool down and cleaning up tomorrow, I audibled to Dominos.  I'll make pizzas tomorrow hopefully.  Dressing for the salad is lemon juice, dijon, garlic, olive oil, S&P.  Not sure what to call it.

What a dummy.  It didn't smoke when I did the bacon this morning, but at the higher heat boom smoke city.

Exercise:  Was pretty active, so I'm counting it.  Emptied a small storage unit (almost), hit some golf balls, walked around.  I'd prefer something more purposeful, but for a start this is OK.

Friday Session

Friday, March 12, 2021

Time seems to be accelerating.  That's not necessarily a bad thing given the last year, and it's also getting us closer to spring.  Still, it's also a bit worrisome.  Because there is an infinite amount of work to do and it's not getting done.

Breakfast:  2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee

Standard, no photo.  Might have to take a stock photo.

Lunch:  Croissaint w butter, ham, dill pickle, Greek Gods plain yogurt

Standard.

Dinner:  Tacos w cheddar, sour cream, avocado, fire sauce.  24 oz All Day IPA

Also pretty standard.

Exercise:  Nope.  That changes this weekend.

Less Disappointing

Thursday, March 11, 2021

It was a somewhat less disappointing day.  I got some work done, if not nearly enough.  I took care of a little personal business.  It all felt OK.

Breakfast:  2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee

Standard.  No photo today.

Lunch:  Smoked brisket, texas chili, corn cake

Brisket is so good.  I did sample a bit of the spicy BBQ sauce, probably half of one of those cups.  It was tasty.  I could have done without the corn cake, I prefer savory cornbread, this was too sweet.  Oh, and I had a Diet Dr Pepper later.

Dinner:  Home tacos w shredded cheddar, sour cream, avocado and fire sauce, 24 oz Bells No Yeah beer

Tacos are so easy when you precooked the meat.  15 minute dinner.

Exercise:  Nope.  Gotta fix that.  Stayed up way too late last night doing stuff.

Disappointing In Motivation

Wednesday, March 10, 2021

A rather disappointing morning.  No motivation, really all I accomplished was making some lists of things I want to do, projects to accomplish, a few wish list items to buy.  Work would be so much less painful if I just put forth max effort during the workday on a consistent basis.  Yesterday was pretty good, today has been awful.

At least the scale was pretty nice to me this morning especially considering the lots of bread yesterday.

Breakfast:  Spelt rye bread with butter, 2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee

Standard.  Barely remembered to take a photo.  Finished off the loaf of bread.

Lunch:  Croissaint w butter, ham, dill pickle, plain Greek Gods yogurt

Standard.  The store croissaints hold up pretty, well, this one was rather, uh, old.  1 left.

Dinner:  2 eggs over medium, hash browns in butter, 2 sausage patties, medium avocado, 24 oz All Day IPA

Just the GOAT, sausage version.  10/10 will eat again.

Exercise:  Nope.  Need to get cracking, golf trip in six weeks.

Private Sector Efficiency

Tuesday, March 9, 2021

Got notified for a vaccine appointment yesterday.  Of course it didn't come through the health department, but through a grocery store chain pharmacy.  Go Meijer.  We'll see about the actual shot but the appointment process was about as easy and painless as possible.

Way too much bread today.  Some vegetation probably wouldn't hurt either.

Breakfast:  Slice of spelt rye bread w butter, 2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee

On the go, had an early morning appointment.

Lunch:  Keto sausage balls, 3 strips leftover bacon, dill pickle, slice of bread and butter

More fruits of the prepping done this weekend.  All good.

Dinner:  Leftover meatloaf with ketchup, slice of bread and butter, cheese popcorn, 24 oz Miller Lite

Mental block, couldn't just have the meatloaf by itself.  Duh.  Anyway, that's all cleaned up.

Exercise:  Nope.

Smile

Monday, March 8, 2021

It's Monday, grit those teeth and force a smile.

Not as rested today.  Was slow getting to sleep and I dunno, the quality just didn't seem like it was there.  Wasn't super tired this morning or anything but I didn't have the feeling I did yesterday.  Obviously a bit of extra bloat after a weekend of overeating, but not too awful.

Breakfast:  Slice of spelt rye bread w butter, 2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee

Had to test the bread before lunch plan, it's fine.

Lunch:  Meatloaf sandwich w swiss and ketchup, dill pickle

Yeah that was too much food.  Pretty good though.

Dinner:  2 amercian style, 2 mexican style tacos, 24 oz Miller Lite.  Halo Top keto peanut butter chocolate ice cream

Should have thrown an avocado on the tacos.  Pretty good as usual.  Trying the Halo Top, I usually buy Rebel when I buy keto ice cream, but figure I may as well try the different options and it was on sale.

Exercise:  Nope.

Pretty Good Feels

Sunday, March 7, 2021

A pretty good experience this morning.  I woke up at 4:30 for the usual reason, took care of that, and instead of hitting the recliner went back to the bed.  I was awake enough that I could have gotten up.  It didn't really feel like I went back to sleep but obviously I did because three hours passed quickly.   Rose without issue and I feel pretty decent!  This is nice.  Not full of pep, but not sluggish, fatigued or sleepy.  It was kinda funny that I predicted the time on the clock to the exact minute too.

It doesn't hurt that I didn't pay too steep of a price for yesterday's indulgences.  But that's psychological, not physiological.  Still need golf season to get here so I eat less and move more on the weekends.

Breakfast:  Leftover yellow rice and ham w butter, med avocado, 4 strips Meijer bacon, grapefruit, coffee

If I had calculated correctly, I would have had one less egg yesterday and had one to add to this.  As it turns out, it didn't need it, it was delicious as is.  The bacon was cooked perfectly, just ideal tendercrisp.  It was regular, not thick cut, since I need some for meatloaf tonight.   I might have to reevaluate my thick is always better policy.

Lunch:  Leftover sausage and mushroom pizza, Diet Dr. Pepper

Reheated beautifully.  Best ever, possibly.  Will definitely be making this crust again.  Also sampled the odd keto sausage ball.  I don't post many prep photos, but here's one -- taco meat and keto sausage balls cooling down before hitting the freezer.

Oh, and a loaf of spelt rye bread I made this morning.  Next up, the meatloaf.

Dinner:  Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans w cheddar, peaches

Yum.  A nice capper to a day of luxurious eating.  Ate too much of course.  But at least no dessert this week, though the peaches kinda count.

Exercise:  Nope.  Did the grocery run so I moved around, but nothing purposeful and I wasn't all that active otherwise.  Too much cooking.

End Flush

Saturday, March 6, 2021

Ahh, the weekend.  Even though it wasn't a brutal week -- in part because I slacked way too much -- it's still nice to get a day to work on things you want to do.

Got the topper off the bed last night, so back to sleeping on a firmer surface.  Went okay, I feel decent despite getting six hours of what didn't feel like particularly deep sleep.  On the plus side I didn't have to get up at 2 or 3, maybe the massive water flush will slow down some now that a bunch of it is gone.

Reading through the archives some, I definitely think I'm eating more than I did when I was having success.  So reducing portions may need to be part of the plan.  See, e.g., breakfast.

Breakfast:  3 eggs over hard, hash browns, 4 strips bacon, avocado, grapefruit, coffee

Not my finest effort, eggs and potatoes were both overdone.  Still fine though.  I should have looked to see if I had some sour cream handy, that would have spruced them up.  Anyway, way too much food.

Lunch:  Vigo yellow rice with ham, diet Dr Pepper

Cleaned up some diced ham and the last package of yellow rice I had on hand.  Saved a bit for breakfast tomorrow too.  This definitely falls into the category of things that are delicions but which I should not eat.

Dinner:  Sausage and mushroom pizza, 24 oz Miller Lite

Tavern style at home tonight.  Turned out good.  Ate WAY too much.  And I have more for tomorrow!

Exercise:  I walked a few blocks to the health food store and back this afternoon.  Not far, it was about a 20 minute trip, but it was intentional and I'm counting it.  A bit discouraging  that even that short jaunt was something of a strain on the legs (knee in particular) but no major pain.  I think I'm definitely going to need to ease into any walking plan, going a lot shorter than I really want to start.  Once I've lost some weight and maybe improved my diet some more I can stretch it out.

Less Water Less Problems

Friday, March 5, 2021

Another bunch of water has departed the system.  It's truly amazing.  And, again, I'm not even low carbing.

Not as sluggish this morning but still not real energetic.  I can feel that it's coming though which is good because I have a ton of stuff to do.  Some long work hours coming up.

Breakfast:  2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee

I always feel my posts are so incomplete without breakfast pics but seriously, it's two precut slices of cheese served on a paper towel.  And a couple mugs of coffee.  I need to get over it.

Lunch:  Croissaint w butter, 4 strips leftover bacon, ham, dill pickle

Getting back into the ham sandwich routine.  If I didn't eat cheese for breakfast I'd have some for lunch.  Maybe I need to rethink breakfast.  Oh, and remember to take a picture.  Oops.

Dinner:  Home tacos w cheddar, avocado and fire sauce, 24 oz Miller Lite, cheese popcorn

Good ol' standbys.  Debating whether to have another beverage of some sort.

Exercise:  Nope.  This morning wasn't too bad but I was up too late and didn't get enough sleep as it was.

Feats of Mathematical Possibility

Thursday, March 4, 2021

Someday I want to understand how it's possible for a body to let go of four pounds, net, of liquid in a 24 hours period.  Especially when the day on which it happened was not super low carb.

Despite that lack of low carbing I'm feeling a touch of the keto flu today as I get used to not having the sugar and soda and other stuff.  It's not like I'm eating entirely clean or anything, just withdrawing the steady regular supply of a few things.  I went to bed and actually to sleep early last night and still struggled this morning, it didn't help that I had a headache and that really prevented quality snoozing.

Breakfast:  2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee

Lunch:  Croissaint w butter, smoked ham, dill pickle, Progresso tomato basil soup

Pretty solid, I'd say.  The soup could be cleaner but whatever, it was in the pantry.

Dinner:  3 eggs sunny, hash browns in butter, 4 strips Kiolbasa pepper bacon, 24 oz Miller Lite

A fine repast.

Exercise:  Nope.  Very tired this morning.

Ready Non Player One

 Wednesday, March 3, 2021

It's taken way longer than it should have for me to muster up any enthusiasm for getting back on track.  Even the extreme fatness, lousy sleep, general malaise, shakier health etc etc due to the incredibly horrible eating and drinking over the last couple months haven't moved the needle.  I thought I was going to be able to get started last evening, but I was so fried when I left work that I just got pizza.  Which meant I ate way way too much, was uncomfortable and then stayed up way too late.  I really need a new evening routine.

So back to basics we go.  Let's see if I can get it to stick, I need to let go of this weight gain before golf season kicks in.

Breakfast:  2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee

Usual standby.  I brought a package to work so it's there if I need it.

Lunch:  Leftover chuck roast and gravy, crescent rolls, Fage plain yogurt plus PB2 powder and a little cocoa powder

Cleanup.  Experiment with the yogurt, will probably need more tweaking.

Dinner:  2 eggs sunnyside, sausage patties, tater tots with ketchup, 24 oz Miller Lite

Hey, a dinner at home that doesn't involve a pizza or drive thru.  Cleaned up a bag of tater tots, of course I had way too many.  Like 4x too many.

Exercise:  Nope.  It will interesting to see how that goes when I start, obviously I'm in terrible shape and my lungs are also kinda cranky right now.

Closing Out The Month of FAIL

Sunday, February 28, 2021

Yeah, this month has been an unqualified disaster.  Combination of things, brutal weather has kept me inside and inactive.  Awful eating.  Way too much fast food and pizzza.  And soda.  Too much food and too much bad stuff.  March needs to be different.

Breakfast:  Yellow rice with diced ham, coffee

Lunch:  McD 2x double cheeseburgers, Dr. Pepper, frozen pizza

Snack:  Lays cheddar jalapeno chips

Dinner:  Roast, mashed potatoes, carrots, crescent roll, choc chip cookies w ice cream
