Today went better than I would have expected.  Happy about that.  Was dreading it when I went in this morning, instead the phone was relatively quiet and some things got accomplished.  Yay.

Would be nice to be leaving early tomorrow but I can live with one more workday.  Still have stuff that needs to be done after all.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Lunch:  Jimmy Johns #5 Vito, salt and vinegar chips

Work.

Dinner:  Domino's hand tossed pep ham green olive, 12 oz All Day IPA, Nice oatmeal cookies


Meh.  When it comes to Dominos I really should stick with the thin crust.

Clown Clothes

I got a legit laugh this morning.  I packed up some clothes this weekend for my upcoming vacation, including my regular pants.  I figured I'd just wear an old pair I saved.  It's one size up from a pair I wear regularly, two up from the smallest.  And two down from the biggest.  Didn't try them on, just figured they'd be OK.  They are ... clown clothes.  Way too big.  No chance at being held up by anything other than suspenders.  WAY too big.  It's hilarious.

Anyway, didn't pay a huge price for last night other than snoring a bunch.  Small bump.  OK.  Onward.  I hope that the significant exercise planned for this vacation will offset the bad eating that's forthcoming.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup, grilled cheese sandwich



Decided to construct my toast and cheese, was good.  Dunno if I've had a swiss grilled cheese before without ham but it was good.

Dinner:  2 mexican style, 2 american style tacos, 12 oz All Day IPA, popcorn


Tasty as usual.


Add another 12 oz All Day IPA later.

Exercise:  Nope.  15 degrees this morning.  Come on.

Routine Pass

I think I'll pass on making this a routine.  Just like yesterday I woke up early without setting an alarm.  Got up, scrolled for a while, and dozed off in the recliner.  Today I wasn't so rested when I woke up.  Had the same dream, though, which was odd.  I don't remember it now but when I woke up was definitely thinking that it was a repeat.  Anyway.  Enough.  Need to work this afternoon and hit it hard the next three days.

Pleasantly surprised to see a small dip on the scale, never expect that after a pizza night even when it's a homemade pizza.

Breakfast:  Bread w butter, coffee


As usual I needed to test out this weekends bread.  Different recipe this time, it's fine.  Probably not as good as my current regular but I think I'll withhold judgment until I toast some up.  Still going to restock semolina though.  Made two loaves so I had two oddball slices plus a shaving.

Lunch:  Breakfast tacos (3 eggs w a splash of milk, 2 sausage patties, guac, cheddar, zero net carb torts)


Very tasty.  Decided not to open a new sour cream, otherwise same as I've had before.

Dinner:  Goulash, salad with ranch, garlic toast, 12 oz Miller Lite


Sunday dinners.

Also:  Wendy's single, fries, frosty.  Doh.

Exercise:  Nope.  Still winter and apparently it's quite icy out there.

A hearty TGIS to all.  Planned R&R day, though of course I really cannot afford the time.  Especially since I'll be gone Thursday and Friday.  But it's happening.  The burnout level is high right now.

An interesting night of sleep, to me anyway.  I don't think I moved around at all, it's unusual that I can stay in one position for six hours.  But I believe I did, one way to tell was the crick in my neck that resulted.  Anyway, woke up at 5:30, lazed about for an hour in the recliner and then dozed off again.  I don't sleep deeply in the chair but still, when I decided to get up I was rested and ready.  A good feeling.

Add to last night:  Halo Top keto series caramel butter pecan ice cream.  There was a method to the madness and the sugar alcohols were helpful this morning.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Sausage lentil soup, toast


Yup.  Really like the lentils.

Snack:  Jell-O sugar free chocolate pudding made w whole milk, unsweetened coconut


Eat stuff that's on hand, that's what I sometimes say.  Was good.

Dinner:  Home sausage pizza, 24 oz All Day IPA


Extra beery.  Pizza so good and pretty doggone easy when you've already made the dough and the sausage.  If I had any room in the freezer I'd think about batching a bunch but I never do.  Just the usual thin crust.

Exercise:  Nope.  Snowed overnight.  Cold, sloppy, miserable.  We need spring.  Real spring.

Just trying to get through the last day of the week.  This morning wasn't bad, only a few hours to go.  There will only be so much relaxation this weekend but any will be welcome.  Hopefully a day off tomorrow will be enough of a reset and I'll power up to get through the few remaining days before a long weekend vacation.

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup, toast, Fage 5% yogurt


Ate the rest of the cottage cheese yesterday, so today I ate yogurt.

Dinner:  Taco salad with ground beef, 12 oz All Day IPA


Audibled and glad I did, really hit the spot.  Yuge of course.

Exercise:  Nope.  Will get back to trying to fix the schedule after vacation ... when hopefully it's no longer winter.

Equilibriumish

Musing this morning that I think I have kind of reached a state of equilibrium.  I have good days and drop a little, have bad days and bump up some and am just going back and forth in the same narrow range except in the case of the occasional extreme binge.  Which is both good and bad.  It's nice to know that I can maintain where I am without too much deprivation.  I don't really miss a lot of stuff that much, and I'm loose enough with the rules that I don't have an issue with an occasional treat.  I've been cheating too much and too often lately but it's mostly just the rebound side of staying in range.  The bad part is knowing that I'll have to make further changes if I'm going to drop more weight.  Which I need to do.  Still very fat.

Expected upside on the scale this morning, more retained water.  Not stressed.  And pleasantly surprised that I got a good night's sleep last night, restful and with minimal snoring.   Would not have expected that after having pizza.  I was more active than usual after dinner, maybe that helped.  But more likely it was just random and I happened to hit on good positions when asleep.

Another musing is that eventually I should try to commit to getting eight hours of sleep.  Six and a half is far more typical and I don't know if I could actually sleep a consistent eight, but I should at least commit to giving it a fair trial.  Sleep, sun, regular exercise, better eating.  Goals.

Used a few more of the 'zero net carb keto' tortillas.  Whatever.  They're ok and this was a quick and easy dinner.  Usual taco meat, cheddar, guac and sour cream.

Exercise:  Nope.  Cold, very windy, raining.  No thank you.  Didn't even try to get up at 5:00.  I'll be more diligent about the schedule after vacation.  Forecast until then is, for lack of a better word, dismal.

Well that's annoying.  Retained fluids.  Not a huge surprise, could tell it was happening.  But still annoying.  No sign of them working their way out yet either.  Ugh.

On the plus side I did get a decent night's sleep.  Feel notably more rested today, though that hasn't helped as much as I had hoped with the focus.  The donwanna is strong again today.

Wasn't too inspired, consistent with how I've felt the last two days.  Decided to break up my planned run of dinners and take advantage of a super cheap offer from the noid.  Also, I tried Pepsi Zero Sugar this afternoon, was not a fan.

Obviously this will not help with the whole retained water thing.

Exercise:  Nope.  Cold, rainy, miserable morning.  Went with extra dozing and don't really regret it.

Not a lot of pep today.  Didn't get to sleep quite early enough and probably should have snoozed.  Didn't.  Would like to break that habit.  Now if I can just not replace it with a habit of sitting around and scrolling that would be great.

I had a lot of soup left and questioned whether it would be any good tomorrow (didn't freeze any because of the cream), so I had lots of soup.  Burned the roof of my mouth too.  Doh.

Exercise:  Nope.  In hindsight, should have made myself go.  It wasn't bad out there early, it's a lot colder here at lunchtime and the rest of the week looks dismal.

Paid Price Worth It

Paying a bit of a price for the excessive exercise yesterday.  I went to bed on time, scrolled for an hour and started to cramp.  Out of pre-emptive desparation I tried pickle juice, which did seem to address any cramping issues.  But despite that I did not - contrary to my prediction - sleep well.  But, then again, that's not super unusual.  I don't know if I'll ever again sleep the sleep of the dead like I did in my younger days.  But more weight loss and more regular exercise will get me closer I think.

Not too bad today - got up on time, I'm a little gimpy mostly due to tight achilles tendons, but it isn't anything that's a big deal.  And the exercise paid off on the scale, I actually had a negative weekend for the first time in a while.  Yay.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup, toast, 2 slices swiss cheese

Ham soup, ryeish toast and cheese means lots of dairy.  LOTS of dairy.  Subtly different but still in the same general range as my usual lunch.

Dinner:  2 mexican tacos, 2 american tacos, 12 oz All Day IPA

Standard Monday fare.  Tacos were FAT this week.

Exercise:  Nope.  Well deserved day off.  Was pleased that my achilles etc loosened up in the afternoon and I didn't spent the entire day gimping around.  Going to move some boxes and work on detailing the car tonight so I won't be a total slug.

A Regrettable Lack of Focus

Work division.  Should be there right now, instead I'm typing this, at home, while drinking my second cup of coffee.  Dawdling.  Lunch, possible golf and dinner are going to take up large chunks of the rest of the day.  I just ... donwanna.  Even though I do need to go.

A very modest gain this morning, less than I expected actually.  Knew I'd be up - chain pizza makes me thirsty and I noted before I went to bed that I was retaining.  No worries.

Breakfast:  Coffee, 1 slice rye bread w/ generous butter


Ran out of semolina so I threw some rye in my loaf yesterday, turned out fine.  I seem to always have an odd slice when I cut it up, this morning I was happy to have one.  Still went 15 hours without eating since I had an early dinner yesterday.

Lunch:  Ham soup, homemade reuben (corned beef, swiss, kraut, '1000 island' dressing)


Made the soup last night, it's fine.  Not the best batch I've made, but I did just wing it.   Sandwich was delightful, the dressing was Heinz NSA ketchup and avocado oil mayo.  

Snack:  Hamburger soup, 12 oz All Day IPA


Had a runt half jar of the soup (also made last night), glad I did as I knew it would take a while to make the pizza and I was hungry when I got home from golf.

Dinner:  Home pizza with italian sausage


Yum.  Very tasty.

Exercise:  18 holes walking, 13500 steps.  3 hours 45 minutes, no sitting.  Was 100% fine for 15 holes, a little poky the last three.  I'll sleep well tonight.

Lunch break.  Got to the office before 7:30 and put in 5+ solid hours before coming home.  Productive is good.  I have the carrot - if I can get this project done this afternoon I can take the evening off, relax and enjoy a little basketball.  I'll have to go back tomorrow morning for a few more hours, but if the weather cooperates I may sneak out for a few holes in the afternoon.  We'll see.

And let's see if I can keep the weekend gainz to no more than 2 or 3 pounds, it would be nice to be less fat, especially in the midsection.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.  Needed a third cup .. the last one being decaf.

Lunch:  3 eggs scrambled with cheddar cheese, 2 sausage patties, sour cream and guac, 4 La Bandeteria street taco low net carb 'keto' tortillas


Didn't have anything thawed and decided not to have straight corned beef, I was going to make rye bread but have shelved that idea for now, the timing just doesn't work.  Tortillas were an impulse buy a couple weeks ago for a cooking project that never came off.  I'm skeptical of the zero net carb claim but they're only 20 calories each anyway.

Sucked in by a deal.  Not many regrets.

Exercise:  Nope.  Did get up, it was raining and I hate cold rain more than any other weather condition.  Weak.

Whew, Friday.  Glad, even though the weekend offers no respite right now.  Other than from the phone.  And a little more flexibility.  I do have a hard deadine on a project, but I've known that it's coming and have made some progress on it anyway.  And a million other things to do, alas.

I did manage to crash relatively early and woke up at 4:30, so that was good.  Managed to nudge my clock in the correct direction for once.  Feels good man.  App said almost no snoring, which ... I dunno.  I did avoid all diary except butter on the popcorn but I was still pretty full when I went to bed.  Did have something different with the corned beef dinner but don't think that should be too impactful.  Can't think of any other notable factors that would have produced a much better result than I've had recently.  /shrug.

Am definitely happy that my body seemed to tolerate the corned beef fine, since I have leftovers for tonight and probably a Rueben for lunch tomorrow.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Lunch:  Soup, toast and Fage 2% plain yogurt


Out of cottage cheese so I ate the yogurt I had on hand.  The store was out of the 5% kind when I bought it, can't say I noticed all that much of a difference.

Dinner:  Leftover corned beef with carrots and onion, sauerkraut, 12 oz All Day IPA, popcorn w butter


Carbon copy.  Once again tasty.  Didn't bother to take a photo of the popcorn, just see yesterday.

Exercise:  Walk, 1.8 miles, 37 minutes.  Nice morning for it, 40ish degrees and the rain + cold held off until later today.  Felt notably good the first third and walked much faster than usual.  A few minor aches and pains the second third.  Kinda hit the wall and the last third was pretty slow, at least until the last couple blocks.  Overall shaved a couple minutes from my usual time and I'm happy about that.

Corned Effect

Let's see how the body reacts to corned beef.  Lots of it.  I suspect it may be too salty to be entirely welcomed, but who knows.  I just hope it turns out!  In the crock as I type this, added carrots and onion at lunch, should be plenty done by the time dinner rolls around.  I didn't throw any potatoes in there, all I have on hand are russets and I didn't feel like peeling anyway.

Again.  Same exact thing.  Not tired of it.

Turned out pretty good.  The corned beef isn't cadillac quality but still manages to be tasty.

Exercise:  Nope.  Dammit.  Woke up at 5:00 so I could and fought for it for a while but I knew it was unlikely -- I got about 4 1/2 hours of sleep to that point.  I just don't wind down fast enough from late nights at the office.  Next couple days are looking iffy and this morning was ideal so I'm definitely bummed.

I'm sure I'll never fully understand the human body.  Yesterday, I felt reasonably good about my food choices.  Usual lunch, meatloaf and a beer for dinner, carb count in check.  Then I ate what I thought were way too many of the lentil chips.  Figured I had taken in enough starch in those 500ish calories to prevent any water from leaving the premises.  Instead, I processed a ton overnight.  Got rid of it this morning.  And the scale shows it.  Big drop.  Just water.  After a day where I probably had 100g of carbs.  It's weird man.

But I'm not complaining.  And hey, it looks like Amazon got my delivery right so I'll have some new jeans to try on tonight.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Lunch:  Soup, toast, cottage cheese


Same as yesterday.  Soup still more stew-y than soupy, still good.

Dinner:  Lentil soup, bacon, 12 oz All Day IPA


Was given an open package of bacon, so I cooked up the rest.  Good stuff.  Last of the first batch of lentils, also good stuff.

Exercise:  Nope.  Woke up at 5, reset alarm for 6 and it seemed like it went off instantly.  Apparently I really, really needed more sleep.  Didn't get to bed early enough.  Need to put down the phone.

My prediction skills are improving, at least when it comes to my weight, especially when a binge (or coming off one) is involved.  Nailed it this morning, again.  OK, fine, I was two tenths of a pound off, but you know, rounding.  Dumbass.  I did eat a bunch (too many really) of pork rinds last night ... but my guess was higher than reality.

Anyway, the week is steamrolling along.  Some work getting done but not nearly enough.  It's going to be a brutal 3 1/2 days, followed by some time on the weekend.

Ordered a pair of jeans in the minimum size (2 down from my current, way-too-big pair), they came yesterday ... and they were the wrong size.  Wrong waist, wrong inseam.  Doh.  Try again Amazon.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup, toast, cottage cheese


Standard.  Soup wasn't as soupy, in fact it was very much more like a stew.  Finally figured out that I forgot to add any vegetable juice.  Already knew that I didn't add any extra broth or water.  Whatever.  Still tastes good.

Dinner:  Leftover meatloaf w/ Heinz NSA ketchup, Enjoy Life lentil chips dill and sour cream flavor, 12 oz All Day IPA


Enjoyed the pile of meatloaf.  Ate way too many of the chips, which I bought on impulse and while good, they're neither clean nor, you know, necessary.  So I probably won't buy again.

Exercise:  Nope.  Kinda sorta got up at 5:00 but snoozed in the chair.  Despite going to sleep relatively early was still very tired.  Try again tomorrow.  I need to not stay too late at work tonight.

A much more normal Monday.  Which isn't to say that it's fun, because it is not.  But it's normal and that's not always a bad thing.

Accurately predicted the gainz this morning.  In a day or two or three the retained solids and liquids will sort themselves out and I'll just have to deal with a couple pounds of excess energy consumed.  It's just like most weeks of late.  And it would be nice if I could shed this stuff plus a couple more before my trip.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Lunch:  Sausage lentil soup, toast w butter, cottage cheese

Had an oddball container of the soup so I kept that in the fridge for today.  Plan down the road is to eat more of the lentil soup for dinner instead of lunch, but we'll see.  Plans may change.

Tasty as always.  Still vaguely hungry, might have some pork rinds or something.

Last day of this.  I'm going to be nicely stocked up on good stuff for the coming week and while it will be extremely busy, the stress level should be ratched down a notch or two.  Lunch should be a thing again.

Predicted this morning's bloatup pretty accurately.  NEED the good week I have planned.  Crap food makes one feel like, well, crap.  At least I think I'll be burned out on some things - enough with the donuts, and I was rather disappointed with last night's frozen pizza.  Now if that can also be true of the chips and onion dip we'll be cooking with gas.

Breakfast:  Apple Fritters, coffee


Yup.  Meijer version this time, they were OK.

Lunch:   2 eggs scrambled, biscuits and gravy


Also taste-tested my hamburger vegetable soup for the week by eating the couple spoonfuls that didn't fit into my jars.

Snack:  Chips and onion dip

Also bought and opened a bottle of zero sugar A&W root beer yesterday, it's pretty decent.  I may continue to try various other kinds (when on sale like this week) just to built a list of what's drinkable.  DPZS likely to remain the king, though, the only diet soda that I actually like.

Dinner:   Meatloaf, box potatoes, green beans, peaches, roll w butter, 12 oz Miller Lite


Also, Wendy's single and frosty.

Exercise:  Nope.  Snowing, cold, windy, miserable.  And that daylight savings BS.  Warm front expected this afternoon, so starting tomorrow conditions will finally be improving.  Need to get out there since a golf mini vacation is coming in two and a half weeks.

Not a fan of when it takes an extra day for the excess to catch up to you.  I mean, it wasn't enough to be anything more than a slight annoyance, but annoying it is to see the scale go up.  Going to blame it on the pizza, since yesterday was not a terrible eating day carbwise and I was quite active.  I even got extra sleep last night.  Oh well.

Today being Sunday and having a birthday party this evening I'll be earning my FAIL badge dammit.

It's going to be a ridiculously stressful week.  I am really not looking forward to it and the stress has definitely impacted my weekend.

Breakfast:  6 strips Meijer bacon


Yeah, breakfast.  Hungry enough that I wanted something with my coffee.  So I ate the leftover bacon.

Lunch:   Barbacoa, cilantro lime rice, Bush's southwest sidekicks beans, Torpillaz ranch chips, salsa


Friday's planned dinner plus a few of the chipz.  Barb remained excessively chipotle'd.  I think I have two left in the freezer.  Last of the rice.  Half a can of beans, cleaned up the salsa.  Hearty.  Satisfying.  And quite tasty, if a bit overly smoky.

Snack:  Chips and onion dip.  Sigh.

Dinner:  Lasagna, salad no dressing, garlic bread, chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, glass of whole milk

I make a darned good lasagna.  Ate way too much, of course.  Darned parties.

Exercise:  Nope.  Back to the lousy smarch weather, with colder temps and wind gusts up to 60 this morning.  Stayed home, stayed in bed.

A Different Price For Excess

Well that's not really how I expected to (hopefully) get the sleep schedule back on track.  Ate too much, too late, too wrong and paid for it.  Woke up at 3:30, gave up and got up before 4:30.  As much as I love pizza it doesn't always love me back - the acid from the tomato, the dairy accentuating winter sinus issues, the feeling of being stuffed because I don't stop after a slice.

Will be trying to make the best of it.  Got in a walk since it hasn't snowed for a few days and it's been enough above freezing and sunny to get the sidewaks clear.  We're even supposed to have a one day warmup today well into the 50s.  Too bad it's only the one day and the long range forecase is back to cold (plus snow on Monday).  I'm ready for spring.

Also, two things that kinda go without saying:  TGIS, and thank goodness I didn't take a hit on the scale.  (lol)

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup. 

Lunch:  Breakfast

A lot of breakfast.  Okay, fine.  Some details.  3 eggs over easy cooked in butter, 6 strips Meijer bacon, a couple air fryer biscuits out of the freezer and freshly-made sausage gravy.  Excessive but so so good.  Hopefully this holds me until dinner.

Dinner:  Keto bowl with ground beef, 12 oz All Day IPA

Since I had the frozen pizza last night I elected not to have the usual home pizza tonight.  Instead, I indulged a craving for a real keto bowl instead of my incomplete faux version.

Exercise:   Walk, new usual loop, 1.8 miles, 42 minutes.  Slow but steady.  A little tight and a little strained but never painful or anything.  It was good to get some movement in.  I wouldn't say it was fun but it was definitely fine.
