Inflated Count

Tuesday, July 10, 2012
Day 190

Ate too much today.  I was too late to get an omelet for lunch and I didn't make one at home which is what I should have done.  And then I ate the buffet tonight.  Bleh.  Oh, well, it was only a couple hundred calories over, not like it was a 5k calorie day.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 2 big slices Kraft sharp cheddar

Lunch:  Homemade pizza (same recipe as usual) with pepperoni

Snack:  2 oz CF cajun beef jerky

Dinner:  2 plates of salad with steak, iceberg lettuce, onion, tomato, cheese, bacon bits, salsa and sour cream; 4 x 12 oz Miller Lite

Why Shop

Monday, July 9, 2012
Day 189

Not sure why I even buy groceries.  Then again, the amount I spend on food at Meijer shrinks constantly - between buying meat from the farm and some produce from farm stands and markets, there are fewer and fewer things I need to get from the big store.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar, 1 banana

Lunch:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese, avacado; sausage; coffee

Dinner:  Taco salad with steak, salsa, a bit of hot sauce

Snack:  Some frozen fresh raspberries.  Yum.  Too bad they're gone.

Exercise:  11 holes with cart, about 75 minutes.

Fewer and Fewer Words

Sunday, July 8, 2012
Day 188

My writeups aren't getting any longer.  I've been diverting some of my time to playing with myfitnesspal, even though I do LOL at the carb targets, it's interesting to have a reasonable estimate of what I eat.  A lot of days are checking in below 2000 calories.  Now if only I believed that I could burn thousands by playing a round of golf with cart...

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar cheese, a large banana

Lunch:  2 oz CF beef jerky, a few frozen raspberries

Golf time:  1 large brat with bun, mustard, onion; 12 oz Miller Lite

Dinner:  ~ 6 oz NY strip steak grilled, a small salad with ranch and a few bacon bits, about 9 ruffle style potato chips

Exercise:  Worked in the yard for a few hours this morning, then 18 holes with cart this afternoon.  I'm tired. Very very tired.

Some Relief

Saturday, July 7, 2012
Day 187

I should probably double check the day count sometime.  It's not as if it's necessary, but it is an amusement.

Not as hot today and there is a nice breeze.  It's supposed to be a good week and I'm looking forward to some cooler, less humid nights.  Sleep last night was difficult -- and three sessions of leg/foot cramps just added to the yuck.  I probably need some electrolytes after all the sweating I did yesterday.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar

After golf:  2 x 12 oz Miller Lite

Lunch:  4 oz CF summer sausage

Dinner:  Taco salad with steak, salsa

Dessert:  Fage greek yogurt (plain), some raspberries

Exercise:  18 holes with cart

Friday, July 6, 2012

Hottest

Friday, July 6. 2012
Day 186

Holy cow was it hot today.  I'm not a fan of this at all.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar

Lunch:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese, avacado; sausage.  Too hot for coffee!

Dinner:  1/2 deluxe pizza, salad with italian, ~ 24 oz Miller Lite

Exercise:  Worked in the yard all morning.  9 holes with cart this evening.  Plenty.

Time to pass out.

Hot

Thursday, July 5, 2012
Day 185

Yup.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar

Lunch:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese, avacado; sausage; coffee

Dinner:  Same home made cracker crust pizza; salad with olive oil

Exercise:  9 holes with cart.   Hot.

Happy 4th of July

Wednesday, July 4, 2012
Day 184

America's birthday and a day off from work.  It was brutally hot today - we've missed the worst of the recent heat wave but today was wicked.  You could cut the air with a knife it was so thick.  Thankfully there was a little breeze from time to time and shade out on the golf course.

Breakfast:  ~ 4 oz CF ham, 1 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar

Lunch:  Ham, bacon and swiss on croissant with chipotle mayo, french fries, 2x12 oz Miller Lite

Dinner:  Home made cracker crust pizza with pepperoni and mozz/provolone cheese, 12 oz Founders Red's Rye PA beer

Celebrated a bit by having lunch out and making a pizza for dinner.  I'm liking the homemade pizza, it checks in at about 1200 calories, which is quite a bit obviously but totally within my allowance as a fat guy.  I probably didn't need to do that since I had the big lunch, but I did.  My pizza crust recipe (at least tonight's version) only uses 1/2 cup of flour, so that keeps the carb count under 60g.

Exercise:  18 holes with cart.  HOT HOT HOT.  5 hours out there.

I just realized typing this that I didn't eat any vegetables today.  Oops.  I thought about having a salad with dinner, but I'm quite full as it is.  I'll do better on that front tomorrow.  I did look at the scale this morning and was pretty happy with what it said.

One For Home

Tuesday, July 3, 2012
Day 183

Pretty standard day.  Went in to work a bit earlier so I was hungry at lunch.  The small win of the day was heading home shortly before 10:00 tonight, running through fast food options in my head, not coming up with anything real appealing and (finally) remembering that I had leftover burgers at home.

Breakfast:  ~ 3 oz CF ham, 2 big slices Kraft sharp cheddar

Lunch:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese, avacado; sausage; coffee

Snack:  2 oz CF cajun beef jerky

Golf:  3 x 12 oz Miller Lite

Dinner:  8 oz CF ground beef, cooked White Castle style on dehydrated onions, 1/2 big slice sharp cheddar, jalapeno mustard

Exercise:  9 holes with cart.  Humid as all get out so not all that much extra walking.

Could Do Without The Humidity Thanks

Monday, July 2, 2012
Day 182

Yeah, it's humid.  I don't like humid.  The heat doesn't bother me but I don't like the wet.  Pretty sure that I'm not alone.

In other news, half a year down, a lifetime to go.  Progress has been made and I'm much more conscious of what I need to do to get the weight off and keep it off.  Being human, it hasn't always been smooth and I'm sure I'll lapse back into bad habits.  But if I can just keep plugging along I will hit my goal someday.

Breakfast:  ~ 3 oz ham, 2 big slices Kraft sharp cheddar cheese

Lunch:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese, avacado; sausage; coffee

Dinner:  1/2 lb CF grass fed ground beef, oven cooked on a bed of dehydrated onions White Castle style, 1/2 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar;  ~ 1.5 T Meijer mayo; Meijer jalapenos from a jar.

Yum.

Planning on having a Founders Red's Rye P.A. beer (12 oz) when I get home, but I may pass if it's too late.

Exercise:  90 minutes of golf with cart.  I got in ~ 14 holes before dark.

After a grouchy start (job-related) it proved to be a pretty good day.

Sunday, July 1, 2012

Boom?

Sunday, July 1, 2012
Day 181

Weekends are too short.  I'm hoping the joker two blocks away shooting off fireworks will quit soon so I can go to sleep.

Breakfast:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese, avacado; sausage; coffee

Lunch:  2 oz CF cajun beef jerky

After golf:  12 oz Miller Lite

Dinner:  1.5 hamburgers with buns, a little Miracle Whip and green olives; 6 Lay's chips, most of a large tomato.

These were huge burgers, up to 1/2 pound pre cooked weight.  They grilled up nicely.  I made mine into olive burgers - of course I would have much rather had mayo, but whatever, I didn't use that much Miracle Whip.

June Results and July Goals!

Here were the June goals:

Goals for June:
1.  Get back on track.  A cheat (read:  Pizza) day or two a month is not a big deal.  Two weeks in a row is.  Stop it.
2.  Lose 15 pounds.  By focusing again this should be attainable.  I was thinking about cutting this to 10 pounds but I bet I have some lovely water weight to flush again and it will go if I'm just better about things.
3.  15 days of meaningful exercise.  Should not be too hard, since I almost get there with golf alone.
4.  Make progress on the work front.  I'm trying to change from a high volume model to a lower volume but higher collection model, if I can pull it off (and get enough business) it will greatly improve my quality of life.  Very early in the process but I'm enthused.
5.  Insert food expenses into posts.  Going to try this again from June 1.

Results:

1.  FAIL.  It took until almost the end of the month to get my head back on straight, and even now it's tenuous.  I will probably eat more flour than I should.   If I can just avoid the pizza binges it'll be OK.

2.  FAIL (I guess).  I ended up losing 10 pounds.  Considering all the screwups, this is fairly miraculous.

3.  PASS.  Golf season + good weather means I blew this one away.  I'd be better off walking more but hey, I don't like sweating that much.

4.  FAIL.  Slow going.

5.  FAIL.  I keep forgetting to do this.

Moving on to July, let's renew some goals:

1.  Lose 15 pounds.  If I believe the data in myfitnesspal.com (which I've started using lately, it's kinda fun), I'm still fat enough that I burn a ton of calories when I do any kind of meaningful exercise, including golf.  That plus the fact that I don't eat more than 2400 calories when I'm not eating entire takeout pizzas means that I should still lose fast for a while.  I could trim a beer or two off the weekly sheet as well.

2.  Keep exercising at least 15 days.  Shouldn't be a problem while golf season lasts, although it will get harder when the days get shorter.

3.  New goal, make progress on the house and yard.  I'd like to list my house at some point to see if I can find a buyer, got a long ways to go before that can happen.

4.  Be happier.  In some way.  How's that for ambiguous?
