Last of the corned beef.

Unusual Triggers Maybe

Monday, March 18, 2024

Ugh, was not ready for it to be Monday again.  I was very tired when I woke up, the sleep was mediocre.  I really need to eat less and stop earlier in the evening.

On the plus side, I was pleasantly sated this morning, no idea why.  Lingering effect?  Dunno.  And I'm hoping that it continues this afternoon.

Breakfast:  3 CF sausage patties, coffee

Again.  Later:  Donuts.  Doh.

Lunch:  Corned beef and swiss on LTF zero net carb tortillas

Again.  Out of tortillas now.

Dinner:  2x mexican 2x american tacos, 12 oz All Day IPA

Again.  Also had a few (~ 2T?) semi sweet chocolate chips.  End of the bag.

Exercise:  Nope.  Again.  FAIL.

Day totals:  $3.10 (donuts) plus about $8.00 (tacos)

Failing Repeatedly In Stages

Sunday, March 17, 2024

Not a lot of inspo this morning.  I managed to fix breakfast.  And that's it for accomplishments at 9:30.  Unless you count starting this post.

Which is most unfortunate.  I'm taking a mini vacation later this week, which means that I need to cram five days of work into three, plus all the stuff I have stacked up that needs attention.  At least the schedule isn't too jammed, so I should have some time to do things if I can keep the energy up.

Breakfast:  3 CF eggs scrambled w a bit of butter, hash browns in olive oil, CF sausage patties, avocado.  Coffee

A fat breakfast bowl.  Tasty.

Lunch:  Corned beef and swiss in LTF zero carb tortillas

Cooked up the little low sodium corned beef flat I bought on sale last week.  Tasty.

Late PM snack:  Wendy's single, frosty

Dinner:  Leftover thousand hills cocktail franks, mashed potatoes, 12 oz All Day IPA

And then I made a small batch of chocolate chip cookies.  Sigh.  So fat.

Exercise:  Nope.  So much fail.

Day totals:  $4.23 spent (Wendys)

Fiberful

Saturday, March 16, 2024

Okay then.   Back at it.  Things should be a little better today.  I think.  If I can avoid the good donut place.  (ETA Narrator:  He did not avoid the good donut place.)

Interesting phenomenon -- this morning was the second time I've made something with the La Tortilla Factory zero net carb tortillas and for the second time I'm done eating and I'm notably sated.  Immediately. Sure, I didn't skimp on filling, but there are plenty of times when I eat more and I'm not sated at all.  Or it kicks in much later.  I wonder if the fiber in those things is helping trip the signal?  I'm not entirely keen on eating them - like most processed things they're a bit of a frankenfood - but if they further prove to be helpful in satiety I will keep eating them.   I have four left in the package, so I'll get a couple more meals to see what happens.

Breakfast:  3 CF eggs scrambled w a bit of butter, a large avocado, mexicheese, 2 LTF zero net carb tortillas.  Coffee.

The tortillas are kind of an odd size, too small to roll a fat burrito, too big for a standard taco.  But that's okay, we'll roll with it.

Lunch:  Soup, donuts

What I *should* have had for lunch yesterday.  Minus the donuts of course.

Dinner:  Thousand Hills smoked cocktail sausages, mashed potatoes, 12 oz All Day IPA

Added some sour cream to the potatoes to clean that up.

Exercise:  Nope.  Slept in this morning.  Really need to get re-dialed.

Day totals:  $6.00 (donuts) + $ 85.00 spent (grocery store)

Neither

Tuesday, March 12, 2024

No gain or loss, which feels like a win.  Bad eating continues.

At least it was a very productive morning.

Breakfast:  CF bacon, coffee

Yep.

Lunch:  Slice of meat pizza, 2x McDoubles, Coke Zero

Had a lunch meeting.  Should have grabbed a second slice.  Ordered my McDoubles sans ketchup, got ketchup.  Oh well.

Dinner:  Leftover meatloaf and swiss wraps, Nice cheddar popcorn and oatmeal mini cookies

I was pleasantly surprised by dinner, I used La Tortilla Factory zero net carb tortillas and they were fine.  I was pleasantly sated.  Had the junk later, after a trip to Walgreens.

Exercise:  Nope

Day totals:  $4.23 for lunch plus $3.28 for the junk food

Up But Not Down

Monday, March 11, 2024

Not a good day on the scale.  Expected, since I ate way too much and horribly yesterday.  So it goes.  I do have some stuff to eat through, but it should be a better week.

Hopes of crashing early were left unfulfilled and I did not get enough sleep.  Today is going okay so far, but it was a slow start and I'm doubtful that I'll get anywhere near as much done as needed.

Breakfast:  Sliced cheese, coffee

Simple.  Almost forgot the photo.

Lunch:  2 eggs sunny, avocado, veggie cream cheese, 3 strips CF applewood bacon, leftover sourdough buttermilk pancakes w butter and maple syrup

Excessive.

Dinner:  3x mexican 2x american tacos, 12 oz All Day IPA, avo oil chips, SF vanilla pudding

Again with the tacos.  And just insatiable appetite this evening.  Awful.

Exercise:  Nope.  I did more walking than usual this morning, but not counting it.

Day totals:  About $8.00 spent.

Certainly Not Optimized

Sunday, March 10, 2024

Ugh, the dreaded spring forward.  I woke up at 5:00, which was 4:00, so I have sprung appropriately.  Haven't changed all the clocks yet but that is definitely on this morning's to do list.

Predictable gain this morning - I ate too much yesterday.  I did not optimize the scale this morning, did not dispose of things, did not shave, did not get enough sleep.  So be it.

I did not get enough done yesterday, not a surprise, but it will make for another super busy day.

Breakfast:  Buttermilk sourdough pancakes w butter and maple syrup, CF applewood bacon, coffee

Not quite as thick and fluffy as last week, but I swapped buttermilk for milk and did them on the griddle instead of in a skillet, so maybe that explains it.  Super, super tasty though.

Lunch:  Wendy's Daves double, lime Maiz chips w salsa

Audible, decided to have more protein.

Snacks:  1.6oz The Good Crisp Co potato crisps, home double chocolate cookie

Bought the snack size chips yesterday after seeing them in several places.  They're like Pringles, but they use palm oil instead of canola.  Very tasty, but probably will not be a regular thing.  I did notice that they were made in Malaysia.  Really?

Dinner:  Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, peas, NSA peaches, 12 oz Miller Lite, double chocolate cookies

Sunday dinners.  Ate too much.

Exercise:  Nope.   Need to.

Day totals:  $2.12 spent (Wendys)

Wheaty Belly

Saturday, March 9, 2024

Yeah, I have a little bit of a wheat belly going this morning.  Definite bulge.  But that appears to be most of the price I'm paying for last night's pizza excess.  I can deal with it.  The smallest of blips up on the scale after some healthy waste clearance.  OK.

Another weird night.  I went to bed a little after 10, woke up at 2:00 with, what else, a cramp.  It wasn't too horrible, but it took long enough to subside that I did not go right back to sleep.  Went back to bed about 4:15 and while it didn't really feel like I was asleep I must have been.  Kind of a waking dream.  Woke up a little before 7:30 and I was pleasantly surprised by how awake and alert I felt.  Which is not to say energetic, necessarily, but sharp.  Not dozy, clear headed.  Hard to describe.  But it was notable.

Super, super busy weekend on tap so I had better get to it.

Breakfast:  2 CF eggs sunny in a bit of butter, CF sausage patties, coffee

Very tasty, even if the eggs could have used 30 seconds less cooking.

Lunch:  Keto bowl with ground beef

Tasty as usual.

Dinner:  Chili plus barbacoa with mexicheese, lime Maiz chips and salsa, 12 oz All Day IPA

Okay.

Exercise:  Nope.  Starting to feel like a consistent morning start time is an unattainable goal.  Changes are needed and of course we spring forward tonight so tomorrow is going to suck.

Day totals:  $81.00 at the grocery store + $51.00 at the mega health food store + $15.37 keto bowl = about $147.37 spent.  A very expensive day!  But I am very well stocked and laid in a few supplies for my upcoming trip.

Even More Puzzling

Friday, March 8, 2024

It is truly baffling.  Two nights in a row where I've overeaten.  Had the usual and then added a bunch of mixed nuts and way too much of a Simple Mills treat.  And after both days the scale went down.  No exercise, nothing else notable or different.  Straight up weird.

This is not a complaint.

And it's Friday.  Hooray.  Now I'd just like a good night of sleep, lots of sleep, with no cramps.

Breakfast:  CF sausage, coffee

Again.

Lunch:  Soup, sliced cheddar

Again.  Had extra cheese.

Dinner:  Deluxe pizza, 24 oz Miller Lite

Audibled, fail.  Ate too much.

Exercise:  Nope.

Day Totals:  $20.50 spent.  Did not make it to the grocery store due to rain.

Scratching Head

Thursday, March 7, 2024

As usual, I don't get it.  Kinda melted down last night.  Ate WAY too many mixed nuts, then topped it off with some Simple Mills sweet thins graham cracker-like things.  A whole bunch of unneeded calories.  And yet, go figure, the scale was down this morning.  Bodies are weird.

Anyway, since this is mostly a sleep blog anyway, more cramping last night.  Annoying.  No idea why, it certainly was not exercise-induced.  No extra alcohol or anything that I would predict to be a trigger.  Just messed up.

Breakfast:  CF sausage, coffee

Again.

Lunch:  Soup, sliced cheddar, banana, Simple Mills almond flour brownie bar

Again.  A runt soup.  Had extra cheese and the bar to make up for it.

Dinner:  Barbacoa, mashed potato, avocado, salsa, 12 oz Miller Lite, mixed nuts, more simple mills bars

Again.  New batch of barb from yesterday.

Exercise:  Nope.  Sleep issues are really messing things up.

Day totals: $0.00 spent.

Round Mound Down

Wednesday, March 6, 2024

Hump day.  Going okay, I guess.

Slept okay.  Woke up around 2:30 but only momentarily, back to sleep then until 5:45.  Snoozed and will say that I just don't feel as rested as I would hope.  Oh well, it's not debilitating or anything.

Breakfast:  CF sausage, coffee

Again.

Lunch:  Soup, sliced cheddar, banana

Again, this time with banana.

Dinner:  Taco meat, mashed potatoes, avocado, salsa, 12 oz Miller Lite, mixed nuts

Out of barbacoa.  Making another batch but not finished in time for dinner.  Also:  Ate way too many nuts.  WAY too many.

Add:  Simple Mills honey cinnamon sweet thins.  They're like graham crackers kinda.

Exercise:  Nope.  Valid reason today, though.

When It Is Going Okay I Guess

Tuesday, March 5, 2024

It took too long to wind down last night.  I worked until 10:00 and had the uber rare evening caffeine, neither of which helped.  Slept okay but I definitely can tell that I got no more than six hours.  Probably didn't help with the scale either, though I blame the wheat and corn for the jump.

Otherwise, just another day.  Which is going okay.

Breakfast:  CF bacon, coffee

Again.  Last of the bacon.

Lunch:  Soup, sliced cheddar, Mary's gone crackers

Again.  Plus crackers, which were meh.  Will not buy again.  Ate way too many.

Dinner:  Barbacoa, mashed potatoes, guacamole, 12 oz Miller Lite, plain greek yogurt

Again.

Exercise:  Nope.  Fail.

Day totals:  $0.00 spent, fail on carbs stupid crackers, fail on exercise

So Soon

Monday, March 4, 2024

Monday again.  So soon?

I did not get nearly enough done this weekend.  Some of it is fine -- I put off some of my planned cooking projects due to lack of freezer space (which I need to sort out this week) -- and some of it, mostly work-related, is very much not fine.  I need to get more accomplished during the week.

Am pleased that I tolerated yesterday's exercise just fine.  That was the first real test since the knee injury in early February and I did not have any concerning discomfort.  Sure, some aches and pains, but doable.  Now I need to step it up.

Slept through the night, which was great.  Didn't wake up until 5:45, so I probably got seven hours or close to it.  Inconsequential bump on the scale and away we go.

Breakfast:  Sliced cheddar, coffee

Changed it up since I knew I would be having breakfast for lunch.

Lunch:  3 CF eggs sunny, 3 strips CF hickory bacon, guac, leftover sourdough pancakes w butter and maple syrup

Very tasty.  Too many carbs in the cakes, but very tasty.

Dinner:  2x mexican 2x american taco

Dependably good.  Took them back to the office, so no beer tonight.

Exercise:  Nope.

Day totals:  About $ 7.00 spent,  over on carbs, no exercise.  Fail.

Happy And Disappointed

Sunday, March 3, 2024

Happy Sunday.  It has been a leisurely start to the day, which is both enjoyable and highly concerning.  I have far, far, far more stuff to do than I can possibly get done today.  Yesterday was a considerable letdown.  I had a task I hoped to accomplish.  I completed about 4% of it.  Extremely disappointing.  I can make up for it, though probably not today.  Other than that stress I am in a very good mood.

An OK night, I think.  Woke up once, about 2:30, with a moderate cramp that dissipated quickly.  I was more awake than I would like, so I was up for an hour or so before I went back to bed.  Slept fine after that and woke up about 7:30.  I looked at supplements at the health food store yesterday but didn't buy anything, decided I needed to do some more research.  Probably losing weight and watching hydration will take care of a lot of it anyway.

No change on the scale, which is fine.  I ate quite a bit yesterday and was not as active as planned.

Breakfast:  Sourdough pancakes with butter and maple syrup, 3 strips CF hickory bacon, coffee

Excellent.  New recipe and the cakes were delightful.  Not overtly sour, which wasn't a surprise.  A great way to use up the modest amount of discard I had this weekend.

Lunch:  3 CF eggs scrambled, hash browns in olive oil, peppers and onions.  Lime Maiz tortilla chips with salsa

In two parts.

Dinner:   Home beef stroganoff with egg noodles, green beans, applesauce, garlic toast, 12 oz Miller Lite

Pretty good, but quite excessive.  Sunday dinners.

Exercise:  9 holes with cart.  A beautiful near 70 degree day.

Day totals:  $0.00 spent, well over on carbs, OK on exercise.

Here Comes Some Sun We Hope

Saturday, March 2, 2024

Time to get after it.  Going to be a nice weekend weatherwise.

Couldn't put together back to back great nights, but only woke up with a truly painful cramp once.  I need to add proper hydration to the list of things to pay attention to, I drank some extra water on Thursday night and last night I did not.

Nice drop on the scale.  Didn't do anything to earn it, heck I had avo oil chips and too many of them last night.  But I will absolutely take it!  If I can tolerate potatoes (at least when sans seed oil) that will be great going forward -- it would be an interesting question as to what would be hardest to give up, wheat, corn or potatoes, but I definitely love the taters.

Breakfast:  2 CF eggs sunny, 4 strips CF hickory bacon, true goodness plain greek yogurt, coffee

Nailed it.  So good.

Lunch:  Keto bowl with ground beef

I guess I've been going in a lot lately, I was recognized.  LOL.  It was tasty.

Dinner:  Home chili w mexicheese, sour cream and jalapenos, Maiz lime chips w Matteos medium cantina salsa, 24 oz Miller Lite

Chili was solid.  Made it a couple weeks ago now I think, from the freezer.  Bummer that the Maiz chips are no longer on sale at the health food store, they were a relative bargain in February!

Exercise:  I'm going to count it, did some walking though surely not enough.

Day totals:  $15.37 for the Keto bowl plus about $65.00 at Walmart, though that included a bunch of non-food items.  Over on carbs.  OK on exercise.

All The Way Through

Friday, March 1, 2024

How about that, no more February.  Hooray.  It wasn't a terrible month, but I didn't make a large amount of progress.  I will say that I am pleased to have ended the month down a couple pounds overall, considering that the first two plus weeks were significant gains.  Now, about that exercise...

Also very pleased to have slept straight through last night for the first time in a while.  I'm not sure it was more than six or six and a half hours, but not waking up due to a cramp or other issue is wonderful.  As always I could have used more, but it was quite a treat.

Breakfast:  Sausage, coffee

Again.

Lunch:  Soup, sliced cheddar

Also, again.

Dinner:  Barbacoa, mashed potatoes, guacamole, 12 oz All Day IPA, avo oil chips, 12 oz Miller Lite

And again.  It was truly clutch to have these things on hand, prepped and thawing in the fridge -- I was hungry by the time I finished shopping and it was only the knowledge that this could be in my mouth in five minutes after I got home was the only thing that kept me from some bad, bad -- err, even worse -- food choices.

Exercise:  Nope.  Again.

Day totals: About $60.00 at the grocery store, OK on carbs, fail on exercise.
