Succumbed Again

Monday, November 12, 2012

As usual, I ate too much yesterday.  And then I stayed up too late.  There are just not enough hours in the weekend.  At least today is a semi-holiday, not that I get the day off or anything.

Breakfast:  1 oz genoa salami, 2 slices Kraft Big Slice sharp cheddar cheese, coffee

No picture, I forgot.  I even had the phone out to do it (not that it's exciting) but I reflexively ate before remembering.  Oops.  Also, when I went to the store this weekend it looked like they stopped carrying the kind of salami I've been buying.  I'm generally in favor of buying stuff that's made in the USA, but given what I'm learning about agricultural practices I think I'd rather take my chances with an Italian brand than with some domestic brand with faux-italian packaging (which appears to be the replacement).

Lunch:  2 eggs fried in a bit of butter, 3 strips Tyson bacon, 1 small organic avocado, 1/2 medium grapefruit, coffee.

These:  A few of my favorite things
It's still way too early for quality grapefruit, but they were a bit more appealing than the orange-size summer fruits I've seen lately so I went for one.  Otherwise, standard stuff.  I cooked the eggs at a lower temperature and I thought they turned out better so I'm going to give that another shot.  Better is always better.

Dinner:  Hamburger gravy (CF grass-fed ground beef, frozen diced onion, brown rice flour, spices, 2% milk), 1 large and 1/2 small organic russet potatoes boiled and mashed with a bit of butter and a couple tablespoons of 2% milk.  Oh, and I ate 3 pepperocinis out of the jar while I was cooking.

Not visually appealing but delicious none the less
They were out of whole milk at the health food store the other day so I settled for 2%.  This is a bit too carby, making a gravy out of the meat is probably unnecessary.  It sure is good however.  Leftovers remain for tomorrow night, maybe I'll have more ambition and fix a salad too.

Exercise:  Since I was so late getting up, I had very little time.  I did squeeze in 15 minutes which got me exactly 3/4 of a mile (I'm amazingly good at maintaining a consistent 3 mph pace.  I'm slow.)
