Welp.
Made it through Thanksgiving. Had a big feast early afternoon and then never considered eating anything the rest of the day. Wiped out, I went to bed at 9:30.
Sleep poorly yet again. Up at 5 for a bit, then snoozed fitfully in a chair for serveral hours. Felt lousy. Lots of unhappy body parts. Eventually perked up some after a shower, but it was a slow go.
I don't really do Black Friday but I did go out this evening and bought myself a new Chromebook. I'm hoping that will be helpful in getting this blog to a more consistent place. Now I just need to sell a few things on eBay to recover the cost!
Breakfast: Hostess giant donettes, milk
Lunch: Jack's frozen bacon cheeseburger pizza, Coke, chips and salsa
Dinner: Five Guys little cheeseburger all the way, little fries with ketchup
Exercise: Not a chance. Really, really struggling physically. Need to fix the diet first and foremost.

With Apologies to Tom Petty
Sunday, November 17, 2019
It's the starting that's the hardest part.
Sigh. Let's get through today and try again.
Breakfast: Leftover waffles with maple syrup, many strips of pepper bacon
Forgot the rest, never came back to finish.

A Nadir
Saturday, November 16, 2019
It's been brutal. For every day that's decent there are ten that are horrible. No consistency.
It's a fact, though, that I have felt more mortal the last couple months than I ever have. Even when my weight has peaked previously I didn't experience major physical issues. Now, I do. The wrecked knee is one thing, but it's really scary to feel your heart and lungs heavily loaded from even the smallest activity. To be unable to sleep because you can't find a position that your body can take. It's awful.
As a long-time food addict, though, change is hard. I'm planning on staying home today, working on some things around the house, and hopefully feeling like I can get things back on track. Too many carbs are lined up, but a lot of the wheat ones at least are buttermilk soaked.
Breakfast: Overnight soaked buttermilk waffles with maple syrup, thick cut pepper bacon, a few rosemary and olive oil Triscuits, coffee
Severely overcooked the bacon. Surprising, since my oven has been seeming weak lately. It was a different kind of bacon, otherwise same method as usual. Oh well, it was still edible. Waffles were fantastic, I don't understand people that dislike buttermilk flavor. Triscuits have been cleaned up.
Lunch: Tacos with shredded cheddar and TB fire sauce
Good. Carby, but good. Better if I didn't eat so many shells. Leftovers tomorrow.
Dinner: Failed homemade cheese pizza with buttermilk crust, CFA spicy chicken, fries, mac and cheese, coke, Culvers concrete mixer
All sorts of fail. The crust on the pizza didn't work, since it didn't develop the gluten needed for the way I prepared it. It would have been fine otherwise. Then I was hungry later and boom went the dynamite.
Exercise: Nope.

So All Needed Was One More Hour?
Sunday, November 3, 2019
As annoying as daylight savings time is, I sure do love that extra hour we get in the fall. I even managed to fake myself out this morning -- I changed my alarm from 6:30 to 5:30 on my phone, woke up shortly before what the clock said was 5:30 ... and only after I got up did I realize that I hadn't set the clocks back and it was only 4:30. Oops. Dozed in a chair for a few minutes but couldn't get back to sleep. And so ... I managed to motivate enough to go for a short walk. All I needed was one more hour?
Otherwise in a fantastic mood this morning. Not too fazed by the scale going the wrong way -- I mean, it's obvious why given my horrendous overeating of late -- since for once I'm optimistic about making some positive changes. I do wonder if there are some things I can eat if prepared correctly (without sugar and seed oils, soaked/fermented etc) but we will see. Once I eat through some junk that is.
Breakfast: Homemade soaked buttermilk waffles with maple syrup, 5 strips applewood bacon, coffee
Changed up the waffle recipe and went with one that soaked the flour in buttermilk overnight Weston A Price style. Kinda winged it beyond that tbqh. Didn't notice any difference in taste, but I like the tang anyway. Also went straight maple syrup since I think I pretty much finished my bottle of Tree Hive syrup with honey yesterday.
Also, oddly enough the recipe made nearly six waffles, up from 4 and 5. Same cup of flour.
Lunch: Oh yes, lots of it.
Dinner: Tons.
Exercise: Short walk, phone said 0.6 mile, was just about 20 minutes.
Went just fine. Geared up appropriately for 37 degrees F, though I do need to find my beanie (or get a new one). I don't have an ideal route for my walk any more, but if I can deal with a few blocks I can catch the route I used to take and do some of that.

Satured Day
Saturday, November 2, 2019
Have I mentioned how much I love weekends? They're great. Now if only they were 3 days long. I guess I'll settle for the extra hour of sleep tonight. As an added bonus I woke up early this morning, so if I don't stay up too late tonight maybe I can use the time shift to fix my schedule. Maybe. History of doing so has been pretty poor.
Breakfast: 3x homemade buttermilk waffles with Tree Hive syrup, 5 srips thick cut cherrywood bacon, coffee
Made the same waffle recipe as last week, this time it made 5 waffles instead of 4 for some unknown reason. Whatever. Two more to the freezer.
Lunch: Tacos - leftover taco meat, shells, avocado, sharp cheddar, Fire sauce. Chips and salsa, a little lemonade
This was very tasty. So much so that I bought another package of shells despite the fact that I shouldn't be eating them because of corn and seed oil.
Dinner: Homemade cheese sticks (pizza crust, olive oil, seasoning, mozz cheese). Taco Bell chicken chalupa supreme, beefy fritos burrito. Mini donuts, rice krispie treat
Okay, that was a lot of junk. Made the cheese sticks out of some dough I had in the fridge, trying a different version of the 72 hour dough recipe.
Exercise: Nope.

Also: 2x Senor Rico rice pudding

Okay Then Reboot Soon Son
Thursday, October 31, 2019
Alright then. Fail, then try again. One of these go arounds it's going to stick.
It wasn't today, and given the junk I have on hand probably not through the weekend. Still. Let's make some positive moves soon.
Breakfast: Taco Bell sausage quesadilla, sausage taco. Coffee
Was hungry. And then I was not.
Lunch: Jimmy Johns east coast italian sub, salt and vinegar chips, large Coke
Snack: Snickers bar. Vendor delivery, not something I bought.
Dinner: Homemade-ish tacos with cheese, chips and salsa, lemonade
Would have been better with limeade tbqh.
Exercise: Nope. Fat and injured.

When Your Fail Is Epic-ish
Wednesday, October 30, 2019
Yeah, this was bad. For many reasons.
Breakfast: Coffee
Been getting hungry in the mornings, may need to eat if I'm not going to 100% fix the diet.
Lunch: McRib, medium fries, large Coke, 3 leftover meatballs
Dinner: 2 McCheeseburgers, medium fries, large Coke
Also: Pretzel pieces, Hostess mini apple pies
Exercise: Nope

In Which I Complain About The Fail
Tuesday, October 29, 2019
Sigh. It's so annoying being me.
I didn't leave work until almost 7:00. So do I feel like cooking? Heck no. I had planned to have breakfast for dinner, but even that simple meal seemed like too much work.
Pathetic.
Breakfast: Coffee
Lunch: Leftover meatballs with thousand island. Same as yesterday.
Snack: 2 McD cheeseburgers, large Coke
Another habit to break.
Dinner: Little Caesars thin crust pepperoni pizza, extra cup of sauce
Exercise: Nope.

Milk and Cookies and Stuff
Monday, October 28, 2019
Okay, let's do this. Today wasn't stellar or perfect or anything. But I can take away a positive or two -- I had lunch at home and ate some stuff I had on hand.
Breakfast: Coffee
I did get a little hungry mid-morning, but nothing extreme. I remembered too late that I had some jerky at the office that I could have consumed.
Lunch: Cold leftover homemade meatballs with thousandish island dressing, glass of whole milk
Honestly I pretty much never drink milk. I bought a half gallon for some cooking projects and then never cooked anything much with it and it expires pronto, so why not.
Snack: 2 McD cheeseburgers, large Coke
Need to give the soda back up. With the early lunch and a late dinner I decided to snack. This is the sort of thing that needs to stop.
Dinner: 4 tacos, mexican style plus hot sauce and avocado. Chips and onion dip
Planned purchase, love Taco Monday. Cleaned up some chips and dip leftover from the weekend. Leaves me very short on junk ... which is both a good thing and I'm sure it'll be a problem.
Also: "World's Easiest Cookies" and milk.
Wanted something more. Googled easiest cookies and this is what I got -- almond flour, baking powder, vanilla and maple syrup. They were ... interesting.
Exercise: Nope. Limping pretty bad right now.

A Tack Of Some Sort
Sunday, October 27, 2019
It hasn't been a real good stretch. Insane dietary choices, eating way too much and not enough movement. I've felt pretty weak lately and I'm worried about my heart.
That said, I just don't know if I can do anything too extreme. I *do* know that I can make better food choices, and one of those choices is to eat more at home. So I'm going to try and do that. It won't be easy -- work is still work and life is still what it is -- but I'm going to give it some effort. Especially now, since the weather is going to limit what I can do outdoors.
Breakfast: 2 homemade waffles with Tree Hive maple syrup and honey, 5 strips Hormel cherrywood thick cut bacon, coffee
I planned to make some egg cups but wasn't organized enough this morning so I made waffles. They were quite good. Stuck 2 in the freezer for another day. Enjoyed the bacon, too.
Lunch: 4 homemade meatballs with thousand island, glass of whole milk. Later, chips and onion dip.
Meatballs, from my favorite low carb recipe. They're good cold. Dressing just a spoonful of Sir Kensington's avocado oil mayo and a little Primal Kitchen ketchup, both of which I bought during a major grocery restock on Friday night. Made the meatballs today, have 3 more servings (8 oz ea) left for the next couple days. I should see if these freeze.
Dinner: American goulash, garlic bread. Also 2 McD Cheeseburgers, large Coke
Sunday dinner, man. Okay, let's do this. Though I already am going to make an exception for Taco Monday.
Exercise: Nope. No golf today, though it wasn't a bad afternoon.

Tuesday, October 1, 2019
Welp. Bad result after having tacos, I was hungry today. Made it through the morning but lost it after that. Currently very overstuffed on pizza.
Sigh. Try again tomorrow. Motivation is hard.
Breakfast: None
Lunch: 2 CFA spicy chicken sandwiches, coffee (later)
Surprisingly unsatisfied. Quite hungry again well before dinner.
Dinner: Jet's super special deep dish pizza
Exercise: Nope.

Almost Baconpalooza
Monday, September 30, 2019
Whew. Long day. I don't like Mondays.
Breakfast: Coffee
Was a little hungry - thanks pizza - but not that hungry. No problem skipping.
Lunch: ~ 1/2 lb CF black pepper garlic beef bacon on CHAFFLES
Different chaffles today, mozzarella cheese, an egg, 1T of almond flour, 1/4t of baking powder. I'd say they were more waffle-like. Worked great as a sandwich bun.
Dinner: 4 ground beef tacos mexican style plus avocado and hot sauce
Decided not to have breakfast - no baconpalooza - since I needed extra work time. Tacos are quick, easy and on Mondays cheap. Probably should have ditched some tortillas but so it goes.
I ate one before I remembered to take a photo.

Sunday, September 29, 2019
Another rainy Sunday, same as last week. On one hand it's too bad it means no golf, on the other, it's great for productivity around the house. This has been the most productive Sunday morning I've had in months! If I can keep it rolling this afternoon my home may be in tip top shape for once.
Today's obsession is with italian beef. My OCD has me wanting to find a good recipe and a deli slicer. Reality is going to dictate that I just go to the local place that makes a fabulous one and get a couple and eat 'em without the buns.
Breakfast: Coffee
Considered eating something this morning, but ended up not bothering. Not notably hungry just a small edge. Thinking about a fat Qdoba bowl for lunch and a light dinner.
Lunch: Qdoba brisket bowl - light white rice, brisket, roja, verde, cheese, sour cream, guac
Decent and pretty satisfying. Did LOL at the one small scoop of guac. At least it wasn't extra.
Dinner: Dominos thin curst, pep ham onion
Cracked. Sigh. I had a plan, it just didn't happen. Due in part to being in the middle of a bunch of cleaning including the kitchen, but that's just an excuse. Next time I'll have a better plan.
Exercise: Nope. Active day including a couple shopping trips, but nothing that counts.

Happy weekend. Looking forward to some recharging. Feels like I slept decently last night, so it's been a pretty good day so far.
Breakfast: None
Not hungry, check. I thought about stopping for coffee but decided I did not need it.
Lunch: 2x Jersey Mike's number 56 subs made in a tub
Had a BOGO coupon. I did not know that they'd throw these on a bed of lettuce. Did not eat much of the lettuce. Quite tasty.
Dinner: 3 eggs over medium, bacon, Alexia hash browns in butter, avocado
Perhaps a bit much. Pretty good, though the avocado was not elite.
Exercise: 18 holes with cart, dccent extra walking. Felt good today.

Friday, September 27, 2019
Ah, the end of a week. Glad that is the case. More sleep issues last night, this time I didn't get to sleep until very late. Just was not sleepy. Went to bed early. Even broke out the blue blockers. Sigh. As a result I pretty much ran out of gas this afternoon.
Breakfast: Coffee
Yep, not hungry.
Lunch: McDonalds 2 Mcdoubles plain no bun, sausage patty from a sausage McMuffin
Another meal on the go. Didn't have a lot of time so I went with this.
Dinner: Leftover ground beef, cream cheese, Alexia hash browns in butter, extra sharp cheddar
This was an interesting mix. It wasn't bad. Putting the cream cheese in with beef ended up making it taste kind of like Hamburger Helper. At least what I remember of it, haven't had HH in decades. Or maybe a stroganoff flavor.
It was also a lot of food.
Exercise: Nope.

Natural Necessary Frustration
Thursday, September 26, 2019
Sleep, man. How can something so necessary and so natural be so freaking frustrating.
Went to bed on time. Didn't go to sleep right away, my fault due to electronics use which I really should ban from the bedroom. Still went to sleep at a reasonable hour. Woke up with alarm, instantly knew I hadn't slept well or enough, reset alarm for an hour later. That hour went by in a blink. Still very tired, despite eight hours of "sleep". I didn't wake up multiple times as I sometimes do.
I'm sure I would sleep better if I didn't have sinus blockage when I lay down. Not much that I can do about that other than nasal spray and obviously I can't use that very often. I'm fine when vertical and even propped up, but I shift when sleeping and getting to sleep in a good position isn't always easy.
Anyway, pay no mind, just ranting pointlessly. I blame fatigue.
Breakfast: Coffee
Getting used to this again. I'll eat if I'm hungry but today I am not.
Lunch: Spicy stewed chuck, some extra sharp cheddar
This must have been from a different batch than what I had on Monday -- hey, dumbass, label your freezer stuff -- because it was delicious. Really good.
Dinner: CF ground beef on cheddar CHAFFLES, a T or so of mayo and some green olives
CHAFFLES. I bought a waffle maker a couple weeks ago to try making these and I finally did it. Getting home earlier made all the difference. And? They were pretty good. Definitely worked great as a bun substitute for a burger. Decided to make an olive burger. Used the smash burger method for the patties and they turned out pretty solid. Not too excited about cleaning the cast iron tho.
Exercise: Nope. As mentioned, super sluggish. If it doesn't turn around, may have to do (gulp) evenings.

Quick Bounce
Wednesday, September 25, 2019
Feeling much better today. Definitely improved last evening after a big dinner (which, yes, definitely had some carbs) and I slept decently. Woke up before my alarm this morning and probably could have even made myself get going but decided to use the time to try and beat back any remaining fatigue. So far so good.
Also good is watching some of that water weight disappear. Thanks bod, appreciate you letting go.
Breakfast: Coffee
Had a cup of regular coffee, no adverse reaction noted. It may be that if I keep it to one cup I can still drink regular. We'll see.
Lunch: 2x McD McDoubles minus buns, 1x sausage mcmuffin minus mcmuffin (and most of the cheese)
Tired of buying so many meals but such is life on the go. This was surprisingly decent, ordered the McDoubles plain. Easy to eat and reasonably satisfying.
Dinner: 3 eggs over medium, a bunch of bacon, some Alexia hash browns in butter
Regular cut Target brand applewood bacon instead of the stuff I prefer. It was fine, really.
Exercise: Nope.

A little low grade low carb flu today. Slept horribly last night, not rested at all. Headache, no pep, that sort of thing. A fine consequence of eating all that sugar. On the plus side I have disposed of massive amounts of waste.
Breakfast: Decaf coffee
Wondering if I should have eaten something. Oh well, too late now.
Lunch: Wendy's baconator, no bun. Spindrift grapefruit
Helped, somewhat.
Dinner: Qdoba brisket bowl.
Spent $12+ and ... was happy about it?!? Double meat, small scoop rice, cheese, sour cream, pico, hot salsa, guac. Gave me a ton of brisket, almost too much.
Exercise: Nope. Super tired and sluggish today. I managed a Target run after dinner.

An Oasis
Monday, September 23, 2019
A brief highlight in an ocean of suck. Seriously. The last several weeks have been horrible for eating. Zero restraint. Impossible gluttony. I could probably recreate at least 80% of it just by reviewing the receipts, but I'm not going to. Just know it's been really, really, really bad.
So.
Planned to have a good day today and it actually happened. Pleased about that. It took longer to get going this morning than I hoped, so no exercise, but at least I didn't oversleep and I did make it to the office by 7:00 to deal with something I didn't go in to address on the weekend. Big win there.
Breakfast: None
Not needed. If I had been hungry I could have eaten but not today. Didn't have time for coffee, either, though my consumption has been way down lately.
Lunch: Spicy chuck
Pulled this from the freezer yesterday. It was fine.
Dinner: 2 Culvers double deluxe burgers, minus onion, minus buns. Will probably have a grapefruit Spindrift later.
Planned to cook but when I don't get home until almost 7:00 that's not appealing. I do want to keep trying to cut down on meals out though. At least I had a coupon.
Exercise: Nope.

Two Weeks of Implosion
Tuesday, August 20, 2019
Just a brief update. The past two weeks have been dreadful, diet-wise. Just an uninterrupted binge featuring the horrifying return of sugar.
I really don't know when I've felt worse. I'm starting to get get concerned about the risk of a heart attack given how weak I am. I had to climb a bunch of stairs one day last week and it was not good.
Really hoping to get back on track tomorrow.

Covering Up
Monday, August 5, 2019
As usual, a little walking covers for a weekend of eating carbage. I know that a daily walk and some minor eating adjustments would result in some nice weight loss. Just need to make it happen. Really going to try to get to bed early tonight.
Breakfast: CFA chicken biscuit, minis, hash browns
Late breakfast, decided to try different stuff. Good but not life-changing or anything.
Lunch: Spicy chuck
I threw a CF chuck roast in the slow cooker yesterday with a can of chipotles in adobo, a can of diced jalapenos, a couple small chopped onions and some beef broth. Forgot to add cumin and chili powder but this still had nice zip to it. And I have more in the freezer.
Dinner: 4 ground beef tacos, mexican styple plus cheese and hot sauce
Standard Taco Monday
Also: 6 strips Oscar Meyer thick cut bacon
Exercise: Nope

Had Sugar, It Went Poorly
Sunday, August 4, 2019
Whew. Getting an early start on this catchup post. Breakfast consumed, coffee in cup, laundry under way. Thank goodness for Sunday mornings.
Yesterday was a massive local festival, so I decided to have a "treat". One which had lots of sugar. It tasted pretty good, as sweet things are wont to do, but man did I feel lousy after eating it. Let that be a lesson, dumbass. A lesson for me, that is.
I need to get back in the groove of daily updates, because remembering isn't always easy. I do remember that this week was brutally bad.
Breakfast: 1/2 lb of Oscar Meyer thick cut bacon, coffee
Last package of non-Wright bacon that I had in the fridge. There was a great sale last week, so I'm stocked up on the good stuff for the forseeable future. Actually this was quite good, though I do like the applewood kind better.
Lunch: 2 Mcdoubles
Dinner: Cheeseburger MPTomato, Lays chips, salad no dressing, 12 oz Miller Lite
I did manage to avoid the apple pie a la mode.
Also: TB cheesy been and rice burrio, beefy fritos burrito
Exercise: 18 holes w cart, moderate extra walking. Too hot for massive extra walking.

Trip to the doc tomorrow. We'll see if my BP is elevated. Rest of stuff looked good to me.
Breakfast: Coffee
Lunch: Culvers bacon deluxe, spicy chicken sandwich, chili cheese fritos
Early and long lunch. Rough morning at work.
Dinner: 4 tacos mexican style plus cheese
It's a good thing I don't have any junk food on hand because it would be destroyed. Cleaned up the fritos at lunch and too lazy to go out again.
Exercise: Nope.

Sunday, July 28, 2019
I just haven't been inspired to do anything at all lately. It's frustrating. I'm way behind at work. I'm slacking on taking care of things around the house. Haven't been to the grocery store or meal planned. All aspects.

Cooked up the rest of the package I opened last weekend. I may have to start doing two trays, cooking the whole package and just sticking the cooked bacon in the fridge.

Tacointensive
Monday, July 22, 2019
For once I almost carried out a plan. Successfully moved taco Monday to lunch. Cooked a thawed steak for dinner. Now, if I could have just done that faster so that I wasn't so inclined to stuff my face with chips and onion dip. Had to make a stop to get some and I did. Dammit.
Breakfast: Coffee
Lunch: 3 ground beef tacos, mexican style, plus cheese and hot sauce.
I might need an abbreviation for this standard fare. Got 3 instead of 4, so a win there.
Dinner: Chips and onion dip, marinated flank steak tacos with cheese
Very tasty. The steak was defnitely not overdone, but it was tender and juicy. Marinated in some lime juice, olive oil, salt pepper garlic powder. Tossed on the grill. And I have leftovers for tomorrow. I could have chopped up an onion, added some cilantro and hot sauce, but it was already late. Next time.
Exercise: Nope. If I'd gone to bed earlier this morning would have been great.

Seventy Percent Better Than Less Than
Monday, July 15, 2019
It was nice to see some improvement yesterday. Ankle is sore this morning but gait is still close to normal. I think I'm not going to push it and will call off golf for tomorrow, maybe by Saturday.
Thinking this morning that for me there must be extremely high correlation between insufficient sleep and the urge to eat in the morning. Where I have gotten a decent amount of at least semi-quality sleep I'm fine eating little or no breakfast. When I'm seriously sleep deprived, my body urges me to eat which usually means eating junk.
I'm hopeful of making another push in the right direction. Definitely want to drop more pounds especially now while the weather is good.
Breakfast: McD sausage mcmuffin
Made to about 10:00 before staying up way way way too late caught up to me. My body was okay staying up until midnight or so, but when it stretched past 2:00 it rebelled. And I'm paying the price today.
Lunch: Leftover pizza, same as yesterday
Dinner: 4 tacos, mexican style plus cheese
Exercise: Nope. Hopefully soon.
