Almost Twelve

Well that was ... pleasant?  Lengthy?  Semi-satisfactory?  Lots of words, none of which seem to fit perfectly.  I crawled into bed at 8:15 last evening, though I did not go to sleep for a while.  I dragged myself out of the recliner after 7:30 this morning, so almost twelve hours later.  I doubt that I got more than five or six hours of high quality sleep -- I woke up a lot while in bed and didn't really get much sleep after I moved to the recliner about 3:30.  But it was relaxing.  Somewhat restful.  We'll see how the day goes.

Last day of July, which has been an unmitigated disaster on all fronts. Better get going.

Breakfast:  2 slices pepper jack, coffee

Again.

Lunch:  NR pepperoni and cheddar on english muffin, chips and onion dip

 

 

Eating some on hand stuff. 

Dinner:  Qdoba brisket bowl, CFA 5pc nugget, brownie, coke

And some not on hand stuff.

We're finally due for a break in the weather.  After a brutal stretch of humidity it's finally supposed to be nice starting tomorrow.  Can't weight.  I have so much to do at home that's been waiting for better conditions.  I just don't do much when it's in the 80s indoors.

Breakfast:  2 slices pepper jack, coffee

Had different plans but went with the dependable fast option.

Lunch:  Culver's bacon deluxe, fries, Dr. Pepper

Another thing to fix when there is less heat and humidity.

Dinner:  BK texas whopper, fries, cheesy tots, Dr. Pepper, marshmallow pinwheel cookies

Couldn't decide on dinner.  

Need to get it in gear.

I would go and get my knee checked out, but I already know that they wouldn't know what it is.  I had this same thing, but worse, last summer after a day of overuse.  Visited the urgent care ortho, got x-rays, got a shrug.  Maybe arthritis.  It'll go away.  Eventually it did.  The fact of the matter is that there are so many things going on with that knee that it'll never be right.  Unless I have to have it replaced and I'd sure like to avoid that.  Which means I need to be less fat.

Breakfast:  2 slices swiss cheese, coffee

Last of the swiss.

Lunch:  Wendys 2x JBC, fries w ketchup, Dr. Pepper

Excessive

Dinner:  French dip, 12 oz Miller Lite

And TB supreme box, pepsi

Grinding

We've moved on to a new phase with the knee where it feels like it's kinda grinding.  It's not pleasant.  Also it's not stable so I have to watch it.  I am moving very slowly.  Doesn't help that I also feel like crap.  Going to need to do some dietary intervention, probably starting Wednesday.

Breakfast:  3 slices swiss cheese, coffee

Grabbed an extra slice and just went with it.

Lunch:  BK texas whopper, fries, cheesy tots, Dr. Pepper

Excessive.

Dinner:  LC pep pizza, sauce, pepsi

Very excessive.  And really not that good.  And I didn't get much done going back to the office.

Argh.  I was fine when I went to bed.  Tired, sure, but I was moving just fine.

Woke up this morning and I can hardly walk.  Left knee and leg.  Not sure if it's overuse, a stress fracture, arthritis, ligament damage or a combination of all of them.  How can it get that bad lying in bed?  Frustrating.

It's gotten a bit better as the morning has progressed, but still ... ouch.

Breakfast:  Donuts, coffee, mix

Just on hand junk.

Lunch:  McD 2x double cheeseburger, coke

On the go.

Also, a small popcorn and pepsi later. 

Dinner:  Steak, salad, four cheese potatoes, 12 oz Miller Lite, ice cream

Sunday dinners.

Exercise:  10 holes with cart.  Quit due to heat/humidity and injury.

A relatively rare day these days where I did not eat breakfast.  Not entirely surprising that I was not hungry after eating way too much last night, still a little bloated.  I was ready for something by ten or so, but I'll make it to lunch with no meaningful hunger.  

Between being busy and it being insanely hot with no A/C at home it will be a bad eating day.

I popped open twitter this morning and was greeted by an incredibly on-point tweet.  With apologies to Mr. Maunil Patel MD for the lack of a direct link, his post said -- Signs you're becoming metabolically healthy:  You don't crash after meals, you move through the day without sugar fixes, you take stairs without panting, you're not ruled by cravings or snack breaks, you sleep deeper, wake up sharper, your energy lasts longer than your meetings.

Yeah.  I am definitely not metabolically healthy.  I do crash after meals and I don't sleep deeply or wake up sharp.  Mixed bag on the other stuff, though there are definitely times where all of them are not good.  

As mentioned yesterday, I'm frustrated by how badly I feel during stretches of detox.  I need to power through and get on routine, but I struggle with finding days where I can just not be productive because I feel like crap.  That sounds like an excuse and it is an excuse, while also being true.

Anyway, another day.  I was a little puzzled by a drop on the scale but of course I never complain.  The late junk food meal calmed things down, I slept okay and felt decent when I got up this morning.  I am pleasantly surprised that my legs aren't beat up today, while it wasn't a big walking day yesterday there was some involved.

Breakfast:  2 slices pepper jack, coffee

Still not ideal, but it's very effective at making for a comfortable morning with no thoughts of food.  Not many carbs, not many calories.

Lunch:  Bacon egg and cheese on an english muffin

Only had swiss cheese this time and I half assed the eggs.  Still tasty.

Dinner:  Dominos pep bac beef onion, parm bites

Ugh.  Way too much.

Exercise:  Nope.

Hey, how about that!  I stopped at a grocery store for an item I missed yesterday and they had the clean local english muffins in stock.  I am silly excited about this.  No, I should not eat the carbs, but I definitely enjoyed my last run of breakfast sandwiches.  Let's go again.

Missing The Air

Off to a slow start this morning.  Woke up about 3:00, moved to the recliner, did more sleeping.  Lots of wild, vivid dreams.  Nothing much I remember other than the fact that they were wild.

My A/C has been out all season and most days it hasn't bothered me, but it's gotten a bit annoying.  It hit 80 degrees in here last night and since the outside air temp hasn't dipped much (plus it's been super humid) I can't cool it down.  Running the dehumidifier makes it more tolerable but it still saps my enthusiasm for accomplishing much of anything, since doing pretty much anything means sweating.

Breakfast:  Cheese toast, coffee

 


Thank goodness for the air fryer.  Quick, easy and not too much heat.

Lunch:  McD 2x double cheese, fries, coke

Only got fries b/c they were free. 

Dinner:  Home burger w MTP, chips, salad, 12 oz Miller Lite

 


Sunday dinners.  Also TB $5 box w pepsi

Exercise:  18 holes with cart.  Average walking.  I'm tired but not that tired.  Legs and feet are unhappy.

A pleasant summer Saturday.  Warm but not hot, humid but not suffocating.

Going to need to give up the beetus juice, but I'll probably finish the multipack I bought around the fourth.  It's funny that it's what I crave.  More so than food, even, at least when it's hot.  With crushed ice or nugget ice.

I was late getting out the door so no weight this morning.  I'm sure it was up. 

Breakfast:  2 eggs over easy, hash browns, 3 strips bacon, raisin toast w jam, coffee

 


Standard.

Lunch:  16 oz Miller Lite

Post-golf.

Dinner:  Double cheeseburger w lots of toppings, fries, Coke, a few salt and vinegar chips

Local place.  Fat burger.  Early dinner, will have some fudge graham cookies later.

Also very tired of having messed up legs/knees.  It's embarrassing (as well as annoying) to struggle to get up.  I'm generally fine once I get moving but yeesh, getting up is a problem.

Got nothing this morning.  No insight, no news, not even a meaningful post title.

Pleased to sleep okay, no cramps.  All credit to the electrolytes.  I wasn't even too terribly wiped out, which was nice.    That said, it would have been nice if today was a total washout - I could use the rest and we need the rain.  Instead, it'll be scattered showers and storms.  Just enough that could happen at any time and disrupt any plans.

Breakfast:  Blueberry donuts, coffee

 


Picked up a couple at the blueberry place yesterday.  Not bad, not at all, but not life changing.

A little later, two sliced of pepperoni cheese toast.

 


Lunch:  McD 2x double cheeseburger, Coke

Pre-golf lunch.

Dinner:  Brats w MR, potato salad, 12 oz Miller Lite, blueberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream

Phew.  It was pretty toasty out there.  I am fried.

Gradually getting back on the usual schedule after being all confuzzled yesterday.  By tomorrow evening it will feel like the correct day.

Different place.  Good omelet, inferior toast, good coffee.

Lunch:  12 oz Miller Lite, 20 oz Coke, Powerade

Needed all the liquids.  Definitely going to be an electrolyte night.

Dinner:  BK Texas Whopper, kettle salt and vinegar chips, Coke  

Went with easy.  Not many regrets. Will have Twix ice cream bars later.

Happy independence day.  It is insanely busy in the town where I live with people getting ready for fireworks, going to the beach, etc.

Lunch:  20 oz Coke, 16 oz light beer

Humid so I had a beverage during the round.

Yesterday felt like Friday.  So did today, for that matter.  Looking forward to a holiday weekend.

Scale was up today, but I didn't sweat it since I could feel that I was retaining some solid mass.  I'll be lighter once that's gone, though today's food choices may cancel the effect out.

Breakfast:  2 slices american cheese, coffee

Last of this package, worked out perfectly.  And as usual just a bit of food provided ample satiety for the morning.

Lunch:  Double cheeseburgers

Ended up at the local burger hut, very much worth the 15 minute wait.

Dinner:  TB supreme box, pepsi, a few chips

Thinking about a hot fudge sundae and a trip to the grocery store.  But neither are going to happen.

Exercise:  Nope.  Coming up this weekend though.

Those Few Bad Things

Still have too many bad habits.  I need to shake them.  No doubt it would be simpler if I applied a simple, disciplined low carb approach.  It's an excuse, no doubt, but life sure makes that difficult.

Scale was predictably up - I need to add some salt and vinegar chips to yesterday, had a few of those when I got home.  I'm still annoyed that I reached for the Pepsi to fix a crash and even MORE annoyed that it worked exactly as expected.  That's a train that I'd like to get off but man I sure don't like going through the lows. 

Anyway, another day closer to a holiday weekend.  Let's get to it.

Breakfast:  2 slices pepperjack cheese, coffee

Again.

Lunch:  Breakfast sandwich, salt and vinegar chips

 


Again good.   Gave it an extra minute in the air fryer.  It did not need an extra minute.

Dinner:  BK Texas double whopper

 


Will also have a glass of chocolate milk.

The end of another month.  I guess you'd call it successful, weight was down slightly month over month.  It's still very bad, but it has been worse.  And I'm at least a little more optimistic.  No change on the scale overnight, but as long as it's not up, great.

Woke up with a cramp, as soon as another threatened while I was working it out I went for the electrolytes.  Thank goodness for those.  Probably should have gone to them by default but I didn't drink excess water or sweat a lot yesterday.  I guess levels were still off from Sunday which is entirely believable. 

Otherwise really the only thing of note today is that I got the best blood pressure reading in a long time this morning.  I don't think it was in error, either.  We'll see what it looks like tomorrow.  Fingers crossed.

Breakfast:  2 slices pepper jack cheese, coffee

Again.

Lunch:  Breakfast sandwich

 


2 eggs, american cheese, NR pepperoni, english muffin w butter.  So good, though I wasn't able to heat it up since I forgot to run the dishwasher.

Pre-golf minimeal:  TB cantina chicken taco, chicken flatbread, Pepsi 

Dinner:  French dip sandwich, 12 oz Miller Lite, Pepsi

 


Standard.  Had a crash after, so I grabbed a Pepsi with lots of ice.  I really need to quit sugar altogether, I do not care for the swings but in this case it did exactly what I expected.
