Fun With Variance

Friday, March 7, 2014

Not that it has any special relevance to anything, but it's vaguely amusing to watch the scale bounce around when you're up toward the upper limit of what it will register.  Up!  Down!  Will it settle on a number?  Who knows?  Will that number mean anything?  Probably not!

Breakfast:  2 slices sharp cheddar, coffee (185 calories)

Usual weekday breakfast.  I might have to give some thought as to what else I could eat, just to take my cheese consumption down a notch.  I could eat lunch meats, but meh.  Maybe hard boiled eggs.  I generally don't feel like cooking anything and I am increasingly trying to avoid using the microwave.

Lunch:  Beef soft tacos (625 calories)

The clean plate just seems ... wrong.
Skipped the lettuce and tomato, lazy man's version.  Took it very easy on the sour cream.  Beef was also a bit on the light side, so pretty comfortable with the lower calorie count.  In the future I think I could probably stand to use two fewer tortillas and up the beef.

Dinner:  Homemade einkorn/parmesan crust pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms, romaine salad with homemade "ranch" dressing (1200 calories)

Friday night pizza, one of my very favorite traditions
Pizza was so good.  The mushrooms were an impulse buy - I stopped at the store for buttermilk, ended up buying romaine and mushrooms too.  Salad was romaine, roma tomato and some sliced pepperocinis.

Now for the hard part, calculating the calories!  Okay, done and this was a bit more caloric than I would have thought.  The main culprit was the cheese - I was careless dumping it out so I figure I got 3/4 C instead of the 1/2 C that was my target.  I could also, you know, measure stuff.  Instead I eyeball and round up, which is inaccurate and probably inadequate but it's what lazy me does.

Day total:  2010 calories.  Right on target.

Exercise:  Nope.  It was warmer today though, so there is hope!
