Last day of the year.  Can't say that I'll miss 2025, though 2026 will probably be worse.

Anyway, I'll be having the traditional pizza, maybe some cava (if my bottle is any good, it was a long summer without A/C).  Planning to make a batch of soup.  We'll see what else.

Breakfast:  Pretzel bagel w veggie cream cheese, coffee

Very tasty today.

Lunch:  Meatloaf sandwich, fries

Dinner:  Pep bacon pizza, Coke

As usual for 12/31.  Also cheese popcorn.  Never did open the cava.

Too Much Reclining

Spent entirely too much time in the recliner over the holiday.  That really needs to stop.  Even if I'm not being super active I need to not spend endless hours there.  I can feel the rapid physical decline, and while I'm certainly comfortable at rest, the inactivity is the problem.

It's also impacting my project list, very little of which is getting accomplished.  I am hopeful that fixing some things will result in a little more energy, a little more initiative.  Lately it's just been too easy to decide to do it all later.

Breakfast:  Cheese sandwich (bread, butter, Cabot white american), orange juice, coffee

 


Also had a few leftover ritz crackers later.

Lunch:  Salami cheese toast

Not much planned for today.  Have a funeral to attend.  Things to do around the house.  I should go to the office but probably will not.  Sunday dinner.  At least the coming week should have some opportunities to get work done.

I bought some salami and deli sliced american and need to start using it up.  This was quite tasty.

Up too late.  Had to move my car off the street at 2:00 am.  And then it was up every two hours for water disposal.  Sheesh.  On the positive side, I'm somehow down slightly again today.

It was time for the first post-holiday scale guessing game.  And the answer is .. way down?  Nice!  Thanks to a major system cleanout and lots of water removal.  Whatever, I'll take it.  Will be some leftover feasting today and I have a few food gifts to clean up over the next few, but about January 2 it'll be time to get deadly serious.

Anyway, super slow start to the day.  Slept in, it was a night of wild, weird dreams.  Much of which I remembered, which is not usually the case.

Worst almond banket I've ever had.  Tremendously disappointing.

Not Holding Back On Tradition

Our family holiday traditions are pretty locked in, though I always wonder how many more years we have.  You just never know.  Going to enjoy them for as much time as we have.

Anyway, one stupid tradition is that I never get around to making the christmas morning sausage strata on the 24th.  Got home after midnight and I sure didn't feel like making it, so I got up at 5:00.  Oof.  Got another hour or so after I did, but I'm still way short on sleep.

Scale was not up much at all.  BP number was much improved.  Go figure. 

Breakfast:  Sausage strata, banana nut bread w butter, grapefruit, orange juice, coffee, pecan coffee cake

 


Dependably good.

Lunch:  Leftover party appetizers/ grazing

Not going to list, just some of this and some of that.  Didn't eat that much.

Dinner:  Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, peas, rolls w butter, jello salad, cranberry, christmas cookies with vanilla ice cream

Christmas is coming.  It's an enormous train, barrelling down the tracks at high speed, directly at you.  I have not done a single bit of decorating.  I have purchased gifts for one person, only because they have to be shipped out of state.  I had better get busy.

Nothing much of note this morning.  Scale up, predictably.  Hoping to make a batch of soup today so I have something better to eat handy.  I look notably puffy and fat.

Oh, and on the Christmasy front a local business had a couple reindeer brought in for kids to visit.  You have to love that.

Weekend standard, good as always.

Lunch:  Italian beef, fries

A slow start to Sunday.  Stayed up way too late watching football, it was not surprising that I wasn't sleepy given that I did sleep in yesterday.  But now I deal with the consequences.

It is unfortunate that I do not have more zip.  I am really going to need to make some changes, though I think the major ones are not going to see consistency until after the holiday.  I can start though.

Scale was down fractionally.  BP numbers fine, pulse weird low.  I don't believe my gizmo.

I really should come up with something else for Sunday breakfast, these just have no satiety.

Whew.  Made it to the weekend.  I was out of gas yesterday afternoon.  I couldn't even manage the usual Friday evening task of hitting the grocery store.  I'll pay for that today, ugh.  Grocery shopping on Saturday is the worst.

Anyway, hoping to stop the slide.  I have some cooking plans lined up, though I will need to scale back some due to lack of freezer space.  There will definitely be too much flour involved as well.

Scale was predictably up.  When you have a multi-day screwup, it may take a bit to recover.  BP number was good.  I slept fine, though it took a very very long time to get up and moving.  

Breakfast:  Sprouted spelt lazy bagels w chive & onion cream cheese, orange juice, coffee

 


I am enjoying the spelt, a nice twist on the usual flavor.

Lunch:  Enchilada egg casserole, Mexican coke

 


Eggs, milk (a change), sausage, peppers and onions, cheddar cheese, Sonos red enchilada sauce.  Easy, tasty, and two more meals in the fridge.  Picked up a mexican coke when I got groceries, hitting the spot after shoveling.  I should have checked when I was there, it looks like Meijer has cane sugar Coke in a six pack of 8 oz bottles.  Not that I should have any, of course.

Dinner:  Home Detroit-style pizza w pepperoni and sausage, Long Road lavender lemonade (w vodka)

 

 

Didn't quite nail the crust, but I didn't expect perfect from the recipe I followed.  Will be looking around for a better one.  I won a four pack of the bevs, working on getting them out of my fridge.

Exercise:  Shoveling.  I'm counting it.  At least a good half hour of heavy, wet snow.  Worked up a decent sweat.  Other than that just the usual weekend stuff including a full tour of the grocery store.

Entirely expected.  Nothing makes me blow up faster than chain pizza slop.  I guessed at this morning's number and it was even higher than that.  Bah.  It'll come down when it leaves, but I really, really need to gain some focus here.

Added the beans since they needed to be used up and my dinner plans changed.

Okay then.  Yesterday's eating was ... not so good.  I mean it tasted good, but it was not what I should be eating.  Not at all.

And yet, even in fail there is often a silver lining.  Yesterday's culinary waywardness provided the bulk and grease I have been needing and I got a lovely full system reset this morning.  Yes.  Thank you.  And the funny thing?  Thanks undoubtedly to that, the scale was actually down a shade this morning.  Hah. 

It was nice that the excessive dinner did not screw up sleeping notably, though I definitely needed all the sleep I could get.  It didn't feel like I was fighting it (due to digestion).  I was not ready to get up, but once I got going I've felt pretty good today.  BP was up a bit, a nice reminder that I need to eat home cooking.

Breakfast:  Cabot seriously sharp cheddar, orange juice, coffee

 


A bit heavy on the cheese and light on the OJ.  Had cacao butter (x2) in coffee, definitely on a kick with that.

Lunch:  Smoked ham, mashed potatoes, Coke

 


Picked up a ham piece from the BBQ place last time, it's quite tasty.  I'll eat the rest of it tomorrow.  Also very reasonably priced, it was ~ $7 for the piece.  

Going to see about giving up the pop once this bottle is gone.  It might be that time.

Fail.  Major fail.

I get a little frustrated with mornings like this.  I slept fine.  Got to sleep without incident, slept without waking until my alarm went off about 6:30.  It should have been enough.  It was not.  Tried snoozing a bit, it didn't really work.  Eventually dragged myself up and got ready for the day.  Late to work and I am not feeling the least bit productive so far.  I honestly do not know if a couple more hours of sleep would fix me or if it were even possible, but I would sure like to give it a shot right about now.

Although the scale was sharply up I'm not so frustrated by that.  Yesterday was a bad eating day and I did not have time to spend on processing this morning.  Today should be better as I do not have the same scheduling crunch mid-day as I have had the last two days.

Breakfast:  Cabot seriously sharp cheddar, orange juice, coffee

 


I think I will again toss some cacao butter wafers into my later coffees (edit: 1x). 

Lunch:  Double cheeseburgers, Jesse & Bens avo oil fries (air fryer), ketchup


Just could not make myself fix anything, and then I "fixed" some fries because I still had the hunger.  Scrounged up a few ketchup packets. 

Dinner:  Pepperoni bacon pizza, Coke

Again with the couldn't make myself.  Tomorrow needs to be better. 

And the capper, chocolate chip cookies and whole milk.  Last of the premium milk.

Slowed Way The Blank Down

A very sluggish start.  I woke up at a reasonable hour, but spent a very long time doing nothing.  I suspect I would have been better served by snoozing than scrolling, but scrolling is what I did.  Instead of the early start to the work day I was hoping for I got in late.

Nothing else of note.  Weight minimum down.  BP fine.  Pulse slowed way down, from about 10 bpm above typical yesterday to 10+ bpm below this morning and about as low as it gets.  No idea why or whether it really has much of an impact on anything, but it was noted. 

Busy day coming up so I need to un-slow myself.

Breakfast:  1 slice extra sharp cheddar, orange juice, coffee

 


Last slice in the package.  I am expecting to put some cacao butter in subsequent coffees, but not in round 1.

Lunch:  Deluxe sub, Pepsi

 


Not the plan.  I got stuck and instead of having a half hour to fix eggs I had to go off to my work thing and eat later. 

Dinner:  Leftover turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, jello salad, cranberry, rolls w butter

Well that was nice.  Time to return to reality.

Although I am, as expected, tired and cranky this morning, I had less trouble than anticipated falling asleep last night.  Must be the tryptophan or something.  Slept okay, just did not get enough.  Weight up as expected, need to clear things out.  All in all, it's Monday.

Breakfast:  2 slices Meijer extra sharp cheddar, orange juice, coffee

 


Again.

Lunch:  4 eggs over, 1C spicy beans, a sprinkle of cheddar cheese, Coke

 


Didn't have much time so I winged it a bit.  Feeling good about doing this instead of dining out. 

Dinner:  Home pizza with NR pepperoni, 12 oz Miller Lite

 


Very tasty.  Needed something hot on a very wintry night.
