Flow Initiated

Hah.  Despite covering the entire carb landscape -- I had corn, wheat, potatoes, sugar, other carbs -- yesterday I still noticed some water release kicking in.  Apparently paying even the slightest bit of attention makes a difference.  Not a complaint, not at all.  Just amusing to me.

Otherwise, okay.  I did have a sugar craving last night so I had some semi-sweet chocolate chips, the only thing I had handy.  Not ideal.  Not at all.  But not the end of the world.  Hopefully that will subside quickly as the carbs get phased out some.

Breakfast:  Coffee

No issues with this part.  Have not been hungry.

Lunch:  Soup, bread w butter and smokehouse cheddar


Standard.  Decided not to grill the sandwich given odd bread size and the fact that it had not been frozen so it did not need it.

Dinner:  Barbacoa, mashed potatoes, guacamole, 12 oz All Day IPA


Also standard.  And very tasty.  Going top it off with some chocolate chips.

Exercise:  Nope.  One thing at a time.

Okay So Here We Go Again

Off to an okay start.  Didn't get to sleep until late so I was tired when I got up this morning.  Had a fairly productive AM, a solid lunch.  Let's see how the rest of it goes.

I will say that it was nice to spend yesterday doing stuff around the house.  It's much more picked up.  I could have used an additional day to start tackling some of the project type stuff, but just being up to date on the routine things is a huge win.  Thanks rain.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Leftover instapot lazy short rib ragu, mashed potatoes


Better over potatoes and better after a day in the fridge.  Quite tasty indeed.

Dinner:  2x mexican 3x american tacos, 12 oz All Day IPA


Extra taco but still have the hunger.  Argh.

Also:  Bread w butter (from slicing up the loaves I baked yesterday), some chocolate chips

About time to kick off another push to be better.  I'm pretty stocked up on food - in fact I need to check to see if I've got room in the freezer for more soup before I do another batch - and I'm ready to be less fat.  April hasn't been very good.

And of course it would be great if I could get some fringe benefits, like losing the leg cramps.  Had a couple bouts last night, bad enough to wake up and have to stand up to deal with them.  It may be that I'll never be able to get rid of them due to too many accumulated injuries, but I do retain some miniscule hope that losing weight, better fitness and some set of dietary changes may someday free me from them.    

Anyway, time to get cracking, I'm behind.

Breakfast:  Lazy bagels w Good Culture plain cream cheese, coffee


Tasty as ever, as non-sating as ever.

Lunch:   Instapot short rib lazy ragu on bowtie pasta


Yesterday's cooking project.  Took longer than I anticipated, but since it was my first try not a huge surprise.  Pretty tasty.  Not the ideal pasta choice, but you go with what you have.

Snack:  A few chips/onion dip (cleaned up).  Entemanns mini apple pies.

Dinner:  Spaghetti w meatballs, salad w briannas avo oil ranch, garlic bread, 12 oz Miller Lite


Sunday dinners.  Yeah, very pasta-y today.

Also:  Culvers bacon deluxe, choc mint shake.  Okay, we're done.

Exercise:  Nope.  Rained out, which was okay, honestly.

I can't really explain it, but I feel kinda off this evening.  Not bad - not sick, not in pain, not exhausted, just off.  I'm guessing it might have something to do with being up since 4:30, but who knows.  It could be anything.  I'm just waiting for my instapotted stuff to cool down enough to put it in the fridge then I'll crash hard.

Breakfast:  Meat lovers omelet, raisin toast, a third of a pancake, coffee


Different pre-golf breakfast place today.  All good and a lot too much.

Lunch:  12 oz Miller Lite, chips and onion dip

Too many chips.

Dinner:   Dominos bacon jala cheese bread (I did not notice any bacon), 12 oz All Day IPA, donuts and a glass of whole milk

Uhhh.  My planned instapot dinner needed more cooking so I audibled.  Not convinced it was the right decision but whatever.  I am looking forward to trying it tomorrow.

A Sort Of Capitulation

One of the weirder side effects of my screwed up sleep is that I have been buying things at 4:00 a.m.  A couple weeks ago I got a good deal on a saucier, this week I impulse bought an Instant Pot.  Oh, sure, I spent a good hour "researching", but at the end of the day it's an impulse buy.  I have avoided buying one for years and years -- always thinking that I can just slow cook stuff.  But you know what, sometimes it's nice to be able to do a chuck roast in an hour.  If I'm going to really get cranking on the batch cooking it would be nice to be able to do it in one of the small windows I have available, especially during the summer.  So I have capitulated, sorta, and I now own an Instapot.

Breakfast:  TB sausage crunchwrap, bacon burrito.  Coffee.  Later, a donut.

Worst TB breakfast I've had in a long time.  So I'm fine not getting it again anytime soon.

Lunch:  Soup, A Dozen Cousins spanish rice


Finally a more normal lunch, though I did buy a pouch of the rice to try.  It was a nice addition to the soup, kinda meh on its own.

Dinner:  Barbacoa, mashed potatoes, guac, 12 oz All Day IPA.  Donuts and a glass of whole milk.


First of the batch I made last weekend, really good.  Might be the best batch yet.  Highly satisfactory.  I got six containers, I think, out of last week's roast, so I should be good for the coming week.  I figure I need four per week since I will probably continue to get tacos on Monday and weekends are different.

Exercise:  Nope.  Looking forward to getting outside tomorrow.  Hope the rain holds off.

Nightmarish

Considering that I have some very vivid dreams, I'm glad that more of them are not nightmares.  Last night was very much out of the ordinary -- I had two nightmares.  The first was my biggest fear, which I will not get into other than to say I'm surprised I don't get it more often.  The second was more mundane - I bought a computer and two other items and had them stolen from a locker within the store while I was getting a cart to take them out.  Not a huge deal, just loss of money and aggravation.

Anyway, I kinda suspect that the dreaming related to eating too much, I definitely paid the price.  Was up and down multiple times.  Woke up at 4:00, was awake for an hour and then decided I could scratch out a couple more hours which I did.  

Time to get back on track tomorrow.  Let's hope.

Breakfast:  Lazy bagels w plain Good Culture cream cheese, coffee


Tasty, bad for me.

Lunch:  Donuts early, then 2x Culvers bacon single


I think I'll be good on donuts for a while.  And Culvers too as these weren't quite as good.

Was okay.  Probably going to have some sparkling water with a splash of OJ to deal with a sweet craving without eating more food.

Anyway, exercise won the battle with donuts yesterday, but only barely.  It's not something I should make a regular feature.  If I just paid attention and ate right there is a bunch of weight that would just fall right off.  So do it already.

At least there was this.  No problem.

Lunch:   4 eggs scrambled w 2 slices of smokehouse cheddar and hatch chilis, 3 strips CF bacon, 2 slices bread w butter and homemade jam, orange juice with sparkling water


This is how you carbify a lunch that should be virtually carbless.  Just have eggs and cheese and bacon.  But no, gotta add a bunch of other stuff.  Dimwit.  At least it was tasty.

Snack:  BK double cheeseburge

Dinner:  2x mexican 2x american tacos, 12 oz All Day IPA, home choc chip cookies

It was a pretty pleasant day.  I woke up at 3:00, but eventually -- say around 4:30 or so -- managed to go back to sleep.  I was glad to get the extra couple hours, though I certainly could have gotten going when I woke up, I was quite awake.   Drove an hour for a quick meeting and a leisurely breakfast.  Which was enjoyable.  Golf this afternoon and I'm ready to crash after dinner.  

Too bad tomorrow has to be Monday.

Breakfast:  Denver omelet, hash browns, raisin toast, coffee

All tasty.

Lunch:  Donuts, glass of whole milk, 2x McDouble

I went by a location of the good donut place.  Doh.  

Dinner:  Home tacos w lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese.  Doritos.  Applesauce.  12 oz Miller Lite, donuts

Well it's been interesting.  Went to bed at a reasonable time, woke up at ... 3:30 am.  And could not get back to sleep, so the day began not that much later.  It wasn't super productive, but I did get in a little pickup time at the office and did my grocery shopping.  There is a ton more that I could have done, but oh well.

Breakfast:  Bread w butter, coffee, donuts

Second breakfast:  2 eggs over medium, hash browns, 3 strips bacon, raisin toast w homemade jelly, coffee

Whew.  Pretty much done.  After a very long and MASSIVELY productive day, I have nearly completed my deadline work.  For now.  A whole fresh crop of projects arrived on my desk this week, so I will be insanely busy again next week.  But not like this week.

In other news, I LOL'd again as the scale again dipped slightly.  It's a mirage, I am very fat and moreso in the middle than usual.  But amusing none the less.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.  Long morning when you start early.

Lunch:  Jimmy Johns vito, salt and vinegar chips, cookies, diet lemonade.  Was also given a chocolate donut before lunch, so I ate a little earlier than usual.

I was curious to see what impact the cookies would have on yesterday's result.  I got a good number on the scale, so that's a plus.  I do have a day or (most likely) two of additional cookies, so we'll see if that throws things off track yet.  

I'll also be interested to see about sleep.  Went to bed and was asleep just after 10.  Woke up before midnight, water disposal.  Woke up two hours later, foot cramp.  Was still very much sound asleep when the alarm went off at 6:30.  Took a while to get moving, I easily could have slept another hour or two.  Sure would be nice to be consistent.

Anyway, it's another super busy day.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.  Again not an issue.

Lunch:  4 eggs scrambled w hatch chiles and hot sauce, 3 CF sausage patties, orange juice


Last of the sausage.  I had some leftover hot sauce from the taco place so I used that, was a tasty upgrade.  Also bumped the egg count to 4 in hopes of a little more satiety.

Dinner:  Pizza Hut thin pep ham pork beef onion, breadsticks w sauce, home choc chip cookies

Complete meltdown.  Consumed at work (other than the cookie nightcap).  I will be so glad when I get this stuff done.

Spontaneously Good For Once

Well, that's different.  I had planned out today's meals and while I was waking up I spontaneously decided to bin those plans and do a 2MAD day.  Maybe I'll make it a thing - breakfast for lunch and a sensible dinner.  Easy.  Simple.  I definitely need to have dinners made ahead so I don't have to cook during the week, so I can have soup, reheat meat and mash, that sort of thing.  I may choose to cook occasionally but it's usually a recipe for wasting food.

Or maybe I'll change it up tomorrow.  But for today, so far so good.

Breakfast:  Coffee

There you go.

Lunch:  3 CF eggs sunny, 3 CF sausage patties, hatch chilis, orange juice


Tasty.  I could have just scrambled the eggs.  Will probably do that tomorrow.

Dinner:  2x mexican, 2x american tacos.  12 oz All Day IPA.  Home chocolate chip cookies



Dunno why but I was possessed to make cookies.  And I have some left!  Other than that it was a pretty successful day.

Exercise:  Nope.  Certainly could have - woke up at 5:15, was fully awake by 5:45 but didn't really get moving.  Spent a lot of time mentally sifting through what needed to be done today.

Turns out that eating a little less and getting some exercise is a good thing.  Go figure.

Pretty tired last night, got up once for water removal but otherwise slept through.  It wasn't the greatest night of sleep ever but it was at least average.  A bit of a headache this morning but as usual a shower and coffee is handling it.  Plan is to spend as much time at work as I can stand.  Oh joy.

Breakfast:  Leftover pancakes, CF sausage, OJ, coffee

Tasty, not notably satiating though I'll give it some time.  Maybe it'll kick in.

Lunch:  McD Big Mac, 2x McChix, Coke Zero, a few Maiz chips

Ugh.

Dinner:  Roast w gravy, box potatoes, carrots, SF peaches, 12 oz Miller Lite

Not the finest effort.

Whew.  Glad to have reached the weekend, even if there is much to be done.  Slept decently for once, I think it helped that dinner was slightly smaller last night.  Need to decrease it further.  And ban evening pizza forever.  

I also think it helped to get more exercise today, the walking was good for my legs.  We'll see how they do tonight, but post-golf they feel pretty decent.  I am tired, though.

Hoping that it's going to be a better week for the eating.  I dunno about the exercise, that depends on the sleep and I do have a need to work a bunch of extra hours.  So we'll see.

Breakfast:  2 eggs over medium, 3 strips bacon, hash browns, raisin toast w homemade jam, coffee
