Doing This Wrong

Sunday, September 30, 2012

I should be paying extra attention, tomorrow being the first of a new month an all.  Not happening.  I did lay in some good supplies yesterday at the farm and  mapped out a menu plan for this week so that's good.  The menu plan looks a lot like this week though, which is not so good.

Breakfast:  2 smaller russet potatoes mashed, sausage gravy with a bit of roasted red pepper.  Coffee

So much deliciousness in a bowl.  Not photogenic though.
I cooked up some sausage gravy using the same general recipe I used to make hamburger gravy last week.  I had a roll of Bob Evans hot sausage (for next time I bought some at the farm), browned it, added a little butter to the drippings and cooked a little frozen onion.  Added a couple spoonfuls of brown rice flour for thickening, whisked it, added the sausage back, seasoned with some extra pepper and some cayenne, added whole milk.  Just delicious.

Lunch:  2 double cheeseburgers, small fries (local place, burger patties are probably 1/10th of a lb)

Snack:  Chips with onion dip

Dinner:  Italian hoagie, garlic bread with cheese

Exercise:  9 holes walking.  Another nice evening for it.  I also chased around cleaning the house and stuff for a good part of the day.  I'll sleep well tonight.

Road Trip

Saturday, September 29, 2012

A little road trip to play golf this morning.  I got up super early (5:15 am) after staying up for hours and hours past my bedtime.  Going to need to crash early tonight I think.

Breakfast:  Leftover soaked oatmeal reheated with milk and a little butter; coffee

Lunch:  Corned beef reuben with a few waffle fries

Snack:  Popcorn

Dinner:  Deluxe pizza

Exercise:  18 holes with cart, lots and lots of extra walking.  If I had known anything about the course we played today I would have just walked it.  Super walker-friendly.

Hungry come dinner time, did some DAMAGE to that pizza!

Fine Fall

Friday, September 28, 2012

Another great looking day out there.  It's supposed to be in the mid 60s to mid 70s for another week or so with little chance of rain.  The leaves are turning and it's just a beautiful time of year.

I was thinking this morning that if I make some progress over the next couple weeks cleaning the house - including the carpets - I might switch mattresses.  I've resisted doing so since that mattress is in good shape and I didn't want to abuse it me being so heavy and all but I'm really starting to think that should be something I do anyway because I just won't have money for the foreseeable future to replace the one I've been using.

Breakfast:  1 oz genoa salami, 1 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar, coffee

Overslept badly this morning, it's likely that my body was busy fighting through last night's pizza.  That needs to be a consideration when I hopefully work on some changes this weekend.

Lunch:  3 eggs fried in a little butter, 5 strips instabacon, 1 small organic avacado, coffee

Tried hard to ruin the eggs but they were edible.  Finished off the instabacon, probably won't buy more.  If I'm going to eat bacon I can invest the time to cook it.  Skipped taking a picture because meh.

Snack:  2 Taco Bell chicken burritos, popcorn

Dinner:  Deluxe pizza (less than usual), salad with italian (less than usual), ~ 24 oz Miller Lite

Exercise:  9 holes with cart, some extra walking.

Colorful Excess

Thursday, September 27, 2012

Still frustrated.  Will be striving to get some things sorted out this coming weekend.

Breakfast:  Soaked oatmeal with whole milk and a little butter.  Coffee.

I was curious what the nutritional profile for this breakfast looks like.  Since I don't use a tremendous amount of milk or butter, it looks like it's only about 300 calories.  I think.  I don't exactly have a lot of confidence in some of the calorie information out there and it's not like I double checked it.

Lunch:  3 eggs scrambled in a little butter with a splash of milk, plus onion, green pepper, roasted red pepper and triple cheddar cheese; 5 strips bacon, 1 small organic avacado.  Coffee.

What, you were expecting something other than eggs?
This was a bit much.  I could have kept it to 2 eggs and about half as much bacon.  It was still quite good.  And colorful!  Very colorful!

Also of note:  Roasted red pepper is another item - like avacado - that rates high on my list of "foods I never had as a kid or at least not that I remember and holy cow was I missing out all these years, YUM".

Snack:  2 Taco Bell chicken burritos

Dinner:  Little Caesars pepperoni pizza

Exercise:  9 holes walking.  Managed to get the whole round in (barely).  A beautiful evening.

A Decided Lack of Seriousness

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

I am just not getting the job done eating-wise.  It's a little frustrating.  The good news is that I haven't gained a bunch of weight thanks to getting a lot more exercise that previously.  The bad news is that I haven't lost much of anything despite that exercise.  I really need to flip the switch mentally that gets me back on track for the rest of the year.  I was super good for months early in the year.  It produced weight loss.  I've been only intermittently good since then and it's produced precious little.  Get a brain, moran.

On a more positive note the weather forecast for the next ten days is fantastic, so hopefully I can get in a bunch more walking nines before the end of the season.  Some of that depends on how quickly I can leave the office and get out there -- it gets dark well before 8:00 now, soon it'll be closer to 7:00.  When you don't get home until after 6:00 time is short.

Breakfast:  1 oz genoa salami, 1 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar, coffee

Lunch:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese and avacado; sausage; coffee

Dinner:  2.5 slices (about a third of a pizza) homemade pizza with various toppings - pepperoni, sausage, ham, I think there was a little pineapple.

Was invited over for dinner, hard to turn down good pizza!

Exercise:  6 holes of golf, walking.  Another pleasant evening.

Staying In Range

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

I continue to dink around, doing pretty well at exercise and failing hard at eating.  I ate more yesterday than I had planned.

Breakfast:  Leftover oatmeal with milk and a little butter

Lunch:  2 eggs scrambled with sausage and triple cheddar, 1 small organic avacado, coffee.  More sausage this time, finishing off the package.

Dinner:  Ham, bacon, swiss and mayo on toast, fries, 1 x 12 oz Miller Lite, brat with bun

Snacks:  2 oz CF cajun beef jerky, chips and onion dip

Exercise:  9 holes with cart, only a little extra walking

Fail.

Mostly Leftover Monday

Monday, September 24, 2012

I stayed up too late last night.  Intended to crash at halftime of the football game, didn't extract myself from the computer room before the second half started, got sucked in.  Doh.  I'm really bad at that for some reason.

Today has been a decent day thus far.  Felt a little bloated this morning but that's not a big surprise given the major eating (especially of starch) this weekend.  A lot of water has been released during the day so I'm returning to form.

Breakfast:  Leftover soaked oatmeal, reheated with some whole milk, a very small pat of butter.  Coffee.

Lunch:  3 eggs scrambled with triple cheddar cheese and a little Jimmy Dean sausage.  1 smallish organic avacado.  Coffee.
Oh look, another egg picture.  How surprising!
I should really learn how to season my own sausage.

Dinner:  Leftover hamburger gravy, 1 medium russet potato mashed

Snack:  Some tortilla chips.  I used to buy these because they were local and the ingredient list consisted of corn, water, oil and salt (iirc).  Now they have more ingredients.  Not buying again.

Exercise:  6 holes walking.

Too Much Food

Sunday, September 23, 2012

Up too late so I might as well clean this up.  I ate too much today.

Breakfast:  Another batch of soaked oatmeal with a little butter and whole milk.  Coffee

Lunch:  Hamburger gravy (grass fed ground beef, a little onion, brown rice flour, milk, spices) on 2 small russet potatoes, mashed.  Yum.  I would have taken a picture but it wasn't visually impressive.

Snack:  Brat with bun, mustard and onions.  1 package peanut butter crackers.  Bloody Mary.

Dinner:  Hamburger with bun, american cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, bacon.  1/2 hamburger with mayo, green olives.  A few chips.  A little salad with thousand island

Snack:  Chips and onion dip

Exercise:  18 holes with cart, lots of extra walking.

Oats

Saturday, September 22, 2012

I've been doing some reading lately, and one of the things I've read about is the concept of soaking grains to reduce phytic acid.  I don't think I've ever done that, so I decided to give it a shot.  I picked up some oats and whole milk.  I don't have access to raw milk so non-homogonized is the best I could do.

Breakfast:  Soaked oatmeal (organic rolled oats soaked overnight in water & buttermilk) with butter and whole milk.  Coffee

Not eggs.
This was quite tasty and no sour taste was noted.  Some of that may be the commercial buttermilk being weak but I don't have an immediate way around that.  It was filling and stuck with me.

Snack:  1 package peanut butter crackers

Lunch:  Ham, bacon and swiss on toast, fries, 1 x 12 oz Miller Lite

Snack:  Tortilla chips with triple cheddar cheese, a little sausage and Ro-tel

Dinner:  Deluxe pizza

Exercise:  36 holes with cart.  Lots of extra walking during the first round.  Pretty tired tonight.

Experimental Idea

Friday, September 21, 2012

I have my blood viscosity tested periodically.  I'm on coumadin (blood thinner) and will be forever.  One of the issues with that drug is that you have to monitor it.  I've had an interesting range of results.  I've noticed that my results the last few months have been that my blood is "thicker" -- i.e. it clots faster.  My doctor has tried to counteract that by slightly upping my dosage of coumadin but today's number tied for the thickest blood.

It's known that a lot of green vegetables have vitamins that reduce the efficacy of coumadin.  (I'm also not supposed to drink alcohol but I think there are other issues there).  I have a working theory, though, that my blood thickens when I eat more carbohydrate.  It may be a completely dumb theory, but I'd be interested to see if there is any truth to it.  If I remember, I'd like to try and be extra diligent for a while before my next blood draw.

That may or may not happen.

Breakfast:  2 salt bagels with veggie cream cheese, coffee

Lunch:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese, avacado; sausage; coffee

Dinner:  Double cheeseburger, fries

Snack:  Chips and onion dip

Exercise:  I shopped for a little over an hour mid-day.  The weather isn't very conducive to outdoor activity (it's raining).  Shopped a bunch more in the evening.

Oversleeping Bugs Me

Thursday, September 20, 2012

I was wound up for some reason last night.  I didn't do much after a late dinner but still didn't go to bed until very late.  I think tonight's project just might involve stripping the bedroom of everything electronic so that when I go to bed I'm there to sleep and NOTHING else.  No snacking, no websurfing, no watching TV.

I also slept through my alarm this morning (oh, I heard the first one, but not the followup two).  Thankfully I had nothing critical on the calendar this morning but it was still annoying to be late.  I took the time to weigh in and I was down a fraction, down a couple pounds this month.  I think that the lesson I ought to learn here is that there are still good chunks of weight that will fall off if I just can be more consistent.

Breakfast:  1 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar, coffee

Didn't take the 30 seconds required to open a new package of salami and I'm not entirely sure that I remembered to drink the coffee.  I do recall pouring it and took at least a sip, but dunno if I came back to it. I'll find out at lunch I guess.

Lunch:  2 eggs fried in a bit of butter with a sprinkle of shredded triple cheddar cheese, 3 Johnsonville beef brats;  coffee.  Pic?  Pic:
Perfect over easy eggs
The brats are better grilled and I'm not sure I needed three of them but I did manage to finish off an open package and do something toward cleaning out the fridge...

Snack:  ~ 2 oz CF original beef jerky.  It was actually a bit less since I went a little over yesterday, but the total was 4 between the two days.

Dinner:  Little Caesars pepperoni/sausage pizza.  Oof.

Exercise:  9 holes walking.  I skipped a small portion thinking it would be dark but it actually worked out quite nicely.  Good day.

Odd Effect

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

I don't drink much but I've noticed that I'm probably more sensitive to alcohol than I used to be.  The primary impact it seems to have is that I wake up earlier the next morning.  It's odd.

Weather forecast for the next few days doesn't look real good.  It's tough enough that the days are getting short, add in cooler temps, wind and rain and it may be coming up on 'do a couple laps around the store' season.  Bah.

Breakfast:  The usual.  1 oz genoa salami, 1 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar, coffee

Lunch:  2 egg omelet with a little sausage and some shredded Kraft triple cheddar cheese. 1 medium avacado, sliced.  Coffee.  Pic?  Pic:

Snack:  ~ 2 oz CF original beef jerky

Dinner:  Italian hoagie from local sub shop, 1 bag Meijer naturals double butter popcorn

I had a hard time deciding what I wanted for dinner after golf.  The sandwich was good but it wasn't the greatest choice and it was $7.  A good rainy day project some day soon would be to brainstorm more quick meals to have at home.

Exercise:  5 holes, walking.  Took an hour.  Played as a twosome instead of alone and had to wait for the first couple holes so that reduced the hole count.  I would guess about 2 miles.  Felt fine, great weather for it.

Green Vegetable Shortage

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

Lots of starch going.  Some of it will continue, since I have potatoes and popcorn to use up.  No real reason, though, why I have so few green veggies in my diet the last week or so.  Maybe I need a taco salad or something.

Breakfast:  1 oz genoa salami, 1 big slice sharp cheddar, coffee

Lunch:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese, avacado; sausage; coffee

Hey look, a green vegetable.  Avacados count, right?  (*world facepalms*).  I didn't take a picture, not a huge fan of doing that in a restaurant though I probably could when it's not super busy.

Dinner:  Assorted appetizers - bbq meatballs, cream cheese wraps, fries, fried cauliflower, cheese cubes.  4.5 x 12 oz Miller Lite

Ugh.  Ate it because I was hungry.  Not good.  Junk.

Snack:  1 bag Meijer naturals double butter popcorn

Exercise:  9 holes with cart, minimal extra walking.  Format not conducive.

Monday: Back Again

 Monday, September 17, 2012

After a picture-perfect late summer weekend it hardly seems fair that it's Monday already.  Of course it's one of those days where I acknowledge that I could have used to work this weekend and I did not.  I played.  Hit the golf course and watched football.

And, oh yeah, I ate too much.  The scale was definitely up a few pounds this morning when I weighed in.  Nothing drastic but I really need to not go quite so crazy on the weekends.  Weekdays other than Tuesday nights (and that's about over) aren't too bad and I'm in the saddle today, but c'mon son.

Not sure what I'm going to do for exercise tonight.  If the rain holds off I might cut the grass, if it doesn't I may just "work out" around the house since I didn't make it all the way through the cleaning routine yesterday.  There just aren't enough hours in the day.

Breakfast:  1 oz genoa salami, 1 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar cheese, coffee

Lunch:  3 eggs scrambled and cooked in butter with some onion and green pepper, Jimmy Dean sausage crumbles, 1 big slice Kraft sharp cheddar, coffee

Not tired of eggs, not tired of egg pictures
Dinner:  3 Johnsonville beef brats, grilled.  1 medium organic russet potato peeled, boiled and "mashed" with about 1/2T butter.

ZOMG TWO PICS in one day!

So I'm lazy and just fork-mashed the potatoes after taking this pic...
Snack:  1 bag Meijer Naturals double butter popcorn

Exercise:  None.  I chased around the house doing stuff for an hour plus after dinner but that doesn't really count.  It certainly wasn't anything dedicated.

A couple of random thoughts while I'm thinking of them:

Still no clue on what I'm going to do for exercise now that the days are getting shorter.  I guess I can always walk when the weather is decent (which is most of the time), not sure how excited I am to do that in the dark though.  Maybe I should try doing it at lunch.  Not likely though.

I should also go back to packing a snack for the golf course.  Jerky or peanuts would probably be better than a brat with bun or peanut butter crackers.  Cheaper too.

Speaking of cheaper, I really need to focus on reducing spending on food.  That means more eating at home and just plain eating less.  There has been some progress but not enough.

Breakfast Bowl

Sunday, September 16, 2012

Slept in just a bit, though I felt surprisingly good when my alarm went off at the usual time this morning.  It's so frustrating not knowing if I'm going to be awake or not when I wake up.  If that makes sense.

Breakfast:  2 eggs fried in a bit of butter, some Jimmy Dean sausage crumbles (maybe 1/4 C), a couple strips jarred organic roasted red pepper, 1 organic russet potato, mashed.  Coffee.

Homemade breakfast bowl, yum
This is such a good breakfast.  It works just fine with the potato boiled and mashed instead of fried.  Terrible picture though (LOL).  I added the red pepper on a whim for a bit of color and found that it really added a nice flavor.  It's a keeper.

Lunch:  Brat with bun, 1 package peanut butter crackers, 12 oz Miller Lite

Dinner:  3 Johnsonville beef brats with bun, a few Lays potato chips

Snack:  Chips with onion dip

Exercise:  18 holes with cart, a fair amount of extra walking.  Probably not as much as I would like.

Man I ate a lot of starch today.

Fall Saturday(s)

Saturday, September 15, 2012

Fall is wonderful.  It might not have as much of an edge over summer with me as it used to, but it's still great.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Snack:  1 package peanut butter crackers

Lunch:  Ham, bacon and swiss sandwich with chipotle mayo, fries, 2 x 12 oz Miller Lite

Snack:  Chips with onion dip

Dinner:  Deluxe pizza

Exercise:  18 holes with cart, some extra walking.  Not much else, though I did do my grocery shopping.  I mostly lounged about and watched football.

Small Rebound

Friday, September 14, 2012

Hoping for one anyway.  Yesterday was just miserable all around.  I felt lousy -- you know, sometimes you just feel "sick".  Lethargic.  Very, very tired.  Headachey.  Sinus issues.  All round lousy.  I should have just gone home for a couple hours in the morning and slept it off, but I tried to soldier through.  Tried drinking several cups of coffee at lunch to break through the fog.  Nothing worked.

Ultimately I even failed at efforts to just go to bed early.  I really need to kick all the electronics out of the bedroom and just sleep when I go in there.  That might be a project for this weekend.

Despite being woefully short on sleep again I do actually feel fairly decent so far today.  Better anyway.

Breakfast:  1 oz genoa salami, 1 "big slice" Kraft sharp cheddar, coffee

I bought the genoa instead of the hard salami this time for the heck of it.  I have no idea what the difference is, the ingredients list and counts are essentially the same.  Taste was good though, I might like it better.  Also, on the cheese front, I've been buying the packages of cheese labeled "Big Slice" (0.75 oz per slice) which is why they're listed as that, it's not as if they're all *that* huge.

Lunch:  Jimmy Johns #1, bag of salt & vinegar chips

Got stuck in the office so had lunch delivered.  It was OK, obviously would not have been my first choice.

Dinner:  1/2 deluxe pizza, salad with italian, ~ 24 oz Miller Lite

Snack:  1 bag Meijer Naturals extra butter popcorn

Exercise:  9 holes with cart, some extra walking

Definative

Thursday, September 13, 2012

Today's thought is to be more decisive.  Make those decisions, even if they're a little questionable.  Go.

Super tired, stayed up a bit too late last night waiting for something and then had a hard time dragging myself out of bed.  Maintaining the schedule I want is just going to be hard.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 slice jalapeno white cheddar, a couple sips of coffee

Lunch:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese and avacado; sausage; coffee

Lots of coffee.  Lots and lots of coffee.  Vain effort to try and be more alert.

Dinner:  Big pizza with ham and meatballs

After continuing to feel like crap all day I left work a little early, ran a couple errands and picked up a pizza.  I proceeded to eat it, lie down and waste many hours doing absolutely NOTHING.

Snack:  None.

Exercise:  Absolutely NONE.

Bye Bye Buffets

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

I will definitely be OK with golf league winding down.  I always eat too much afterward.  Stupid buffets, there are always multiple good things to eat and I'm all "hey I just paid eight bucks for this, let's eat".  Dumb.  Definitely uncomfortable after last night.

On the positive side, I went to bed shortly after getting home and managed to get up with only one snooze this morning.  I'm a little slow and I wasted a lot of time lazing about and watching the early news but I'm still more than an hour to the good.  I still really want to get this schedule locked in, won't be easy.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 slice jalapeno white cheddar, coffee

Lunch:  2 eggs fried in a little butter, mini tub cream cheese, a spoonful of jalapeno spread (diced jalapenos with bell pepper and onion), 4 Bob Evans microwave sausage patties;  coffee

Made and ate this in a hurry and it tasted better than it looked.  It would have been better if I had scrambled the eggs and used cheddar instead of cream cheese, but I hadn't exactly planned the details out ahead of time.  I would post a picture (I did take one) but it really wasn't attractive and how many pictures of eggs do you really want to see?

Dinner:  Taco salad with spicy pork, no shell or beans; hot sauce and salsa

Snack:  1 bag Meijer naturals extra butter popcorn

Curiously, the nutrition information on the extra butter says it has fewer grams of carb than the butter version.  10 more calories.  I honestly can't tell the difference.  If I continue to eat popcorn though I really should buy an air popper and just add my own butter.

Exercise:  None really.  Got home late.  Did go to Meijer after dinner for a few items but really didn't do much walking around.

Another New Post How Exciting

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

A routine of cleaning up yesterday's post and starting a new one during the morning at work seems to be settling in.  It's much easier to keep this up to date when you do it regularly -- that applies to so many things in life, doesn't it?  It's also easier to write more than a series of one line menu lists, not that I really have that much to say.

I tried to crash early last night.  The lights were off (and it was dark) before 9:00, but I just wasn't sleepy enough.  I think I'm going to pick up an air filtration machine for the bedroom to see if that helps keep the sinuses clear.  I should also clean the carpet and hunt around for spots that dust might be lurking.  I did manage to get to sleep shortly after 10:00 and do feel a bit more rested today but getting out of bed was again something of a struggle.

Incidentally, I weighed in this morning and I'm just a fraction of a pound over my low weight.  This is good.  Considering the wreck and ruin committed on the program this summer it's borderline miraculous.  Golf league is winding down so that'll be one less blowup per week (although I'll lose that guaranteed exercise).  Hmm.  Maybe I need to start planning to leave early on nice days this fall to get in a few holes before dark.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 slice jalapeno white cheddar, coffee

Lunch:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese and avacado; sausage; coffee

No pictures today, though I think I've posted a pic of this before.

Snack:  ~ 2 oz CF cajun beef jerky

Dinner:  Buffet with beef, chicken, mac & cheese with bacon, salad w/ italian, breadsticks.  3x12 oz Miller Lite

Ate way too much.  Always do.  Almost done for the year.

Exercise: 9 holes with cart, some extra walking.  A little sluggish.

Return To Standard

 Monday, September 10, 2012

Sluggish start this morning.  I never know how mornings are going to go -- they are usually a drag, of course, but it's unpredictable just how hard it will be to get out of bed.  Today was brutal.  I was definitely better off when my alarm first went off than when I finally got up.

Out of curiosity I checked craigslist the other day to see what a used CPAP machine costs.  I haven't been advised to use one -- I had a sleep study done years ago which came back okayish -- but I do wonder if it would help.  Fortunately they are expensive and coupled with my inherent reluctance to deal with anything medical it will remain nothing but idle curiosity  A new mattress, on the other hand, is something I can handle, assuming that I can ever put together the necessary funds that is.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 slice jalapeno white cheddar cheese, coffee

Lunch:  2 eggs fried in a little butter, 4 Bob Evans instant sausage patties, 5 strips Oscar Meyer instant bacon, coffee
Breakfast for lunch, featuring instant meats

The instant breakfast meats are certainly mediocre.  Hopefully I can be more consistent at eating lunch at home and can start cooking real versions of these sorts of things ahead.  Reheating can't be that bad.

Another project to do sometime is to see if I can rig my phone to auto-upload to some kind of usable album.  I thought I had it set to upload to google+, but since I never use g+ (and it doesn't seem to work consistently), it's pretty useless.  I think if it were less of a hassle - right now I email the pics to myself - I would probably post more pictures of what I eat.

Dinner:  2 Johnsonville beef brats, grilled.  Leftover homemade potato salad (a couple servings, at least there wasn't as much left as I thought).  12 oz Founders Red's Rye PA beer.

Snack:  1 bag Meijer naturals double butter popcorn

Exercise:  None, really.  I did putter around the house, did some vacuuming and picking up, but nothing that really amounted to much.

Pics Or Ban

Sunday, September 9, 2012

ZOMG a picture post!  Pictured below is breakfast.

If I had the time and remembered to do it, I'd love to do an experiment to find out which bloats me the most, wheat, corn or potatoes.  I would have guessed wheat, but potatoes might actually be the correct answer.  If so that would be too bad, because potatoes are delicious.

Breakfast:  Mashed russet potato with butter, 4 Bob Evans sausage patties, 2 eggs fried in butter.  Coffee.

ZOMG BREAKFAST
I was cooking potatoes for potato salad anyway so I made an extra and threw some sausage that needed eating and a couple eggs on top.  The sausage is meh (that's what I get for using instant sausage) and the eggs were just a shade overcooked, but it was still delicious.

Lunch:  Bratwurst with bun, mustard, onion; 1 package peanut butter crackers, 12 oz Miller Lite

Dinner:  3x ham and cheddar on potato roll sandwiches with a little "light butter".  ~ 2 oz potato chips.  2 good sized servings of homemade potato salad, a celery stick and couple cherry tomatoes.

Exercise:  18 holes with cart, quite a bit of extra walking (lots of energy)

Ate a bit too much at dinner and way too much starch in general today.  But that's a weekend for you.

Excessive Enjoyment

Saturday, September 8, 2012

Golf, good food, footbaw on the TV, life is good.  Not so good for the diet, but good.

Breakfast:  1 slice jalapeno white cheddar, coffee

Lunch:  2.5 pieces of sausage casserole, a few strawberries

Snack:  Chips and onion dip

Dinner:  Deluxe pizza

Exercise:  18 holes with cart.

Extreme Title

Friday, September 7, 2012

But no, no extreme title.  Nothing extreme to see here.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 slice jalapeno white cheddar, coffee

Lunch:  Western omelet, 2 slices homemade wheat toast w/ butter, coffee

Dinner:  Taco salad, no beans, no shell, spicy pork w/ salsa and hot sauce

Snack:  Chips and onion dip

Exercise:  None.  Did get my groceries, spent about 40 minutes walking around Meijer, but I don't really count that.

Forgetting Gum

Thursday, September 6, 2012

It occurs to me from time to time that to be 100% accurate I would need to include a few things that I've just been skipping.  The most relevant is chewing gum.  I don't go through a great deal, but have definitely chewed more lately since I do not care for coffee breath.  A couple sticks a day at 2g carb each (Extra sugar free spearmint) does add up to something.

I think I'll settle for being mostly accurate.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 slice jalapeno white cheddar, coffee

Lunch:  3 eggs scrambled w/ 1T butter, a little frozen onion and green pepper, 1 slice jalapeno white cheddar.  4 Bob Evans sausage patties.  Coffee

Dinner:  2 Johnsonville beef brats, 3 small red potatoes mashed with a little butter

Snack:  1 bag Meijer naturals double butter popcorn

Exercise:  About 6 holes with cart.

Every Post Must Have A Title

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

... including this one.  Just throwing it up there.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 "big slice" Kraft jalapeno white cheddar;  coffee

Lunch:  3 eggs scrambled, mini tub cream cheese, 100 cal pack guacamole, 4 slices Oscar Meyer thick precooked bacon;  coffee

Ghetto version of my favorite omelet.  Not as good but still not bad.  Texture is better with avacado chunks.

Dinner:  2 Johnsonville beef brats, 3 small red potatoes peeled and mashed with about 1T butter

Snack:  1 bag Meijer naturals double butter popcorn

Exercise:  9 holes with cart.  Zipped around in less than an hour, it gets dark too early.

Stock As In Standard

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

Pretty normal day other than the fact that it was screwy being the first day of the week.

Breakfast:  1 oz hard salami, 1 big slice Kraft jalapeno white cheddar cheese

Lunch:  3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese, avacado; sausage; coffee

Dinner:  Pizza buffet with a couple breadsticks, salad w/ ranch, 3 x 12 oz Miller Lite

Snack:  1 bag Meijer naturals double butter popcorn

Exercise:  9 holes with cart

It's probably for the best that golf league season is almost over.  Not only do I have several beers, they've had good buffets and I find myself eating too much (and the wrong stuff).  Willpower has NOT been very good.

Laboring But Not In That Way

Monday, September 3, 2012

Labor day.  I'm laboring to get back on track and stay there.

Breakfast:  2 McDonald's sausage burritos

Snack:  Brat with mustard, 1 package peanut butter crackers

Lunch:  Ham, bacon and swiss croissant with chipotle mayo, fries, 2x12 oz Miller Lite

Snack:  Chips with onion dip

Dinner:  A little broiled steak and salad with ranch

Exercise:  18 holes with cart, decent amount of extra walking.  Lots of energy.  Also hiked a lap around the mall and some more yet doing shopping so it definitely added up.

Busy cleaning house, figured I'd get caught up here as well.

Yeah, not good.  Need to get it together, probably won't be for another day or two.

File Under Idiot

Saturday, September 1, 2012

If I'd done things right, I would have gotten a ton accomplished at work this past week, especially Friday.  Instead, I'll be scrounging for time to get on top of some things.  Dummy.

Breakfast:  ~ 2 oz extra sharp cheddar cheese, coffee

Snack:  1 package peanut butter crackers

Lunch:  Ham bacon and swiss on croissant with chipotle mayo, a few fries, 2 x 12 oz Miller Lite

Snack:  chips and onion dip

Dinner:  2 double cheeseburgers, 2 small fries

Snack:  1 bag Meijer naturals extra butter popcorn, 2 x 12 oz Shiner Ruby Redbird beer

Exercise:  18 holes with cart

Got carried away with the snacking while watching football for a good chunk of the day.  Just another thing to watch.

September 1 Update and Goals

I would like to do something more elaborate here, but I'm busy.

Weight:  Lost 5 pounds.  Considering the up and down level of commitment, that's fine.  Not good enough, but exepcted.

Exercise:  Continues to go well.  Feeling good, getting in more and more walking.  Should be good for another month there I would think.

Other:  Not much progress on the work/life balance front.  This month's goal is to be more productive during regular work hours (M-F 8 to 6) so that I don't plan on leaving so much stuff for evening and weekend quiet time.  I need that time to take care of personal business!

September Goals:

1.  Lose 15 lbs.   Going to require better focus.

2.  Keep up the exercise.  Gets harder as the days get shorter.

3.  Like I said, be more productive during work hours.
