Again Enhanced

Tuesday, March 31, 2020

The last day of the longest month ever.  Goodbye March and good riddance.

I'm starting to question my scale.  Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to see it continue to drop regularly, but it makes little sense to me, I'm not "dieting".  And I've added beer and some other alcohol.  I'm not sure that the power of whatever it is (plus alcohol) will be able to overcome tonight's planned culinary experience, but who knows.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Lunch:  Grilled ham, egg and cheese sanwich on sourdough, Fage cherry TruBlend yogurt

Very tasty.  I bought a different kind of localish sourdough at the store yesterday since I'm almost through the loaf I have in my freezer.

Dinner:  Chili dog tater tot casserole, homemade buttermilk roll with butter, 36 oz Labatt Blue Citra

Had to test out one of the rolls I baked at lunch, turned out fine.  Needed bread to use in my experimental dinner...

Which turned out OK.  It wasn't life changing, but it wasn't bad.  We'll see about the leftovers.  I ate a third, maybe more, which was a lot.

Exercise:  Nope.  Still cold out there and lazy in here.  Supposed to start improving later this week, so hopefully I'll get off my butt and do something.

Topped For Now At Least

Monday, March 30, 2020

A relatively normal day.  Worked all day, had things to do.  Went to the grocery store after work.  Once again bought too much, though I did resist the temptation to buy yet another bag of flour.  I now have several things I must make because I bought the items to make them.  And I have to eat them because I have no room in fridge or freezer to speak of.

One of the last things I did last night was "install" the mattress topper I received yesterday.  I didn't expect much, it's 2" of memory foam, but it seemed to feel OK.  It'll probably take a few weeks to give it a fair evaluation.  One thing I did notice - even though I didn't really smell anything chemically I woke up this morning with signs of post nasal drip ... which is NOT something you want right now.  Yikes.  At least it cleared up and the light mucus and sore throat were obviously temporary.  Hopefully it's not a repeat issue -- I really want to be sure that I keep as many allergens out of the bedroom as possible.  Actually, note to self, I also have some memory foam pillows that were a relatively recent purchase, may need to ban those too if it looks like there may be an issue.  I haven't been really using those so no big deal if so.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Haven't had any cocoa butter in a while, though I have plenty in stock.   Dunno why.

Lunch:  Ham and cheese sandwich on sourdough with butter, jalapeno mustard.  Fage vanilla TruBlend yogurt

Decided to have my sandwich constructed this time.  It was quite good, though the addition of mustard made it messy.  Probably should have put that on the bread and just heavy buttered the other slice.  Live and learn and get less lazy.

Dinner:  4 ground beef tacos, mexican style, plus avocado and hot sauce.  36 oz Labatt Blue Citra.

Didn't get home until almost 7:00, by the time I put the groceries away I just wanted to eat.  I had planned to make sausage balls but just didn't have the pep.  Maybe tomorrow.

Let's see what this beer can do with the power of tacos.  It's not an IPA, more of an in between.

Exercise:  Nope.  I did spend an hour at the grocery store but just can't bring myself to count that.

This Must Be What It's Like To Live The Least Blogworthy Life

Sunday, March 29, 2020

Seriously, this is not going to be interesting.  Most of yesterday felt pretty normal, I stayed low key busy with laundry and some cleaning up and stuff, but by about 8:00 I was running out of those things and had read everything current on the internet.  I ended up watching an old Doors concert but it didn't help the onset of 'now what?' thoughts.

It'll probably be more of the same today.  I put off cooking projects to this morning so I'll work on those, plus the FedEx guy came super early with my mattress topper so I can wash the sheets and hopefully get the bed put back together for a test tonight.  Actually I'll have to see if I have to air out the topper for a day first.  Possible.

Anyway, nothing exciting going on.  At least two more full weeks of this too.  Probably longer.  Yikes.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Decided to save the bacon and add it to my lunch sandwich.

Lunch:  Bloody mary (pre-lunch), bacon, egg, cheese and avocado sandwich on sourdough, cherry Fage TruBlend yogurt

Excellent all around and quite satisfying.  I should be good until dinner.  Or happy hour.  I considered throwing the sandwich under the broiler for a minute to melt the cheese but decided not to bother.  Next time maybe.

Dinner:  Spicy beans with ham and bacon, 36 oz Founders All Day IPA

Today's batch.  Turned out quite good.  I may not be done for the day yet (and I haven't had that third beer yet either) but that's what you get for eating dinner at 5:00.  Staying home is rough.

Exercise:  Nope.  Once again stayed home and did very little.

IPA Freely

Saturday, March 28, 2020

Whew.  Glad to reach a weekend no matter what.  Today should have a pretty high level of normalcy -- doing laundry, cleaning up, that sort of thing.  If I stay away (some, not completely) from the internet it might even be a good day

Slept horribly last night.  Couldn't fall asleep for multiple reasons and never was comfortable physically for unknown reasons.  I'll be adding a mattress topper when it arrives -- whenever, it's not like it's a critical supply -- and giving that a test.  It may just be me.

Scale was kind again.  Just imagine if I was actually active.  Probably not happening today since it's been raining overnight and is currently pouring.  I just don't think I can do a trip to the store.  I'll have to go sometime since I'm down to single digit diet IPAs and you're darned right that I'm going to keep drinking them if I'm going to keep dropping.

Breakfast:   Coffee, 2 strips Kiolbasa hickory smoked bacon

Last weekend was so long ago that I completely forgot that I had opened a package of bacon.   Addressed that situation right away.  If I don't eat it all first I'll have a couple strips for tonight's pizza and a couple for tomorrow morning.  I also nearly forgot to take a photo.  Oops.

Lunch:  Bloody Mary (pre-lunch), egg sandwich with cheese and avocado, Fage 5% plain yogurt

I guess you could call it avocado toast, though that may cause me to fight you.  I wanted an egg sandwich and adding avocado sounded good so I did.  Only about half of one though, this avo was past its prime and not fully edible.  Quite tasty.

Dinner:  Pizza with  bacon, ham and mushroom, 36 oz Founders All Day IPA

Very tasty.  Ate more than pictured amount tho.  :(

Exercise:  Nope.  Didn't go more than 20 feet from my door.

Taco Power Turbo Boost

Friday, March 27, 2020

I laughed hard when I looked at the scale this morning.  I ate exactly the same thing two days in a row (ok, I added fire sauce yesterday).  I ate (and drank) things that I expected to result in bloating, not big drops.  I got drops.   Felt like I shed some water, no idea why.  But it was great to get back to pre-vacation levels without trying.

If IPAs and popcorn boost the power of tacos and I can have bacon double cheeseburgers for lunch I'm all about that.  Maybe I'll try eating exactly that for a whole week.  Maybe.

Honestly, I definitely think eating two meals a day makes a big difference.  Not snacking, keeping it confined to roughly an eight hour window (or less).

Breakfast:  Coffee

Lunch:  Marble corn bread scramble with diced potatoes and sour cream

Supporting a local restaurant.  They make such good food.  Real food, not heat and serve stuff.

Dinner:   Beef stew, 36 oz Founders All Day IPA, popcorn w butter and cheese

Decided to perk up the popcorn with some cheddar, good stuff.  Stew was from the freezer.  It was fine, though it could have used more time in the fridge, it was quite frozen.

Exercise:  Nope.  Weekend forecast looks dismal too, making it hard to get started.   I'd think about going and walking around Meijer or Walmart but that seems decidedly risky and unhealthy right now.

Engage Power

More of the same.  Take note.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Lunch:  Culvers bacon deluxe, minus mayo add mustard

Forgot to take a photo so here's one from Wednesday.  This time I ate in my car.

Dinner:  Tacos w cheddar, salsa verde, avocado and fire sauce, 36 oz Founders All Day IPA, popcorn

A remarkably terrible popcorn photo.

Exercise:  No.  Notably inactive.

It's Been How Many Days Already

Wednesday, March 25, 2020

Day two was just as weird as day one.  This is going to be challenging.  Starting happy hour at 4 may be a mini trend that needs quashing.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Lunch:  Culvers bacon deluxe minus mayo plus mustard

Good sandwich, lots of precautions obviously being taken.

Dinner:  Leftover tacos w cheddar jack, salsa verde and avocado, 36 oz Founders All Day IPA, popcorn (in cocount oil, with butter)

Solid dinner and I have stuff for one more taco night.  Oh and I did have popcorn last night.  No additional beers tho.

Exercise:  No.  This is getting pathetic.  I did walk to the post office but that's not far.

Fattening

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

It's going to be a challenge.  At least three weeks of this, probably longer.  Yeesh.

Big jump on the scale as the non-stop blowout of the last few days has finally settled in.  I'll have to pay more attention and spend less time in the vicinity of the fridge.

Breakfast:  Coffee

I ordered some additional supplies of cocoa butter and they arrived today but I didn't bother this morning.  Just black coffee.

Lunch:  Leftover pizza

Gave away a slice so I only had 3/4 as much as usual.  Dieting.  Somehow I managed to forget to take a picture, but I've posted plenty.

Dinner:  Homemade tacos with cheddar jack cheese, avocado, salsa verde, 36 oz Bells Light Hearted

I'm a lightweight only when it comes to drinking.  Thank goodness for food.  Good food even.  Went with 4 of the bigger tortillas instead of 3, I wasn't up to doing math.

Probably going to have some popcorn too, not sure if I'll cut off the beer now.

Exercise:  Nope.

It's Here. It's Really Here.

Monday, March 23, 2020

I've had The Clash's "Clampdown" in my head for days as I waited for the inevitable stay at home order.  Which arrived today.  FML.

The next three weeks are going to suck.

Breakfast:  TB sausage crunchwrap, coffee

Lunch:  Meatball sub, italian beef

Overdid it.

Dinner:  CFA spicy sandwich x2, mac and cheese, frosted lemonade.  Also mint oreos and milk

Exercise:  Nope.

Nonstarter

Sunday, March 22, 2020

I'm far from the only one, I'm sure, that feels stuck in limbo.  It will be interesting to see how it affects me and others.  This morning, it was a kind of apathy.  I woke up at 5:30 and then lingered in a state of barely awakedness in the recliner until after 9:00.  I could have gotten up at any time, but couldn't/didn't muster that tiny bit of energy to get up and get moving.

We'll see if I accomplish anything today.  Anything at all.

Breakfast:  Leftover oatcakes with butter, 4 strips Kiolbasa hickory bacon, coffee

Heating the oatcakes from frozen definitely takes a while.  Longer than the bacon.  Note to self, put them in right away.

Lunch:  Leftover pizza

Good as always

Dinner:  Ham and salami sub, garlic cheese bread w pizza sauce.  Mint Oreos w a glass of milk

Maybe going to the grocery store wasn't such a good idea.  I mostly bought booze.

Exercise:  Nope.

On Watch

Saturday, March 21, 2020

"Life" goes on.  I have to admit, I've been pretty out of sorts all week.  Dwelling on how bad things will get for me personally (known) and for the country (unknown) is not healthy.  I need to try to do better and a weekend at home should help.

Unsurprisingly I was quite bloated after yesterday's blowout.  Yugh.

Breakfast:  Oatcakes with butter, 3 strips Kiolbasa hickory smoked bacon, coffee

At least I remembered to soak the oats last night.  Delicious as always.  Bacon was a new variety to me, I usually don't prefer hickory or crispy bacon but this was good.

Lunch:  Ham n bacon n beans, slice of sourdough with butter.  Later:  24 oz Yuengling

Freezer stuff that I had thawed for lunch yesterday before YOLOing it.  First staycation beer, I have a decent but not huge supply.

Dinner:  Homemade pizza, ham bacon and mushroom

Excellent.  Ate too much, today was def a fattening day.

Exercise:  Nope.  Stayed home, stayed inside.

Friday, March 20, 2020

The end of a most unreal week.  No focus.  Looking forward to a weekend of staying at home which should mean better eating though it may involve drinking.

Breakfast:  TB sausage cruchwrap, coffee

Lunch:  CFA spicy chicken sandwich x2, mac and cheese

Dinner:  Bacon cheeseburger pizza

Exercise:  LOL no

Curiouser

Thursday, March 19, 2020

Strange days.  Have I said that?  If so I mean it with extra authority this time.  Just bizarre.

Woke up at 4:30 this morning and instantly knew I wasn't going to get back to sleep.  So I hit the grocery store at 6 -- it was busy but they had a dozen or so packages of toilet paper.  Got some blood drawn -- that place was unusually empty.  Got breakfast and to work early.  Not that it mattered.  There isn't much going on.

In possibly related news, I was hungry today.  So I ate.  Stress ate?

Breakfast:  Marble cornbread scramble, diced redskins, coffee, bite of a cinnamon roll w icing

Since I got up so early I had breakfast.  Takeout from a local place, figured I get it while I can.  It was glorious.

Lunch:  2 slices extra sharp cheddar, homemade roll with butter, Dannon Just 3 raspberry yogurt

Cut back a shade since I wasn't super hungry.  The yogurt was a one off, I thought I had a freebie coupon but it must have expired the day before I got it.  It was fine, but I prefer the greek yogurt and it really didn't need the sugar.

Dinner:  Leftover pizza.  I might have a Light Hearted IPA too later.

One of the best pizzas I've made.  Just exquisite.  Didn't suffer a bit from being frozen.

Exercise:  Nope.  No excuses, just lazy af.

Virus Watch

Wednesday, March 18, 2020

Things continue to slow down as the world deals with the coronavirus.

On the home front, let some water go this morning and it feels like things are getting back on track, though seeing lots of pics of tasty takeout in my Facebook feed definitely fired up the hunger this morning.   Not hard to resist though.

I never did a vacation wrapup post, other than posting food logs.  So a couple things -- first, I was extremely pleased by how I held up physically, despite not getting into a solid walking routine.  Losing what I have was very, very helpful and I never got too tired, too winded or too beat up.  I was also less stiff afterward, which was a surprise.  I didn't sleep particularly well due to soft mattresses, but apparently it was sufficient.  Overall very very pleased on the physical front.  I just needed to eat better but I'm not going to sweat it.

Breakfast:  Coffee with cocoa butter

Just had one w/ cb.  I'm not quite running low but I probably only have a few weeks worth left in my bag and it feels weird to be ordering non-essential stuff from Amazon so I'll probably wait a bit.

Lunch:  OM naturals roast beef, 2 slices extra sharp cheddar, homemade rolls with butter, Fage cherry TruBlend yogurt

Standard.

Dinner:  Duke's hot and spicy shorty sausages, leftover pizza

Got a little carried away with the snack sticks.  Pizza was excellent.  I am quite full.

Exercise:  Nope.  C'mon man.

Kinda Ravenous

Tuesday, March 17, 2020

Interesting times roll on.

Nothing so exciting on the personal front.  My body is fighting me on getting back into a good food routine, I was hungry this morning though that went away pretty quickly.  And I wanted to eat right when I got home -- that old thing -- so I compromised and ate something.   So it goes.

Breakfast:  Coffee with cocoa butter

Lunch:  OM naturals roast beef, 2 slices extra sharp cheddar, homemade rolls with butter, Fage cherry TruBlend yogurt

Standard.

Dinner:  Asiago/pepperjack Whisps, leftover homemade pizza from the freezer

We'll see if I want beer or nah.

Exercise:  Nope.

Accurate Projection

Monday, March 16, 2020

A moment of levity this morning as I accurately predicted, down to the tenth of a pound (okay, fine, my scale is in 2/10ths increments), what I'd weigh this morning.  I usually have no idea if it'll be up or down but coming off vacation I had great confidence it would be up.  And it was.  So be it.  I suspect much of it will vanish quickly, though I will say I was kinda tempted today.

Breakfast:  Coffee.  No time to add cocoa butter.

Lunch:  Jimmy Johns east coast italian, minus mayo, add mustard, peppers and pickles.  Dill pickle.

Quite good, I think I liked it better with mustard than when I'd gotten it with mayo.

Dinner:  4 tacos mexican style, hot sauce and avocado.

The usual.  Going to be takeout only for a while due to the stupid coronavirus.

Exercise:  Nope.   Need to change that.

Slow Motion Vacation Blowout

Sunday, March 15, 2020

Whew.  Quite a mini-vacation.   The slow motion trainwreck pairs nicely with the slow motion pandemic disaster.   Back on the horse tomorrow.  I'll be super interested to see the damage.

Breakfast:  2 McD Egg McMuffins, coffee

Lunch:  Some cheddar cheese Combos, coffee

No photo, consumed while driving.

Dinner:   Deluxe pizza plus jalapenos, Girl Scout caramel de-lites

Cookies not pictured.  Serious binge meal.

Exercise:  Nope, travel day.

Saturday, March 14, 2020

Breakfast:  Works omelet, bacon, 2 biscuits with strawberry jam, coffee

Lunch:  Spanish peanuts, cheddar cheese combos, 48 oz Yuengling

Dinner:  10 oz chopped steak w mushroom onion and bacon, baked potato w sour cream, blackberry cobbler with ice cream

Didn't eat the "butter", it was spread.  Also only ate half a spoonful of the beans, they weren't good.

Yeah, sugar bomb.  Pretty good though.  Incidentally, I had two beers in the afternoon and two after dinner.

Exercise:  12 holes with cart, cart path only

Lots of walking, lots of billy goating.

Friday, March 13, 2020

Breakfast:  Works omelet, 1 sausage patty, 2 biscuits w strawberry jelly, coffee

I didn't ask for and did not eat the potatoes or toast.

Lunch:  Jack Links beef stick, spanish peanuts, 36 oz Yuengling

Dinner:  Club sandwich, pinto beans

I didn't eat the bread.  No mayo.  Pretty decent really.

Also:  1 girl scout cookies, caramel delites

Exercise:  27 holes with cart, cart path only.  Wish I'd brought my pedometer.  One of the other guys was at 18,000 steps, none of them on flat ground.

Thursday, March 12, 2020

Breakfast:  Cracker Barrel double meat breakfast, coffee

Only ate one biscuit and half the gravy.  I was full.

Lunch:  Meijer hot & spicy peanuts, 24 oz Yuengling

Dinner:  Corned beef reuben sandwich (no dressing), pickles, baked potato w sour cream and butter, 2 girl scout cookies, caramel delites

Not bad.

Exercise:  18 holes with cart.
