Whew. Limped home to the conclusion of the week. Not that I got all much accomplished or that it was that hard, I just didn't have much juice.
My stomach was less than enthused by last night's dinner experiment. I don't think I'll be buying that again.
Breakfast: Container of Fage 5% plain yogurt, coffee
Lunch: Omelet with cheese, onion and extra sausage
Dinner: Rye-parmesan crust pizza with pepperoni
A little more generous than last week, and it turns out not quite as good. Still tasty though.
Exercise: Nope

The Season
Thursday, August 30, 2018
Wow, August is almost over. Football season is here.
Breakfast: Container of Fage 5% plain yogurt, coffee
Lunch: Wendy's baconator, no bun
Hard to turn down a half price baconator. Good sandwich, could have specified no mayo/ketchup.
Dinner: CF corned beef hash, 1 egg fried in butter
Bought a package of this a while back and finally cooked it up. It was ... different. Wildly overseasoned (my fault, I didn't taste test adequately) and much meatier than most CBH. Dunno if I'd get it again.
Exercise: Nope. Did sleep a little better last night, still dragging though.

Unexpected Satiety
Wednesday, August 29, 2018
Continuing onward. Had an unusual moment at lunch today. I had finished most of my omelet and patties and I was ... full? This is not normal for me, obviously a reason why I'm fat. It was a nice feeling. Of course I'm a dumbass and ate the last few bites, I still have to work on letting go of the old children-are-starving-in-Africa-so-clean-your-plate mentality. But fullness is a happy thing.
In hindsight I was feeling some of that last night too. This is such a good thing. And if I can keep the planned bumps to mostly Tuesday night (at least for a couple more weeks), Friday night and Sunday night that would be swell.
Breakfast: Coffee
Lab work this morning so no breakfast.
Lunch: 3 egg omelet with bacon, cream cheese and avocado, 2 sausage patties
Standard stuff. It's on the expensive side -- five bucks more than the other place -- but will still be a regular feature in the rotation I think.
Dinner: Spicy beans, Meijer taco cheese, salsa, sour cream
That's a lot of beans. Cleaned out the fridge a bit with the other stuff. Did decide to chuck the rest of the leftover rice, so that's a small step away from kidsinAfricaitis.
Exercise: Nope. Weakness is a little more sporadic, which is a positive, but I don't like the feeling when it's there. Did not get enough sleep last night which does not help.

Steam Bath, Extra Steam
Monday, August 27, 2018
After a hot, humid day and some overnight thunder it's going to be another steam bath this afternoon. I'm almost -- almost -- pleased that it's a work day where I can spend most of it inside in the air conditioning.
Tolerated last nights overindulgence pretty well. Slept decently, got rid of the waste, felt okay when I got up this morning. Feet weren't bad either after weekend golf. But now at mid-morning the weakness is present. May need to try laying off the coffee, see if that helps. Edit: I'm pretty sure it's not the coffee, but I'm concerned about what it could be.
Breakfast: 2 oz CF cajun beef jerky, coffee
I could take pictures, sure, but it hardly seems worthwhile. Oh, and I spilled coffee on myself. It's definitely Monday.
Lunch: Omelet with onion, cheese and extra sausage
Delivered again. Going to be a thing.
Dinner: Bigass leftover burrito bowl -- same as Saturday plus a scoop of spicy beans
I dunno why this seemed so much bigger tonight. Just added a few beans, maybe a tiny amount more rice. Didn't get carried away with either. Anyway, I'm stuffed.
Exercise: Nope. Slept okay, needed every bit of it. Feet felt decent this morning. I need to take some baby steps here in hopes that it will help the weakness.

Season
Sunday, August 26, 2018
Glad to have one more weekend day and looking forward to a holiday weekend.
Breakfast: 2 eggs over medium in butter, Alexia hash browns in butter, many strips of bacon, coffee
Hash browns were much more done than usual but were fine. Used a bigger skillet, made quite the difference.
Lunch: Single serve package of Planters salted cashews
Snack in between nines. Didn't need a regular lunch due to lateness of breakfast.
Dinner: Logan's Roadhouse. 12 oz sirloin, mashed potatoes with gravy, mushroom skewer, a yeast roll with butter, peanuts, 22 oz Miller Lite
Excessive. Definitely excessive. And I'm so not good at declining stuff when I'm with company. I'm stuffed, my gut is rumbling a bit and I'm looking forward to crashing hard.
Exercise: 18 holes with cart. Brutally humid.

Temped
Saturday, August 25, 2018
Weekends are full of temptation. Sometimes I pass the test, sometimes I fail.
Breakfast: 2 eggs over medium+, 3 strips bacon, hash browns, 2 slices raisin toast, coffee
Had breakfast out with golf crowd, short on time and the place was short staffed. I went with the quick order, i.e. same as the rest. Considered eating only one slice of toast (or neither) but failed.
Lunch: 12 oz Miller Lite, container of Fage 5% plain greek yogurt
Post golf beer and yogurt when I got home. I thought about having something more substantial but I'm going to have a big mexi-bowl for dinner so I think I'll skip it.
Dinner: Homemade burrito bowl. Vigo cilantro-lime rice, ~ 8 oz CF ground sirloin w Ortega hot and spicy taco seasoning, cheese, sour cream, Herdez salsa, 1 large avocado
This was huge, very heavy and tasty. Will eat again (duh, I have leftovers). It's not ideal - for one I need to make my own taco seasoning, for another it has rice - but delicious.
Will be having a drink too, shot of Templeton Rye with ice and water.
Exercise: 18 holes with cart
Felt about as good as I have lately for the first nine, got in a bunch of extra walking. The last few holes my heels started hurting and the weakness set in, but all in all a pretty good day. I'm hoping that I'll continue to feel incrementally better.

Yeah I Am Weird
Friday, August 24, 2018
A long week drags to a close.
I couldn't decide what to have for dinner tonight. Gave much consideration to going Qdoba yet again. Ultimately decided I could tide myself over long enough to make a homemade pizza. Decided to make it with rye flour for no obvious reason. Like I said, I'm weird.
Breakfast: Coffee
Late again. I could have had something later but no big deal.
Lunch: Omelet with cheese, onion and extra sausage
Delivered. This might become a regular thing.
Dinner: 1 large avocado; Rye/parmesan homemade pizza with pepperoni
Lots of calories, lots of fat. A long ways from just meat, but hey it's Friday night. Crust was about 1/3C parmesan, about 1/3C rye flour, a couple tablespoons of butter, baking powder, salt, water and italian seasoning. Slightly reminiscent of a ry krisp just not quite as crispy and no sesame seeds. Which would actually be a nice addition. Hmm, I wonder if I have any.
Exercise: Nope. Not too peppy.

No wifi at home this week as a result of the disaster. I could post these by phone but have been too lazy.
Breakfast: Coffee
Another day of being too late to really eat. It's been an insanely busy week and I have gotten out and out the door just barely in time. No morning breaks. Fortunately I haven't been too hungry.
Lunch: 3 egg omelet w bacon cream cheese and avocado, 2 sausage patties
Dependably good.
Dinner: Qdoba brisket bowl, same as previous
Not quite as good as the last one, but still good.
Exercise: Nope.

They actually listened and kept the beans and rice to a minimum. Very tasty. Not ideal, but tasty.

Sunday, August 19, 2018
Woke up to a disaster. Spent most of the day dealing with it. This was not the plan.
At least it happened on a weekend and I didn't have to take off work. Thank goodness for small favors.
Breakfast: Corned beef hash, 2 eggs over medium, coffee.
At least I could say hold the toast.
Lunch: Wendy's double with cheese, no bun.
Forgot to ask for minus ketchup.
Snack: Container of Fage 5% plain whole milk yogurt.
Dinner: 3 slices of pizza hut hand tossed w ham beef mushroom, breadsticks and sauce
Didn't fight it too hard. Did veto the alternative of having spaghetti. Sunday dinners will always be a problem. I did manage to resist the very real temptation to turn it into a complete blowout.

Crossed Purpose
Saturday, August 18, 2018
Well, it was a good plan. Go to bed early, get a good night's sleep, sleep in, try to be 100% rested for once. I executed the first part, rolling into bed about 9:30. But I could not get to sleep. It was probably midnight before that happened. Got up at 3, laid back down, gave up at 6:30. Probably managed four hours. Pathetic. Did feel less foggy than usual this morning and not notably fatigued, but I'll probably be pretty wiped later.
No golf this morning so I have time to do some other things. I should work all day both days but it's not going to happen. As long as I squeeze in some it will be OK.
One thing about going through the archive it hits me how much I miss that taco salad from the local place. It was just the perfect dinner - pop in, consume, 9 bucks, gone. I now live a block from a mexican place but their taco salad has way too much rice.
Breakfast: 2 CF eggs over medium in a pat of kerrygold butter, 6 strips Wright thick cut applewood bacon, 1 big ass avocado, coffee
Man that was an enormous avocado. I would have been happy with half but I've never been happy with stored avo and I do like the stuff. I bought several for this week since they were on sale. I prefer the smaller ones but you can't argue with 88 cents.
Lunch: 1 container (7 oz) Fage 5% whole milk plain yogurt, a bowl of homemade vegetable beef soup
The soup took so long that I needed a yogurt. And it stil should have simmered longer.
Dinner: Hamburger patty, some brat and kielbasa sections
No photo. Summer party, was worried that I wouldn't be able to eat or would get a hard time about not eating the desserts etc. Fortunately there was plenty of meat and nobody cared what I ate. Ate a lot. I'll have to look up the burger recipe - I don't think it was 100% ground chuck. Just drank sparkling water.
Drink: Splash of Templeton rye whiskey on the rocks with orange sparkling water
Exercise: Not yet. Unlike most days lately I do think I could have forced myself out of bed for a walk and my feet would have allowed it. Feeling quite positive about that.

Whooshhhh
Friday, August 17, 2018
It's always entertaining the week you sharply reduce your carb intake to see just how much extra liquid the body retains when you eat like crap. It's somewhat less entertaining to have to get up in the middle of the night, but that's a price I'm willing to pay.
Spent an hour or so last evening reading back through some of the more successful periods (and skimming over those that were not so much) in the history of this blog. It was enjoyable to flash back to a time where I weighed less, walked regularly and was pretty optimistic. Not sure it's related but afterward I even had a burst of energy and did some cleaning and dishes. Good times.
Breakfast: 2 oz CF cajun beef jerky, coffee
I must have had less than half the package yesterday because this sure seemed like a lot. It also wasn't as enjoyable as usual. I think I'm going to have to work in some of the other standbys, salami, cheese, yogurt, that sort of thing.
Lunch: 8 oz CF spicy beef bacon
About as easy at it gets.
Dinner: Spicy beans with some Meijer shredded taco cheese
After reading the archives I really wanted some spicy beans. Thankfully I had one in the freezer that I could pull out for tonight. Threw some cheese on there to try and bump the fat content.
We'll see how the body reacts to this after three days of mostly meat.
Edit: Add a drink. A splash (certainly no more than a shot) of Templeton rye whiskey on ice, ultimately consumed with a can of Ice Mountain orange sparkling water. Not bad at all and produced a nice half hour glow.
Exercise: Nope, not yet.

Fat-ee-gueh
Thursday, August 16, 2018
Pretty solid start I guess. I suspect that I'm not eating enough, actually. I'll have to give some thought as to what else to eat. Tired this evening, it was like I switched off. We'll see if dinner perks me up. May end up having a drink and going to bed early. I had plans to make some soup tonight but I think it's going to wait until tomorrow.
Breakfast: 2 oz CF cajun jerky, coffee
Lunch: 8 oz CF spicy beef bacon
At least I got one package of the good stuff my last trip to the farm. I definitely like this kind better than the black pepper and garlic variety.
Dinner: Culver's bacon double deluxe plus mustard (no bun)
Since I ate this at home I could eat the toppings without worrying about making a mess.
Also: ~ 2 oz Meijer double cheddar cheese
Still hungry, so I ate this. I would have had an avocado, but the ones I bought yesterday aren't properly ripe yet. Pretty sated now.
Exercise: Nope, not yet.

I Guess It Has To Be Today
Wednesday, August 15, 2018
I have been wondering of late whether I'm in the end stages. I don't know that I've ever really felt that way before, outside of having a blood clot. I've just been moving slower and slower, tired all the time, fat and in pain. Dramatic worsening of the plantar fascitiis has not helped. At least I have had some relief from that the past two weeks due to acquisition of some compression foot sleeves. I checked my weight this morning and I don't think I can trust my scale, while the number is high it was actually five pounds lower than the last time I weighed a couple weeks ago.
So anyway, I'm at a point where I have to do something. While I dread going to work and there isn't a lot of joy right now I'm not ready to give up. There are still things I want to do. So here we go again.
Breakfast: 4 strips CF beef bacon, coffee
Very late breakfast as I'm taking a few hours off this morning. This is a bit less than half of a one pound package and it's black pepper/garlic instead of the hot and spicy variety I like so much.
Lunch: ~ 2 oz CF cajun beef jerky
Ate earlier than anticipated but wasn't hungry all afternoon which is good.
Dinner: Wendy's double with cheese, no ketchup. Didn't eat the bun, also didn't eat most of the toppings.
That's how it goes, eating around the bun means you don't eat much except the meat and cheese.
I did manage to make it to the store and buy a few things, so I'll be able to do a little cooking soon.
Exercise: Not today.

That's how it goes, eating around the bun means you don't eat much except the meat and cheese.
I did manage to make it to the store and buy a few things, so I'll be able to do a little cooking soon.
Exercise: Not today.
