Tired, You Can Book It

Tuesday, April 30, 2019

Quite tired today.  My own fault, I stayed up way too late.  Read two books last evening which meant I crashed finally about 1:30.  Ugggh.  Why do I do stupid things.

Just now realized that it's the last day of the month.  Guess I should have been more motivated to eat better today.  Oops.

Breakfast:  Cottage cheese.  Coffee (later).

No picture today.  Same as yesterday.

Lumch:  Jimmy Johns Gargantuan unwich, add pickles and peppers

While this wasn't bad, I probably won't get it again soon.  Kinda messy, not the easiest thing to eat and I wasn't super impressed with how it stuck.  Oh, and it was expensive, too.

Dinner:  2 Arby's greek gyros minus the pitas, pork rinds

I was very hungry when I left work and was worried that I wouldn't have anything satisfying at home, so I went to Arbys.  It only hit me as I was getting ready to eat that the real issue was that I was dehydrated.  Didn't have much water today, only a few oz.  I usually have at least 20 during the day.  Two big glasses later I felt much more in control.

I still ate way too many pork rinds.  Doh.

Exercise:  Nope.  Another miserable day, plus tired.  So tired.

No Sir I Would Not Choose That Sanction

Monday, April 29, 2019

I expected to see a consequence on the scale for the weekend, particularly last night's chip and dip binge.  And I did, though I highly suspect the penalty will be temporary and just retained water.

On the other hand I did not expect to wake up multiple times with nasty leg cramps.  I've had on and off bouts of those over the last fifteen years but it had been a while and I certainly hadn't had any this ferocious in a long time.  I've read a fair amount about them and while there is a bunch of folk 'wisdom' out there it doesn't really seem that there is a lot of settled science.  I have been avoiding wine for quite a while after seeing a link between nights I had some and cramps but apparently it's not just sulfites.

Anyway, let's hope that doesn't repeat, it's hard to sleep!  I know I grumble a little about having to get up to go to the bathroom but apparently I shouldn't.

Breakfast:  Cottage cheese, coffee (later)

Quick and easy, which is important when you've got early business.  I did take the fifteen seconds required to take a photo ... just not the time to make sure it was a *good* photo.

Lunch:  Wendy's Dave's double, plain, no bun

Wasn't feeling super decisive, went with easy.  Lost a bunch of the cheese to the bun of course.

Dinner:  4 mexican style tacos plus cheese and hot sauce.  Also a handful of potato chips to clean up last night's binge

Really good tacos tonight.  Looked forward to them all afternoon, too.

Exercise:  Nope.  Multiple factors working against me today.  The cramps killed any hope of a good night's sleep.  The early work obligation meant I had to be out the door earlier than usual.  And it's raining.  Yuck.  Too bad, really, because I was definitely thinking a lot about how good walking is for me over the weekend.  The weather forecast for the week is pretty dismal, too.

Sunday Workday

Sunday, April 28, 2019

Thinking positive last night, somehow despite eating like a maniac for much of the last four months I'm not any heavier than I was a the start of the year.  Of course I was tremendously bloated at the start of the year, but at least anything gained subsequently was in the form of water and could be flushed.

Read back through some of the older archives and it was really interesting to me to remember how easy it was to eat the same thing nearly every day once I found things I really like.  I can't duplicate what I did -- the mexican place is long gone and my work has changed enough that I don't consistently have time for a sit down lunch.

Breakfast:  3 strips thick cut bacon, coffee

Count worked out perfectly, easy peasy too.

Lunch:  Spicy bacon beans with a couple ounces of leftover ribeye, cheddar jack cheese

Very tasty.  In hindsight I should have added all of the leftover steak.

Dinner:  A small portion of american ghoulash, extra ground beef, parmesan cheese, iceberg salad

Not too bad, but...

Snacks:  Cleaned up the pork rinds.  Also chips and onion dip after dinner.

Seriously?  I just needed to eat more protein and fat at dinner.

Exercise:  Nope.  Active but not super active and nothing that fits.

Ahhhh with Many Repeats of H

Saturday, April 27, 2019

Yes indeed.  Grateful for the weekend and fine that it's on the chilly side - I'd like to play golf but I could really use the day to just do stuff.  Off to a fine start so far, hit Meijer and the farm.

I do think that pizza night on weeks that I make it at home -- hopefully most -- is going to move from the traditional Friday to Saturday.  I just don't like waiting and it takes a while to do it right.

Breakfast:  3 strips thick cut bacon, coffee

Baked up the rest of the bacon package I opened yesterday since it was past its "expiration" date, figure I'll use a couple slices for lunch and eat the rest tomorrow.

Lunch:  Homemade pizza with pepperoni and bacon

So good.  72 hour dough from the freezer that I made a while ago, sauce kicked up with garlic and red pepper, a sprinkle of parmesan, pepperoni, 2 slices of bacon and mozz/provolone blend.  About a zillion calories and many carbs but don't care.  Not that much anyway.

Dinner:  ~ 7 oz of a CF ribeye, cooked sous vide and finished in a bit of avocado oil, a few sauteed mushrooms and a tiny onion (butter, evoo and a splash of worciester sauce at the end).  A little Kumho avocado sauce.

Despite the photo -- this was really, really good.  I got a nice thick ribeye, just over a pound.  I'll have some left for tomorrow and Monday's lunches.  Picked up the sauce at the store and tried a little bit with a few bites of steak, pretty tasty. Will try it with a homemade taco salad soon.

Exercise:  Nope.  Actually getting close to feeling ready, which is nice.  Now if I can just get a good night's sleep and feel good in the morning.

Fried Day

Friday, April 26, 2019

Thank goodness for the end of the week.  A chance to rest, recharge and restock.  Which is pathetic since I didn't work particularly hard or anything.  No major stress.  Just a dietary change.  Weak.

Breakfast:  Coffee

A bit of a late start so I didn't scrounge anything up to eat.  I definitely need to have quick things on hand because I have zero patience in the morning, I want to get out the door.

Lunch:  Taco salad, no shell.  Extra sour cream, a little salsa.

From a local dive.  Not a bad salad, did have beans but no rice.

Snack:  Yoder's pork rinds

Occasionally these sound good.

Dinner:  2 eggs in butter, 5 strips thick applewood bacon, some Alexia hash browns in butter

The GOAT, though this wasn't my best effort.  Went very easy on the hash browns which resulted in them being quite crispy.  Oh well, still good.

Exercise:  Nope.

De-Gallonizing

Thursday, April 25, 2019

The water continues to depart.  It would be nice though if not so much of it left at 5 am.

After feeling a bit of a burst at the end of day 2 and into day 3 I'm back closer to normal.  Not much energy, bouts of fatigue.  Still a marked improvement though.  I was in bed for extra time last night but don't think I got much quality sleep.

Breakfast:  Cottage cheese, coffee (later)

The end of the carton.  I don't always love the stuff but there are times when I do.

Lunch:  2 Culvers double deluxes, no bun

Thank goodness for coupons.  My lunch cost a couple bucks less than my coworker who just got one burger and fries.

Dinner:  3 eggs with kielbasa and lots of cheddar jack cheese

Cleaned up the kielbasa.  This was edible.  I also threw in a bit of dehydrated onion.

Exercise:  Nope.  Not yet.

Steadyish State

Wednesday, April 24, 2019

Last night's dinner provided a nice stable level of energy well into the evening.  No post-dinner crash.  Felt pretty decent.  The downside was I did not get to bed until after 11:00 which will screw up my schedule for the rest of the week.

Breakfast:  Cottage cheese, coffee (later)

Lunch:  Qdoba brisket bowl, same as last time

My usual location.  They have started charging for guacamole so the cost spiked.  Sigh.

Dinner:  Kielbasa with yellow mustard, some mushrooms sauteed in butter, chicken bone broth (later)

That was too much kielbasa.  And I have some left for tonight.  The mushrooms were meh, probably needed to be cooked longer.  Oh well, that's what happens when you cobble together a meal based on whatever happens to be handy.

Exercise:  Nope.

Day Two Less Flu

Tuesday, April 23, 2019

Awful night of sleep.  Went to bed early, didn't fall asleep super quick.  And then I woke up constantly from 3:00 on.  Light headache, never super comfortable.  At least I cleared out much water.

On the positive side I have definitely felt better today.  Not great or anything, but better.  More food plus some coffee plus some of the bad stuff getting flushed is working.  Sugar is evil.

Breakfast:  Cottage cheese

I didn't measure or anything.  Had probably a third of a 2 cup container of Daisy.  I bought it because it was on sale and I'm glad I did.

Lunch:  McDouble, plain, no bun, coffee

Late morning stop for coffee, had some food too.  There isn't a ton of beef to a McDouble, but it is easy to eat - with one slice of cheese between the patties it doesn't stick to the bun.

Late Lunch:  Wendy's double, plain, no bun.  Also had a cup of coffee at work.

Decided to make sure I'm eating enough.  I think it was a good idea.

Dinner:  2 eggs, 7 oz Spam, 1 large avocado, can of Alta Palla sparking water

Spam scramble.  Small can, not the big honking one but this was a shade on the side of too much.  It wasn't bad.  And I continue to feel notably better here late in the day.  This is a good thing.

Exercise:  Nope.  Though it is nice to at least be able contemplate the possibility.

This Would Be An Ease In But

Monday, April 22, 2019

Yeesh.  I haven't had the keto flu much in previous trips to the low carb world.  Today I feel like 100% garbage, which I blame on having relapsed into drinking soda and also not having had any coffee today.  No sugar and no caffeine equals yikes.

Breakfast:  Chicken bone broth

I have a couple of boxes of Sams Choice organic so that's what I'll be consuming.  I think the lower salt version is actually better.

Lunch:  Qdoba brisket bowl

First in a while.  Went pintos, brisket, cheese, sour cream, hot salsa, guacamole and jalapeno.  Pretty skimpy but it wasn't my usual location.  I should have sprung for extra meat though the price was already higher than it used to be.

Dinner:  4 mexican style tacos, add cheese.  Hot sauce.

Better than average.  Price also went up on these but oh well.  Felt better after eating them (yeah carbs) and actually got a few things done.

Exercise:  Nope.  Not a chance on day 1.

About ****ing Time

Sunday, April 21, 2019

Happy Easter.

It's time.  Really time.  Vacation season is over.  The corresponding crush of work season is done. I'm so fat it's interfering with my golf game.  It's ****ing time.

Tomorrow.

Because nobody starts on a holiday.  At least nobody with any sense.
