Let's Dispose Of That

Monday, January 31, 2022

No way to describe yesterday other than as an eatin' day.  Ate too much too often.  And did I mention too much?  Yeesh.  Oh well, disposal activities got under way last night and have continued today, I expect to undo the damage posthaste.  Didn't even gain quite as much as I expected.  Still, it might be time to make weekends look a lot more like weekdays though I admit I am loathe to give up the Saturday night pizza and the fun of trying new things (like the chili dogs with scratch buns and sauce) that I'd never make during the week.  So maybe I can just dial it back ... and not eat chips and onion dip.  Maybe.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.  Same old dependable.

Lunch:  Ham and potato soup, toast w butter

Yesterday's soup.  Similar to last time, no onions this time and smaller diced ham.  Quite tasty if not quite as exquisite at the prior batch, we'll see if another day in the fridge boosts the next bowlful.

Dinner:  2 american tacos, 2 mexican tacos, 12 oz All Day IPA

Hit the jackpot, nice fat tacos and extra hot sauces.  Fantastic.

Exercise:  Nope.  Not much sleep again.  I did wake up at 5:00 but not in a way that would have lent itself to walking.  Which is too bad, because conditions are tolerable at the moment.

Predictability

Sunday, January 30, 2022

I am definitely improving at some things.  Making bread products (doh!).  Oh, and predicting my weight.  Was very confident that I'd be up this morning, felt it.  And I was.  Not a big surprise at all, yesterday wasn't a good day for the eating or for activity.  A little bloated, a little backed up.  Bad sleep.  But that's the way it goes.  A short term blip.

Breakfast:  2 egg omelet with mexicheese and guac, sour cream, 1 sausage patty, grapefruit, coffee

All good.

Lunch:  Chili cheese dogs, chips and onion dip

Cleanup.  Delicious.  Better with a five minute toast in the oven to melt the cheese, which may have also helped tame the onions a bit.   I did botch the cut of the buns when I put them away yesterday, wayyy too deep.  Oops.

Also: tasted a little of the ham and potato soup I made for the week.  And the bread.  With butter.  And some pork rinds.

Dinner:    Meatloaf, box potatoes, green beans, rolls w butter, peaches, Culvers concrete mixer

Sigh.  It was a eating kind of day.

Exercise:  Nope.  Schedule is getting worse, asleep last night after 1, woke up just after 6.  Felt, predictably, like crap (stupid winter).  Perked right up after a shower though.

When You Repeat Yourself Every Week

Saturday, January 29, 2022

I mean, I know I say it every week, but say it with me.  With authority.  TGIS.  Seriously.  I just seem to run out of gas by Friday afternoon - not physically so much, but more mentally.  It gets hard to fight through the dontwanna.  But now, even though I have a million things to do, I'm not locked into being at the office, chained to the phone.  Feels good man.

Not as much cooking planned for the weekend.  Going to make a pot of soup but that may be about it.  Have a new item on the menu but otherwise a lot of same old dependably good stuff.

Breakfast:  1 egg over medium hard, 2 slices toast with butter, guacamole, a sprinkle of mexicheese, grapefruit, coffee

A little sandwich action this morning, nice and easy and delicious.  Wasn't super hungry so it was easy to keep things in check.  And I cleaned up bread I didn't eat when I missed lunch on Thursday.  All good.

Lunch:  Chili Cheese Dogs

Something new!  Homemade buns -- yes, I made them giant on purpose, next time I'll make them smaller -- Kogel's beef franks, homemade chili dog sauce, mustard and oops I remembered onion halfway through eating.  Quite good and better, honestly, without the onion.  Next time I'll use a milder onion.  Might also toss them in a heated oven to melt the cheese (since I didn't have any finely shredded cheddar open).  But all in all very good.

Snack:  Chips and onion dip.

Didn't have lunch until 2:00 so I had a snack.  Doh.  Weekends.

Dinner:  Home thin crust pizza with sausage and onion, 24 oz All Day IPA

I do love the Saturday night pizza and it's so very easy (at least when you have dough and sausage thawed from the freezer ready to go).  Just delightful.

Might have a gin and tonic later just for something different, I think I have a little bottle of tonic that's been hanging out in the fridge for a long time.  Edit:  Nope, never got around to it.

Exercise:  Sigh.  I think it was 5 degrees when I woke up.  Which was not at 5:00.  Not close.  Going to try to make up for the absence of regulation exercise by being nice and active today.

Good Disbelief

Friday, January 28, 2022

Another lesson in why I don't believe my scale, even when it's a good day which it was today.  Jumped on, saw a big drop and was skeptical enough to re-weigh.  When I did, it wasn't as big.  Third try gave me the same number as the 2nd, so I'm going with that.  Too bad it didn't match the first but I'm still very happy with it and now I'm not as likely to see an annoying big jump tomorrow.  Still a win.

A happy side effect of all the cooking I've done lately is that I spent less than $40 at the grocery store.  Don't think I even made it to thirty on the food I bought, though in fairness I spent about fifteen bucks the other day.  Still, it's nice to be stocked up with a full freezer I can eat down.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup and toast, Chobani zero sugar key lime flavor yogurt

Can't believe I forgot to take a photo.  Oops.  Same as usual, hamburger soup, homemade toast with ample butter.   I liked the key lime flavor better than the coconut flavor but I still won't be in a rush to rebuy.

Dinner:  2 egg cheddar cheese omelet with leftover sausage gravy, leftover biscuits with butter, 12 oz All Day IPA, mixed nuts

Same as yesterday, just in different format with a little butter and cheese.  Ok maybe not a little.  Very tasty, even if I only went 1 for 2 on successfully fork-splitting the leftover biscuits.  They really were not tall enough for that.

Exercise:  Nope.  No progress this morning.  I do want to get it going though.  Maybe not tomorrow, I think it's supposed to be below zero tonight.  Brrr.

About Thursdays

Thursday, January 27, 2021

Whew.  Long day.  Busy day.  Work thing went through lunch again.

A very random note, today was the first day I wore a pair of my smallest size pants.  I had tried them on a couple weeks ago, but had been wearing the next size up.  I dirtied them up and didn't feel like doing laundry last night so a pair of the smaller size it was.  Went just fine, which was not a surprise.  Feels pretty good man.  Still haven't moved down a shirt size, though I did wear one once and it was fine.  I kinda enjoy the fit of shirt and pants being just a bit big, it's a nice change from stuff being too small.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  2 hard boiled eggs

I guess you can call 2:45 lunch.  Grabbed these on the go.

Dinner:  2 eggs scrambled with a splash of milk, biscuits and sausage gravy, 12 oz All Day IPA, mixed nuts

Happy that this worked out the way I envisioned.  Did the biscuits in the air fryer, they're basic scratch buttermilk biscuits.  While they cooked I made the gravy.  Scrambled a couple eggs and it was dinner time, all in 20 minutes.

Exercise:  Nope.  Did wake up at 6:00, so there's a little progress there.

Set Up For Success

Wednesday, January 26, 2021

I stacked the deck when it came to today's weigh in -- I got my hair cut yesterday.  Between that and some efficient disposal it was a good morning on the scale.  A new low, in fact.  Only a few more pounds to go to surpass the prior all time (blog time) low.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup

Lunch:  Soup and toast, Chobani zero sugar "coconut" yogurt

Another new thing, the yogurt was on sale and I had a coupon so I gave it a go.  It was fine, just not very inspiring.  Tasted like, well, artificial coconut.  Probably won't buy again, honestly the plain full fat greek yogurt is more my style.

Dinner:  Barbacoa bowl, 12 oz All Day IPA, handful of mixed nuts

Same bowl as yesterday.  Still excessive.  Quite enjoyable.

Exercise:  Nope.  Got to bed slightly earlier, did not translate to up earlier.

Keep On Flushin

Tuesday, January 25, 2022

More water departs, you gotta love that.  Otherwise, a routine weekday.  Still way off on the schedule, made zero progress toward fixing it.  Hoping to break through the next barrier on the scale this week, we will see.  I have a couple different dinners lined up, hopefully they aren't too damaging.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup and toast, Good Culture cottage cheese w pineapple

A new thing!  Never had this kind of cottage cheese before, it was quite tasty.  Not many carbs either, it's just a little pineapple.  Would buy again, though at $2 for a little 100 calorie container probably not super often.

Dinner:  Barbacoa, spicy bacony beans, cilantro lime rice, mexicheese, salsa, sour cream and guac; 12 oz All Day IPA

Another new thing!  A chipotle bowl knockoff.  Turned out to be more food that I should eat in the evenings.  Didn't have any fajita peppers.  Did have peppers and onions in the beans tho, so should be a fair trade.  Turned out quite good and had a lot of kick, I got a little carried away with the chipotles in adobo.  Planning on another bowl tomorrow night, will try freezing the rest of the rice.

May also have a handful of mixed nuts, not sure yet.  Edit:  A very small handful.  And the heel of my new loaf of bread with butter.

Exercise:  Nope.  Sigh.  I'm ready to be done with wintery winter.  If I can fix the schedule I have an idea though.

Still Very Much A Dip

Monday, January 24, 2021

Dunno why I crave chips and onion dip.  But I do, and good grief did I eat a ton of it over the weekend.  Finished them off yesterday so I should at least get in a fairly clean week.  Hopefully.  The good news is that I didn't take a big hit on the scale yesterday when I ate a bunch -- lunch out, big dinner and lots o chips.  I did pay for it a little, eating late meant lots of snoring.  Was tired this morning.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup and toast, 2 hard boiled eggs

Yesterday's soup, an ever so slighly smaller quantity than my usual bowl - bought some new containers to try.  Added the eggs, impulse buy when I did my shopping at the unusual store.  Nice add.

Dinner:  2 tacos mexican style, 2 american style, 12 oz All Day IPA, grapefruit, mixed nuts

Taco Monday.  Cleaned up the weekend's grapefruit too.

Exercise:  Nope.  Barely managed to drag myself out of bed at 7:30, need to stop going to sleep after midnight.  Too wired last night.

Nothing Interesting To See Here

Sunday, Jaunary 23, 2022

Another day.  At least it's still the weekend.  I was planning on lots of office time but instead I think I'm going to visit Spectrum and see if they'll let me swap out my modem.  I'm tired of the crappy internet.  Might buy a new router while I'm at it.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Not real hungry this morning.  Had planned to cook some stuff but decided not to bother.  I'll make it for dinner later in the week.

Lunch:  Chipotle bowl with barbacoa, same as last week

Not planned, I ended up having to visit Spectrum, but at least doing so (plus buying a new router) appears to have solved the problem and improved performance.  Yay.  As for the bowl, it was tasty but the burrito artist was not as generous as the one who made last week's entree.  Oh well.

Snack:  Chips and onion dip

A little clean up.  Okay, a lot of clean up.  Way too many.

Dinner:  Chuck roast, box potatoes, carrots, gravy, butterflake rolls w butter, peaches, 12 oz Miller Lite

Notably good tonight.  Ate way too much of course.

Exercise:  Nope.   Not even super active today.

Such A Dip

Saturday, January 22, 2022

TGIS.  So much more than I TGIF, although F eve is a worthy contender.  Anyway, I have a massive list of stuff to do this weekend and ehhh not so much pep this morning.  Oh well.  Breakfast is done, let's see what I can get busy doing.

Breakfast:  3 eggs shirred in cream, 1 Meijer sausage patty, toast w butter, grapefruit, coffee

Good but not great.   I'm not getting the eggs exactly the way I like them.  Other recipes seem to bake them at a much higher temp, I'm going to mess around with that next time.  Toast was also meh, glad to be done with that packet.  Making a fresh loaf is on the agenda for today.

Lunch:  Keto Bowl with ground beef

A fave.

Dinner:  Home thin crust pizza w italian sausage, onion and red bell pepper, 24 oz All Day IPA

A fantastic pizza, didn't take much effort - I had dough and sausage in the freezer (thawed), snagged a little of the veg from the batch of spicy beans that is in proces.  EZ game.

Exercise:  Nope.  Same story.  Schedule way off, slept way too late, cold and windy out there anyway.  I'll be Saturday active (though I won't be going to storage I don't think) just nothing specific enough to count.

Breaking At Eleven

Friday, January 21, 2022

This just in, if you eat less, you lose weight.  We'll have the full story on the late news.

A new recent years low this morning.  I think I'm only seven pounds above my since-the-beginning low, wow it's been about ten years on this blog.  I do kinda wish I kept track further back ... at least I know that I have a long way to go.  It'll be a while even to get to my goal, though it would be swell to put the recent years low in the rear view.  It will definitely feel like an accomplishment.

Brought home a spare router to try and fix my unstable internet problem this weekend.  Fingers crossed.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup and toast, 4 strips Meijer bacon

Leftover bacon cleanup from the weekend.  Need to clean out the fridge since I'll be hitting the grocery store tonight and I have several cooking projects in the plans for the weekend.

Dinner:  Spicy beans w extra sharp cheddar, Great Lakes pickled jalapeno chips and Country Fresh french onion dip, 12 oz All Day IPA

Grocery trip #1, beans, grocery trip #2, chips and dip with a beer.  Friday night TGIFFFS.  I'm going to start going to store #2 more regularly, they have a lot of stuff I haven't seen elsewhere.  The prices are higher, but not so much that it'll break the bank and the meat I got was actually less expensive than store #1 (Meijer).   I really need to hit the farm and restock my supply of good clean ground beef - Meijer was out of the kind I have been buying which is clean, just not local.  They were out of a lot of stuff, actually.

Exercise:  Nope.  Slept pretty well, woke up about 6 which is a small improvement.  I'd be a lot more frustrated if it were not bitterly cold out there.  I hate walking on ice and when it's zero windchill or worse.

Fail Fatigue

Thursday, January 20, 2022

Not that kind of fail.  Computer fail.  Tech fail.  I'm getting annoyed.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  NOPE

That's right, NOPE.  Work made me go straight thru until 2:30, at which point I figured I may as well keep going and just wait until dinner.  Not a huge deal.

Dinner:  Leftover ham and potato soup, 12 oz Miller Lite, Alexia potato puffs with ranchified sour cream, a few mixed nuts and a glass of whole milk

Last of the soup.  Too bad, it was exquisite.  Will have to make again.  Tots were better with the sour cream than with ketchup.  Probably didn't hurt that I dialed back the cook time a little.  Tasty.

Exercise:  Nope.  I was a little more alert this morning but still didn't get up before 6:30 since I went to sleep after midnight again.  Still need to shift.

Humped

Wednesday, January 19, 2022

Trudging along.  Not a lot of inspo today.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup and toast

Standard.  Quite satisfactory.

Dinner:  Ham and potato soup, 12 oz All Day IPA, Alexia potato puffs w ketchup, a few mixed nuts

Only one soup left after tonight.  Too bad.  Tonight's air fryer experiment was the tater tots.  They turned out good, though the taste wasn't particularly impressive (first time trying the Alexia), they were fine, just not distinctive.  Made way too many, next time I don't just dump directly into the basket.  Oops.

Add:  A glass of whole milk.

Exercise:  Nope.  Schedule remains off.  Need to fix.

A Very Airfryer Something

Tuesday, January 18, 2022

We will see if the internet issues have been resolved.  It was stable for a while last night (after another reset) but who knows.  It is certainly annoying.  Next step if it is not working is to try a different router.

Edit:  NOPE.  It particularly hates Google sites, notably google photos.  Oh, and blogger.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Ham and potato soup, toast

Wow, that really turned out delicious.  Not all that much different than my regular soup, just ham instead of ground beef and no tomato, add cream.  I should have "finished" it before adding the cream, that way I could have frozen some of it and just added cream when reheating.  Doh.  Oh well, I don't really have any room in the freezer anyway.  That's a project for this weekend, to get some stuff out of there.

Dinner:  Ham and potato soup, 12 oz All Day IPA, air fried dill pickles with ranched sour cream

The soup was so good (and I have so much in the fridge) that I just doubled up.  And then I played with the new toy, an air fryer that arrived over the weekend.  Quite impressed with how the pickles turned out.

Exercise:  Nope.  Schedule is getting worse, not better.  Could not get to sleep last night, was after midnight before I did.  Felt lousy as usual (since winter) when I got up, the dry air and draftiness are a problem I haven't quite solved.

Overriced

Monday, January 17, 2022

Slow and sluggish this morning, which isn't much of a surprise.  Ate too much last night.  The mental side of things is still a struggle sometimes ... it would be so much easier if I got a strong satiety signal.  Or any such signal.  Preferably early.  Anyway, I was pleased that the damage wasn't too bad considering the ton of rice and other starch I consumed.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup and toast

Standard.  Toast from the freezer (defrosted overnight) since I didn't make a loaf yesterday.  On the to do list.

Dinner:  2 Mexican 2 American tacos, 12 oz All Day IPA

Also quite standard.  And tasty.

Exercise:  Nope.  No chance I was getting up.  Frustrating.

Weird Ass Internet

Sunday, January 16, 2022

Home internet continues to be crap.  Annoying.  Constant cutouts and unavailability.  Grrr.

Pleased to not have a big gain after yesterday, I defintely ate too much and not good for me stuff.  But it was all tasty so at least there is that.

Breakfast:   3 eggs shirred in cream, butter, cheddar cheese.  2 strips Meijer bacon, grapefruit, Meijer spicy veg juice, coffee

Probably the first time I've ever done shirred eggs, delicious even though I definitely overcooked them.  I did not trust that they were done when they were supposed to be done - may have just used a bit too much cream so they looked not done.  Anyway, will definitely eat again.

Lunch:  Chipotle bowl with barbacoa, rice, pintos, fajita veg, hot salsa, cheese and sour cream

Was going to get a keto bowl.  NOPE.  Closed on Sundays.  Never thought to check.  Oh well.  Went to Chipotle thinking they may still have brisket.  NOPE.  Barbacoa was delicious though.

Dinner:   Broiled chicken, spanish rice, refried beans, chips and salsa, a few Doritos, yellow cake with vanilla ice cream

Birthday party.  Ate way too much.

Exercise:  Nope.  Another frigid morning.  I did manage to get up closer to the usual time so hopefully tomorrow.  I have been super active today, moved a lot of stuff around, lots of trips up and down the stairs, some heavy lifting.

Wild Card Saturday Dunno If Super

 Saturday, January 15, 2022

Having some internet issues at home lately.   It's getting annoying.  Just tried resetting the router, that does not seem to have solved it.  Next up, the modem.  If that doesn't work may be time to see whether I should be calling Spectrum.

Breakfast:  2 egg omelet with cheddar, guac and sour cream, 3 strips Meijer bacon, toast w butter, grapefruit, Meijer spicy veg juice

Another feast.  All very good.

Lunch:  Smoked meatloaf, mashed potatoes w gravy, roll w butter

Shopped longer than planned so I picked up lunch from the semi-local BBQ place.  The first place I tried was closed so this was plan B.  Good, a bit much and not so good for me.

Dinner:  Home thin crust sausage pizza, 12 oz All Day IPA

Much smaller dough ball than usual.  Still didn't roll it as thin as I could have, but whatever.  Produced a nice plate-sized pizza and tasted great.

Exercise:  Nope.  Active day, did a bunch of non-grocery shopping and stuff around the house, but no formal exercise.

For Love Of Small Numbers

Friday, January 14, 2022

When it comes to the scale the small the better.  And it's been a great week for the scale.  Truly great.  I have no idea why (other than the lack of blowups) but I like it.  And I hope it continues.  I felt leaner this morning which always enjoyable.  Not to be confused with lean.  Just leaner.  Still could stand to lose a large percentage of my body weight but I'm making progress.  I do wish I had taken some body pictures back in 2013 (I think) when I was at my lowest, I'd be curious to see how it compares as I am getting very close to that number.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup and toast

Yup.

Dinner:  Spicy bacony beans with extra sharp cheddar, Siete nacho grain free chips, 12 oz Miller Lite

Always tasty.  There's a reason I keep eating the same things.

Exercise:  Nope.  We'll see what I can do this weekend to get back on track.  I was awakeish this morning at 5:00 but did not get up or get moving, seems like if I could just tire myself out one evening so I go to bed earlier I could shift back in the proper direction.

Waterbegone

Thursday, January 13, 2022

Well, good news this morning, the holiday weight has departed.  All of it!  Seems like it was mostly water, which was not unexpected.  What's odd is that I've still been getting rid of a decent amount.  I don't expect the big drops to continue (especially given a carby weekend coming up) but it's been nice.  Especially since I have been essentially unable (read: unwilling) to exercise.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup and toast

The usual.  Nothing extra today, hope that doesn't bite me later.  (Edit:  It didn't).

Dinner:  Taco bowl, 12 oz All Day IPA, mixed nuts

Same as the last couple nights.  Fewer nuts, which are now gone.

Exercise:  Nope.  Woke up at 4 but was not awake.  Went back to bed.  Needed it.  Weather was good for once but I saw (later, when there was daylight) that it was rather icy out there.  I should suck it up and walk in the street.  Soon.

Double Everything

Wednesday, January 12, 2022

Weird night.  Woke up at 4:30 and was, well, awake.  Unexpectedly, since I had not gone to bed early.  I eventually dozed off in the recliner (it was a while later) and got quite a bit of additional sleep.  Real sleep too as I had two separate dreams during that block of time.

Also doubled down on the taco meat today.  Wasn't going to pass up a keto bowl when work took me in that direction at lunch time.  And I had a container thawed for dinner.  Guess I could have had something else, but whatever.  I like tacos.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Keto bowl with ground beef

Very good.  And a good thing that I ran out of food, it took several minutes after I left for any sort of satiety message to get to my brain and I would have definitely eaten to the point of discomfort if I'd had a large one in front of me.

Dinner:  Taco bowl, 12 oz All Day IPA, mixed nuts

Same as yesterday.

Exercise:  Nope.

But For Lagging Elements

Tuesday, January 11, 2021

Slowly it's coming back together.  Obviously I would like to have not had it take this long, but you cannot always control what happens.  At least I'm back to feeling okay, which is a positive step.  Now if I can just get the sleep schedule fixed - the last two nights have been big moves in the wrong direction - and it could warm up enough for me to get outside to walk.  Those things will come, I just want it all right now.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Yup.

Lunch:  Soup and toast, 2 strips of leftover Meijer bacon

Yup.  Cleaned up the last of the weekend's bacon.

Dinner:  Taco bowl, 12 oz All Day IPA, mixed nuts

Too many nuts.  Otherwise, standard.

Exercise:  Nope.  My schedule is shifted 2+ hours in the wrong direction as it is and I could have easily slept until 9:00 this morning.  Need to work on that.
