Merry PostChristmas

Saturday, December 26, 2020

Just checking in to report that I have not yet quite exploded in a heap of half-digested holiday treats.   Not for lack of effort though.  I have been eating ALL the things to the point where it's gotten embarassing.  And I still have lots of stuff on hand.

Back soon.

Some of the stuff, from today at least:

Carbathon Continues

Sunday, December 13, 2020

Have felt kinda off this weekend.  Not sick, just off.  Didn't get much done yesterday, was tired after waking up too early.  Slept in today until almost 9:00.  No tiredness issues, just not super enthusiastic.  At least I got some of my Christmas shopping done.

Waaaay too many calories and carbs today.  So it goes.

Breakfast:  Leftover pancakes with butter and maple syrup, bacon, coffee

Overdid it on the bacon, not sorry.  Late breakfast kept me going until midafternoon.

Lunch:  Freddy's patty melt, regular chocolate shake

Out shopping, finally stopped and ate.

Dinner:  Leftover biscuit tuna sandwich, trail mix

Same analysis as yesterday.  Did improve a bit by having melty cheese.

Exercise:  Lots of walking while shopping.

All the hh

Sunday, December 12, 2020

Ahhhh with many, many hhs.  Weekend.  Woke up at 4:30 and didn't get back to sleep.  Which is not to say that I was immediately active, because I was not.  Still, I have hopes to get some things done around the house.  Christmas prep, cleaning, that sort of thing.  Should be busy.

Breakfast:  Buttermilk pancakes with a little maple syrup and butter, 4 strips OM thick sliced bacon, coffee

Delicious as always.

Lunch:  Tuna Biscuit sandwich and lots of it

Experiment.  If I made it again I would use a different biscuit recipe and definitely more filling.  I also forgot to put the cheese inside.  Oops.  Still tasted good and was about a zillion calories of badness.

Dinner:  Pepperoni pizza.  Will probably have a gin and tonic later.

Very good of course, maybe a shade overdone but didn't hurt the taste one bit.

It was a VERY carby day.

Exercise:  Nope.  Cold rain/snow/slop almost all day.  Stayed home safe and warm.

Rererebound

Friday, December 11, 2020

Phew, Friday.  No good news on the scale this morning, yesterday was rather starchy.  So it goes.

Breakfast:  Coffee w cocoa butter

Lunch:  Leftover yellow rice with ham, Fage vanilla TruBlend yogurt

Pretty solid.

Dinner:  2 Culver's double deluxes

Broke the no FF streak, hit the store after work and it was after 8:00 by the time I got home.  Culvers was so slow that I would have been better off fixing breakfast.  Oh well.

Exercise:  Nope.

Getting There

Thursday, December 10, 2020

Not quite Friday but we are getting there.  It continues to be a decent week.  Slept OK, still a work in progress actually putting the phone down and sleeping, but a little progress.  Will keep plugging away.

Breakfast:  Coffee with cocoa butter

Lunch:  Yellow rice with ham

Good stuff.  Went with a lot more ham (and half as much rice) as last time.  Note to self, the smaller cubes are better.  I don't know what happened to my photo, I did take one of the bowl!

Dinner:  2 eggs, hash browns, 4 sausage patties, 24 oz All Day IPA (standard preparation), sour cream

Yum.

Exercise:  Nope

Possible Power Of Home Tacos?

Wednesday, December 9, 2020

Another nice drop today, I'm starting to think that home tacos are just as powerful as takeout tacos.  OK seriously though, it's nice to see the recent gains vanish -- or maybe flush is a better word.  Not suffering one bit either.

Speaking of things that are nice, I had a bit of pep in my step coming home last night.  Been a minute since I've experienced that.  Wasn't long lasting or anything but it was notable.

Breakfast:  Coffee with cocoa butter

Lunch:  Home tacos with cheese, sour cream and fire sauce

Jazzed up with a half slice of extra sharp cheddar between the tortillas, a nice add.  I didn't think I had much shredded cheese left so why not.  Turned out great.  Weird shadows on that photo!

Dinner:  2 eggs over medium, 4 Jimmy Dean sausage patties, hash browns, usual preparation with butter.  24 oz Miller Lite

Forgot the sour cream tonight.  Didn't miss it, this was exquisite.  It was also a lot of food.

Exercise:  Nope.

Not Always Expected

Tuesday, December 8, 2020

Well that was a pleasant surprise.  I was a little irked last night when I went to bed, since I lost control and ate way too many triscuits.  I figured that spoiled what was otherwise a pretty solid day.  Carby, but solid.  Then I woke up this morning and got a nice drop on the scale.  Go figure.  I didn't deserve it but I'll sure take it.  Now to drop the rest of what I put on the last two months.

Breakfast:  Coffee with cocoa butter

I do like the addition.  Went lighter (1 wafer instead of 2) and that was fine.

Lunch:  Home tacos w cheese, sour cream, fire sauce and Kumama jalapeno avocado sauce

Broke out the new sauce.  I expected it to be overpowering, but it wasn't.  A solid, fast lunch.

Dinner:  Leftover roast, potatoes, carrots and gravy.  24 oz All Day IPA.  Cheese popcorn

Living the life.  That's the last of the roast.

Exercise:  Nope.  Another day where I needed more sleep.

Listening Mode

Monday, December 7, 2020

Decided to listen to what my body was telling me this morning.  At least that's my story and I'm sticking with it.  Went to bed around 9:30, didn't get to sleep until just after 10:00.  Set the alarm for 6:00, figuring that less than eight hours wouldn't do it.  Woke up a couple minutes before, nice to sleep through the night for once.  Immediately knew I needed more sleep.  Slept in the recliner until after 7:30, at which point I couldn't delay any longer though I probably could have slept another hour.

I did have a truly spectacular dream about having my car stolen in Detroit and missing some work obligations.  It was quite a night.

Breakfast:  Coffee

No hunger this morning, pleased by that.

Lunch:  Home tacos with cheese, sour cream and fire sauce

Store-bought tortillas remain inferior but since I still have some left they're getting consumed.  This is a very quick and easy meal with everything pre-made.  Barely takes more time than making a sandwich.

Dinner:  Leftover chuck roast with gravy, potatoes and carrots.  24 oz Miller Lite.  Meijer knockoff rosemary olive oil triscuits

Better the second day thanks to more appropos seasoning.  Just salt and pepper.  Easy and delicious.  Now let's see if I can get my butt in bed at a reasonable hour.

Exercise:  Nope.

Expected Overrest

Sunday, December 6, 2020

Ahh.  Thank goodness it's Sunday.  As anticipated it took a lot of rest to recover from yesterday.  In bed at 9:00, asleep by 9:30, didn't get up until 7:00.  Did have to get up about 1:30 due to a nasty foot/ankle/front of lower leg cramp but had no trouble getting back to sleep.  Grateful that was a single event, far too often when I experience night cramps they reoccur a couple times.

Not quite as ambitious of a day planned for today.  Obviously I did not take a 5:00 a.m. walk.  I have enough stuff to do around the house for it to be a physically active day.  Lots of house projects and I could always hit the storage unit if time and daylight permit.

Breakfast:  Leftover pancakes with butter and maple syrup, bacon, coffee

Very bacony.  Shouldn't have reheated that much but I cleaned it up.

Lunch:  Grilled ham and swiss sandwich, Fage cherry TruBlend yogurt

More cleanup.  This was a monster sandwich with an extra slice of bread and extra cheese -- cleaned those up as well as a package of ham.  About a zillion calories of delicious.  And once I cook up the taco meat this afternoon my fridge is going to look pretty darned spiffy for a pandemic.

Dinner:  Chuck roast, potatoes and carrots, gravy, 24 oz Miller Lite

Pretty good.  Not the greatest but I may have just seasoned poorly.  Will be eating the next couple nights.

Exercise:  Nope.  Active day but no specific exercise.  Not worried about it when I'm this busy doing stuff.

Mostly Foamed

Saturday, December 5, 2020

A strange morning.

I washed my sheets last night and threw the memory foam mattress topper back on the bed.  I gave up on it a while back due to allegeric reaction but decided to give it another go since I've been taking the Wal Zyr and could use to sleep better.

Woke up about 3:20 and it didn't take long to figure out that I wasn't going back to sleep.  I wasn't hurting or anything, just didn't need to sleep right then.  Lazed about and eventually made myself get up and go for a walk.  So the weekend is starting off well.

Late AM update:  Dragging.  Understandable, but annoying.  Still powering thru to get some things done.

After dinner:  Exhausted.  Got a LOT done today, feel good about that.  Hoping for about 9 hours of sleep though so I can do more stuff tomorrow!

Breakfast:  Pancakes w butter and maple syrup, bacon, coffee

Did not skimp on portions, that's for sure.  Photo skills clearly lacking

Lunch:  Keto sausage balls, grilled cheese sandwich, had a little lemonade later

Cleanup.  Last of the KSB from the freezer, finished a package of cheese and the holiday lemonade.  Just about done with the loaf of bread too.

Dinner:  2 eggs, hash browns, 2 sausage patties all standard preparations, sour cream.

Ground beef wasn't thawed so I didn't make taco meat.  Audibled to breakfast for dinner, cleaned up the sausage.  10/10, will eat again.  Was very disappointed that they were out of the sausage patties at the store today, they've been great.  Might wind up the day with a cleanup gin and tonic.

Exercise:  Walk.  Pedometer said a bit more than 1.75 miles, 45 minutes.  Slow pace and probably a bit ambitious considering the lack of regular walking but it was OK.  I was ready to be done when finished.  32 degrees and a light breeze made for pretty pleasant conditions, just a little cold on the face when into the wind.

File Under Day, Cheat

Friday, December 4, 2020

TGIF.  Big time.  Even though it wasn't a great week at work or pressure packed or anything it was still rocky and I'm glad it's over.

Stuff to do this weekend but nothing too ambitious.  We'll see how much gets done.

Breakfast:  Cornbread, coffee

Yup, quite stale.

Lunch:  2x McRib, medium fries, medium Dr. Pepper

Planned cheat, just delayed from yesterday.  Worked out perfectly, the McRibs were excellent.  Itch has been scratched.

Dinner:  2 medium eggs in butter, 3 sausage patties, hash browns in butter w sour cream, 24 oz Miller Lite

What a great dinner.  So good.  The sausage patties aren't completely clean, have a gram of carbs from corn syrup or something, but close.   When I keep the hash browns reasonable this is fine.

Exercise:  Nope.  Woke up earlier but ended up dozing (and late).  It's a work in progress.

Flushing Max

Thursday, December 3, 2020

I haven't even cut the carbs yet and already I'm flushing out vast quantities of liquid.  It's weird.  I mean, I ate a ton of rice at lunch yesterday and still, whooosh.  I'm not complaining and would like even more of it to depart, but it's odd.

Breakfast:  Cornbread, coffee

Barely remembered to take a photo.  Definitely staling in a hurry.  Will be marginal by tomorrow morning.

Lunch:  Tacos w onion, cheese, sour cream, leftover keto sausage balls

I was surprisingly satisfied by the tacos (store tortillas still suck though) but had the sausage balls reheating in the oven.  They stood up well to freezing, I was pleased.

Dinner:  2 eggs over medium in butter, hash browns in butter, 3 sausage patties, sour cream.  24 oz Miller Lite

So good.  Wish I'd taken the photo earlier, it was so pretty.

Exercise:  Nope.  Maybe this weekend.  Made small progress toward earlier wakeup, moved the clock a few minutes in the right direction by going to bed a little earlier.  More tonight I hope.

Little Things Part Billions

Wednesday, December 2, 2020

Sometimes there aren't great leaps forward and that's okay.  Just a small improvement, like say eating at home for all meals, is progress.  I don't have any deadlines, don't need to suffer for the sake of suffering. But I do need to improve and one day in a row is a start.  That said, I have a pre-planned fast food meal tomorrow.  But it's planned and it's one meal.  Very different from what's been happening.

Breakfast:  Cornbread, coffee

Made a pan of Miracle Maize cornbread last night (and ate a bunch, which needs to go on yesterday's log).  Had some today, will work on it the rest of the week.  Did OK with no breakfast yesterday, but if I really start scaling back at dinner in anticipation of crashing way earlier I may give eating something in the mornings a go.  We'll see.

Lunch:  Vigo yellow rice with diced ham

For whatever reason this sounded better than a sandwich today.

Dinner:  2 medium eggs in butter, hash browns in ghee/evoo, sour cream, 3 sausage patties, 24 oz Miller Lite

Hit the spot.

Exercise:  Nope.  Didn't get up until 8 and was still sleeping and tired.  Plan in processs to shift the schedule, going to be hard if I keep needing 8-9 hours of sleep.

Post Thankful Click Done

 Tuesday, December 1, 2020

Very glad to be done with November diet-wise.  It was a rocky month full of awful, awful eating.  I will be trying hard to do better in December -- that's a pretty low bar so it's attainable.  The main area will be eating at home (and quitting the soda again), though I will be making a McRib exception.  Hopefully one monumental meal will be sufficient to scratch that itch.

Breakfast:  Coffee

Lunch:  Cheese sandwich, Progresso tomato basil soup, rosemary olive oil triscuits

Not bad.

Dinner:  Tacos w cheese, lettuce, onion, sour cream.  Lemonade.  16 oz Brewery Vivant farmhouse red ale.  Cornbread w butter

These were OK.  Store tortillas just aren't as good.

Exercise:  Nope.  Bad leg has been very cranky since the playing of golf three days in a row.  I briefly though yesterday afternoon that I'd be ready to go today, wrong.  Also really struggling with getting enough rest - been sleeping very late and it's still not enough.
