So That Obstacle...
Sunday, November 29, 2015
The obstacles to my getting back on track are, of course, largely in my head. It does not help at all that I have been sleeping poorly. Some sinus issues, which thankfully aren't too awful at the moment, but mostly the interrupted sleep of someone who is too fat. I could get tested for sleep apnea again ... or I could just fight through it and lose the weight. Seriously, I used to sleep the sleep of the dead, would black out and then wake up. What I'm getting now sure isn't refreshing.
Anyway, the head thing. I have a hard time not eating the junk I have purchased when I really should be able to let it go. I have a fair amount of said junk. I'll probably eat some of it today, but it really is time to kick it into gear.
Breakfast: Entemann's frosted donuts and a glass of whole milk
Slept in and didn't have the kitchen cleaned up since I'm still playing holiday catchup. That's number one on my to do list for today.
Lunch: 3 Koegel's vienna franks on pretzel dog buns with mustard, ketchup and celery salt
Snack: Chips and onion dip, 2 mini Snickers bars
Dinner: Tacos, and lots of them. Some doritos. Chips and salsa, a slice of banana bread
Exercise: Nope.
Money Spent: None.

Honestly, I thought I'd like this more than I did. Should have toasted the buns. |

A Game Day
Saturday, November 28, 2015
Long day. Traveled to a college football game.
Breakfast: Cracker Barrel sunrise sampler minus the hash brown casserole, coffee
The hash brown casserole was vile, even when they brought me a second piece. The rest of it was mediocre at best. Easily the worst breakfast I have ever had at Cracker Barrel.
Lunch: None. Had a couple fun sized Snickers and 3 Muskateers bars while in traffic after the game
Dinner: Steak n Shake double with cheese, fries, chocolate shake
Other: A bunch of lemon Oreos with a glass of whole milk
Exercise: Lots. Several miles of walking, stadium stairs. Calories were burned. Felt good man.
Money spent: About $6.00 in tips etc. Guesting.

Avoiding BF Like a Boss

Slept in. Sleep schedule is definitely wonky. There are some things I need to adjust and that's very high on the list. Physically feel decent (other than being heavy right now) and I tend to have headaches in the morning when I wake up which I assume is low oxygen. Another thing that will improve if I get it back together.
Lots to do today, but probably not including any Black Friday shopping. Instead, kitchen cleanup, laundry and that sort of thing will be featured prominently.
Breakfast: 2 CF eggs fried in a bit of butter, 3 strips CF garlic pepper bacon, a smaller amount of Alexia hash browns in butter, 1 slice american cheese, coffee, 2 Entemanns chocolate frosted donuts.
Those donuts. Terrible for you but like crack. And I didn't resist when I saw they were $1.99 this week. Derp.
Lunch: McDonald's McDouble and small fries
Just hungry enough to need something. And I did go out shopping in the afternoon.
Dinner: Leftover turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry, crescent rolls with butter. Cocount cream pie and a pecan bar.
Yum.
Also: A few jalapeno Krunchers chips. Bag pretty much gone which is good.
Exercise: Nope, unless you count walking around the stores.
Money Spent: $2.12

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving Day
I'm grateful today for the abundance that has permitted me to be (very) fat and (mostly) happy. To have never known hunger and barely deprivation is a blessing beyond compare. To say that I am fortunate is to understate things to the nth degree. I am thankful.
I am also privileged to be able to do something about things which are less than ideal. So I really should take another crack at fixing my habits, diet and exercise, so that I can feel better and live longer.
It just won't be today. Or for that matter tomorrow or the rest of the weekend. Doggone these feast holidays.
Breakfast: 2 CF eggs fried in a bit of butter, 4 strips CF garlic pepper bacon, Alexia hash browns fried in butter, coffee, Entemann's frosted chocolate donuts
Lunch: Turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, squash, green bean casserole, crescent rolls, cranberry, fruit salad, mac and cheese, 1/2 of a Bell's winter white beer, pecan bar, coconut cream pie, lemon pie, apple pie, cheesecake.
Whew. I think that's everything.
"Dinner": A couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream with Entemann's donuts
Exercise: Nope
Money spent: $0.00

Not So Much Cash Money
Monday, November 16, 2015
I forgot that I was keeping track of how much I spend on food, so I can start adding that in again too. It's a nice reminder that I need to pay attention. If I mostly eat at home, it's not bad.
Breakfast: Turkey and american cheese sandwich on Koepplinger's Healthy Grains (lol) bread with some butter/olive oil spread, coffee
I will say this, a sandwich is a fast and cheap breakfast. Now if it was only good for me.
Lunch: Leftover macaroni and cheese with 2 slices of leftover bacon added, some Lays potato chips
The mac and cheese really turned out quite well, though this is far more than I needed to eat. Next time, if there is one, I'll portion it out better. I think there will be kind of a next time, I think I'll make it for Thanksgiving.
Dinner:
Exercise: Nope. I almost dragged myself out of bed this morning, but almost doesn't count for much of anything.

Almost Back, Maybe?
Sunday, November 15, 2015
It has been a bumpy year. Two moves later I am finally settled in to my new home and am in a position to start thinking about getting serious about self-improvement again. Six months of eating nearly every single meal out (or via drive thru) produced predictable results. And it was expensive.
This past week I finally came close to my target budget for a week's worth of food, $100. That's a very generous budget for one person, and since I rarely go out for dinner or drinks it should be easily managed. I'm not there yet but last week I finally started passing up easier options to come home and eat something on hand. So progress. It's still way too carb-heavy, but that should improve over time -- excluding Thanksgiving of course.
My scale is still packed away in storage somewhere, not sure when I'll be able to fish it out.
For practice, here is today's LOL diet:
Breakfast: 2 eggs fried in a little butter, 2 Bob Evans pre-cooked sausage patties, some Alexia hash browns cooked in butter, coffee
Snack: Chocolate frosted donut, glass of whole milk
Lunch: Leftover homemade macaroni and cheese
Snack: Snickers bar
Dinner: Chuck roast with gravy, 4 cheese mashed potatoes, carrots, roll with butter, canned peaches
Also: Cheez Kurls (yeah, no idea), glass of lemonade
Exercise: 18 holes with cart
Holy cow that was a lot of food. I don't even want to think how many calories.
